  1. I listened to 13FPs and 3A/16FP this weekend at CanLanta. Maybe it was just getting a better seal with the 3A rig, but REALLY dug them compared to the 13FP. I listened to the 5s for the first time, and I forget who it was, but a friend had told me "you won't be happy with the 5s, get the 13s." In my case, he was right. Nothing wrong with the 5s at all, but they didn't reach out and grab me like my initial experience with the 13s back in 09, or like the 3A did this weekend. All impressions are with universal fit JH|Products... no pun intended. **BRENT**
  2. Huge thanks to Tom and Lyra for everything! I just got home and I'm about to take a nap. Tom and I listened to the speaker rig for what, a couple hours? Good times! I had to stop and take a nap on the way home. Going to bed at 4am and getting up at 7:30am just doesn't cut it for old guys like me. Happy early belated b-day, Purk! **BRENT**
  3. Hey, it looks like I started a new thread! Magic. So it's like 3:30am, and I'm keeping CanLanta going by listening to the Matrix -> AriPower -> R10s @ Tom_Hankins' place. Tom, you're a saint for putting up with the Sunday after party that's on hour 11 right now. It was great event, even if Jacob brought flooding with him up from Florida. I'm about to pass out, but it was great seeing old friends and meeting people I've talked to for years, but hadn't gotten to meet in person. Good times. Trav, you did a great job, man. Next time it'll be even bigger! I didn't get a head count, but over the course of the long day, we had probably a solid 40+ that MEANT to show up, and a few furries from the other meet at the hotel. I think some HC/HFers found a new hobby! **BRENT**
  4. Awwwww Yeah, luckily I have tomorrow off, so I'll be at T-Mobile bright and early in the morning with a warranty claim. Woo hoo! **BRENT**
  5. Well, we went and got beer, and wound up at Hankins' place... with Filburt in tow! Pictures (possibly) to follow, via Hankins' better half It's CanLanta 2013 Redux. **BRENT** P.S. My phone is completely dead. Al, can you get Samsung to fax me a replacement Note II T-Mobile edition? Heh. I remember exactly one phone number other than my own. This isn't good
  6. There were headphones. Some of them sounded good. Some of them didn't sound as good. There were people, most of them were good. We got nachos. Good times. **BRENT**
  7. 10am start time. Adrian and I headed down with gear now. Let's do this! **BRENT**
  8. "He's like the angry 909." -Adrian about Fitz's driving. Welcome to CanLanta, tkam! **BRENT**
  9. If you want my number, pm me. I can fax you the proper forms for background checks and whatnot, if you need that information. **BRENT**
  10. I'm so sorry for your loss. **BRENT**
  11. @ Heir. Hope all will be well soon. So I have an issue. I had a few different things lined up as far as lodging for this weekend, but they have fallen through. Anyone have a spare bed/cot/floor/bath tub/couch/vat of nachos/palatial guest house I may could crash at Friday and Saturday nights (maybe Sunday, if the need manifests)? LMK, thanks. **BRENT**
  12. I'm getting tkam from the airport at 3. **BRENT**
  13. Here's the ride I did Monday. I went out on the "Beginner's Ride", but took off with a fitter group (the leader of that group is the guy who hung with me my first time out and stuck with me every painfully slow pedal stroke), and we did a ridge climb. It was pretty depressing seeing how little of a climb it was, but I did it (except for a section where it went down to about 1-2mph, where I walked the last 75-100 yards of the climb.) http://connect.garmin.com/activity/306417577 I have Friday and Monday off, bookending CanLanta, so I plan on getting rides in those days, so hopefully they'll be longer/faster than this one. I need to drop 100 pounds like, yesterday. **BRENT**
  14. Jeff, Troy's new cycling industry gig is with http://www.bikeshophub.com/, with http://www.bikebagshop.com/ being the site for bags, so he may be good to talk to again for that. I'd recommend hitting him up personally, and LMK if you need contact info again. **BRENT** Edit: If anyone is interested in anything from those guys, or wheels, e-mail: [email protected] and tell him I sent you.
  15. Sweet! Looking forward to seeing what you guys came up with. A local friend (former Cat 2 racer) said Troy built up a pair for his younger brother when he got back into racing at a high level. Said "funny you bring up Troy..." Hope they work out for you! **BRENT**
  16. Nooooooo!!! So sorry to hear, Shelly; was looking forward to seeing you again. I hope things get better with your situations. Brent
  17. Love Pentatonix. Of all people, my mom sent this to me. Why did I ever get her to get internet? **BRENT**
  18. Suck @ the first part, awesome at the second part. Pretty great that those people got arrested, if nothing else b/c it fucked with their weekend. **BRENT**
  19. Thanks! I'm SERIOUSLY glad there are no mountains. I'm thinking "next year" for mountains... maybe. If I get a 12-30 cassette, maybe. **BRENT**
  20. Awesome, Shelly, thanks! There's still plenty of time, I think 3 weeks from yesterday is when the event is. There's a flood warning until tomorrow, which is fun, but I have a couple of after-work rides planned for this week. Hopefully the weather cooperates a little better. **BRENT**
  21. http://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-gear/bikes-and-biking/Barely-Legal-specialized-turbo-bike.html I want one. **BRENT**
  22. Vicki, come to Atlanta next weekend, and I'll ride with ya! It's just been dumping buckets of rain in this area all weekend, so I'm kinda bummed. I'm totally not prepared to ride in the rain, gear wise. There is a beginner ride on a quiet stretch of road on Monday that it SHOULD be dry enough to do. I'm planning on doing that, but an old racing buddy used to be into racing bikes before racing cars, so we spent a while last night talking shop and have a ride we're going to do once it quits raining. **BRENT**
  23. Not a bad belated intro. You should try to hop in chat sometime. **BRENT** FYI: If you hop in the chat, you should talk... not hop in, have someone talk, then leave without saying anything.
  24. Head to Wal-Mart, buy a bike, take it off, install on yours for tomorrow, then return it/donate it to some kid on the way back who looks like they could appreciate it/leave it by the dumpster saying "Free Huffy: Ride at your own risk" **BRENT** Edit: rest of the page hadn't loaded, didn't see you got it fixed. Enjoy the ride, kids.
