Yet another baby gate after finding out the three different gates we already own (we bought them for our cats when the kitchen was getting redone) aren't nearly wide enough to fit the opening we intended to block.

I really, really wanted to grab this - Crucial Technology 256GB RealSSD C300 but with recent expenses as well as couple more coming up, it was a no go.

I ended up with this - WD Scorpio Black 500GB BPKT I thought about getting a Momentus XT, but reports of early deaths/issues were bit worrisome so I decided against it. I know they've reportedly fixed those issues via firmware, but I didn't feel like taking a chance on one. No kidding. The performance difference between the stock drive and my new drive is really noticeable. I can't imagine how much faster/snappier it must be with a SSD.

Damnit, I was hoping to play with Lion this weekend, too, since next weekend is practically shot with my mom visiting.

Replaced the stock hard drive in MBP with something faster (though not with SSD, unfortunately). I'd forgotten how slow these stock drives are in Macbooks and MBPs.

Yet another Torx wrench set. I'm sure I'll find the ones I already have after I pick up the new set this afternoon.

The guys at the NH Hunt's were nice enough folks when I've been there, though admittedly, I wasn't asking them pointed questions or trying out too many things so they didn't really have a chance to be jackasses even if they wanted to. I've stopped at the Cambridge store to pick up a strap once, but that's been it. I have not been to their flagship store (Melrose) or the one in Boston. I've found that they're all just far enough it's easier for me to just order from Adorama/B&H.

Saw someone using a Fuji X100 at a farmer's market today. This was the first time I saw the camera in person, and damn, that is one fine looking camera. I wish the damn thing would stay in stock so I can go see one at one of the local Hunt's.

I was going to suggest getting waterproof housing for LX5, but those things cost more than the camera. I've not personally used it and it's not under $200 (more like $250-300), but Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX 5 is supposed to be pretty good waterproof P&S. I thought about getting it when my wife was looking for P&S, but decided against it since at the time, it was still selling at or near the MSRP ($349).

I think it's more a function of how much other lights (e.g., buildings, billboards, etc.) are near where you are. I used to see skies similar to that (albeit without those shooting starts) every time I was out on overnight/multi-day hiking trips (i.e., I was away from civilization). We've been mostly looking at places in/around Chelmsford. We've found couple of places that we like so it's just a matter of figuring out pro/con list for those places, but I still wish they were cheaper. Yes, it was Kimball's. It was nice to go there for once when it wasn't ridiculously crowded.

Visited couple more daycares in the area now that my better half won't have the luxury of at-work-daycare. They were both nice but one was completely out of our price range - I'm really starting to hate living in the state/area with the most expensive daycares. To make me feel better, we took a trip down to a local ice cream/mini-golf/bumper boat/etc. place to eat some unhealthy food for dinner.
