Happy Birthday, Ginger! I know you like red-headed performers, so I got you a little gift. Enjoy! **BRENT**

Not sure if you guys saw this, but JHAudio can tune your JH13s to your specific hearing loss. They tweeted a link to this thread earlier, so I guess they want the cool kids with Twitter to know it. @JHAudio, if you didn't know. Ok, so I don't remember the actual day it started, but it was the middle of the month in February of 2006, so this is close enough. I've had a blast watching you grow up, just don't become a tweenager TOO fast. This is been my favorite place to be on the internet for the past four years straight, and I figure it'll continue to stay that way as long as it's around. Thanks to all those who've made it what it is. **BRENT**

She got roses (from me), and two bundles of flowers (one picked out by each kid), along with lunch with the fam at our fav Mexican joint, and an awesome card + gift last night (kids saw it and kinda ruined the surprise, so it came out early. No jokes, Alex, fitz, scott, etc...) Also, my mom is watching the kids tonight, so we're about to go have a romantic dinner at the place of her choosing. I believe we are dining on waffles, hashbrowns, and cherry sprite this fine evening. Your mother says "Hello". 6MDH, Shelly. I take the pictures of her and the kids. If we ever get them printed, it's the gift that keeps on giving. She now has the Fujifilm S5700 as her camera. BTW, 20D, 28-105mm F/3.5-4.5 canon, 55-200 f/4-5.6 sigma, last gen 6MDH, iirc. The SanDisk was the only thing acquired new. I got most of it from someone here... I'm sure you can figure out who it is. FWIW, the 6 MDH is great for me. I carry the cam with 28-105 on it, the 55-200 in a pocket, along with a few extras, and I also keep my iPod in there with a pair of IEMs. The bag is great for throwing something in there if I need it with the kids, and it looks just like a small messenger bag (I'm a big guy, so it's not big on me at all), and I can carry it with me without it looking odd around the mall, or stores, or whatnot. If I need to carry something small, or take good pictures, I'm set. I love this rig so far. The new Sandisk Ultra cards are as fast as the previous gen Extreme III, so I was pretty happy about this. Got a great deal on it locally and am just finally glad to have a quality rig, after about, oh, 6 years of wanting one. **BRENT**

Yes. It's what grawk said... that's how you get good pix. I'll take 300-400 at a soccer game of my daughter's, hoping to get 10-20 good shots. If I took 10-20 shots with a P&S, I'd maybe get one. The 300-400 was with a P&S superzoom, and I really wasn't happy with it, so that's why I've upgraded gear. Another thing... look at the title of the thread. I think Mr. Peanut knows what he's about to get into, and what goes along with that. **BRENT** -
to go in that attaches to and and then to put it all in. **BRENT**

I love the thought of the GF1 and other Micro 4/3s cameras, or the Canon G11, or the S90IS, but these are all still point and shoot cameras, all of them, albeit mostly very nice ones. None of them are going to be fast enough to catch the cute shot of the new addition to the family that happens spontaneously. Leave it on the "On" or "white line" setting at all times, hit the shutter button, and the camera is on and ready to shoot by the time the shutter is released. In a couple years it will matter a little more, once the child is running around wreaking havoc. Having the ability to shoot in rapid succession is going to be nice to have as well. As far as carrying the camera, well, the modern dad needs his own diaper bag which is both fashionable and functional. I have a feeling Amazon.com: Crumpler THE BRAZILLION DOLLAR HOME Photo Laptop Backpack Shoulder Bag (Gun Metal/Black/Orange): Clothing or Amazon.com: Crumpler MD0807A 8 Million Dollar Home Black/Gun Metal Digital SLR Camera 13in. Laptop Shoulder Bag: Camera & Photo would serve you well. It will hold a camera (or 2), a few lenses, laptop, 372 diapers, a bucket of formula, a pack-n-play, a pico dac + pico slim + JH13s (or JH16s, if you prefer), multiple bottles, etc. Oh, the Brazillion Dollar Home has straps on the bottom to carry a tripod. If you play it right, you could probably strap a small umbrella stroller to it that way. You could always wait and see if the 50D drops when the 60D (or 50D Mk II?) comes out and snag that + a good P&S, maybe for the missus to keep with her so she can grab the shots of pops carrying a bag that would hold a small car around his back, playing with the new baby. Just a thought... **BRENT** -

Canon EOS-50D SLR Digital Camera Body Right at 900$ shipped. Or, go through the Amazon link from HC and get it for 10$ more Amazon.com: Canon EOS 50D 15.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only): Electronics If you're buying new, it seems like 40Ds are going for as much or more than 50Ds. I just nabbed a 20D and a little glass and am thrilled with it, and even though it's a bit older it still handles quite well. There is always fredmiranda.com: Specialized in Canon - Nikon SLR Cameras, Forum, Photoshop Plugins, Actions, Reviews, Hosting and Digital Darkroom if you wanted to check out the used market. Not that it may matter to anyone, but I never really liked any of the consumer (Rebel) series cameras to fit my hands at all. I always loved the feel of the Prosumer/Pro lines, even when I was looking at Nikon heavily. Now you just need what, a 430EX and to dust off those old lenses and you're good to go, right? **BRENT** -

What... like the Palm Pre that came out last summer, or the Hero, or various other SenseUI skinned Android devices. I need multitouch on my G1, right before I dump it for my HD2. Well, maybe I'll dump my BB Storm for my HD2... who knows. **BRENT**

Did you guys see this? Lars the n00b found it and linked it to me a few minutes ago, and it answers a question I wanted answered without me having to wade through HF JH1x threads. I figure this guy C&P'd from an e-mail, so I'm taking this as "fact" for now. Heh. Nice. I hope to be moving out of Chattanooga in about 6 years. I would hope to South Florida so I could just drive over and steal borrow gear from Mike and Alex instead of having it shipped. **BRENT**

He's getting a y2, but IIRC, using 320 -v0 MP3. I told him last night he should use FLAC or ALAC, or just some sort of lossless. But I agree, and that's why I said to give the RS-1s a chance once the DAC comes in and use them with the amp for a month or two. **BRENT**

I believe I said something to the effect of Oh, wait, I remember what else. You are wanting to know about all these cans, but you've been listening out of your laptop's headphone out, or out of a 20$ MP3 player. I told you to wait until you get your dac and spend a couple weeks with the REAL rig with the headphones you have, and also throw down for a pair of HD580s, 600s, or 650s to compare to your RS-1s. See if you like the RS-1s with your amp/dac as opposed to just the headphone out. Then sell whichever you like the least, since you were going to dump the RS-1s anyways. Sell your MS-1s right now, as you know you don't like them. If you want portable cans, get some Senn PX100-II or just PX100. You could get Koss Porta Pros, but as many think they kinda fall in line with the Grados that you don't seem to like, then just skip them. Once you sell the RS-1s (which you seem inclined to do anyways), buy the 600s or 650s, whichever you didn't buy previously, and listen to those two cans for about a month. See which you like best. Sell the other. Then when you sell those, buy the K701s and put them up for a month or two against the 650s (which is what I figure you'll keep out of those 3). Then, in about 6-7 months when you've gone through 4 sets of cans and you kinda know what you like and what you don't like, sell all your gear (amp, dac, cans) and get JH13s or JH16s and listen out of your laptop or portable. That's pretty much what I told you last night, I just don't think you were listening. **BRENT**
