  1. Had about 4-5" on my driveway that I just cleared. I would've waited if I could, but I still have to get to work. At least my wife has a snow day.
  2. A snow day, unfortunately, means means nothing to me since I don't get them (damn, private residential year-round school), though my wife would (she teaches in public school). Speaking of snow, I saw more than few cars on my morning commute today packed with ski/snowboard gears heading north. I wonder how many folks called-in for impromptu days off to take advantage of real snow.
  3. Am I incorrect in thinking that it's just blurring parts of an image instead of so-called refocusing? The sensor on that thing is pretty damn small (typical P&S size, iirc) so DoF would be rather large.
  4. So it's actually snowing for a change in my neck of the woods. Let's see if we get anywhere near what they're predicting.
  5. They also had a 128 for $129 at one point, which I was going to buy but by the time I got to it at home, it was gone.
  6. ^ Frick, that is rather tempting as one of my hard drives just died, so if I grab a SSD, I can just replace the dead drive with the laptop drive I'd be replacing with a SSD. Hmmm.
  7. Considering Nikon 35/1.4 costs decent chunk more than the Canon one, that's dissapointng. As for 5d3 (or whatever), I wonder which AF it'll end up with, though anything that'll let it use non-center focus points would an improvement.
  8. Not technically what I did today, but more what happened. We'd been trying to adopt a dog for a while now and yesterday, we get an e-mail from a local dog rescue place saying that our adoption application for a dog was approved. We make an appointment for meet & greet at the dog's foster family for Saturday with the plan that if it goes well, she would be coming home with us. Today, my wife goes out to a local pet supply store to grab few things to bring with us on Saturday. When she gets home, there's an e-mail from the rescue place saying the foster family has decided to adopt the dog. So now we're back to square one on the dog adoption process.
  9. Haven't driven in MasNoNoNoNoNoNosetts, have you? On a separade note, glad to see you got to enjoy at least a part of the weekend, Nate!
  10. It also doesn't help that you basically can't find one to buy.
  11. It appears X-Pro1 was actually released in Japan yesterday and after looking through some sites/posts in Japanese, it isn't looking too good. From what I gathered, the AF is slow (faster than X100, but still slow), and both LCD & EVF stops while focusing. Oh, and I guess the framing line that shows up on OVF also disappears while focusing, which makes the OVF bit pointless.
  12. Thankfully, Libby stayed asleep for almost 2 more hours. Which was bit surprising to me since she's not good at sleeping for a long time - like father, like daughter, I suppose. We actually had a nice day yesterday as my in-laws came for a visit and Libby always loves seeing them.
  13. Woke up at 3.30am and couldn't get back to sleep. FInally started to doze off around 6am when an alarm on iPod dock thingie in the nursery started going off - it appears one of our cats had stepped on it during the day. This obviously woke up my daughter. Finally got her back to sleeping now. We'll see how long she'll stay asleep. Damn cats.
  14. ^ Considering their DSLR market share was close to 45% in 2010, I doubt they're worried about it. That and their lens/accessory lineup is still better than the competition, short of Nikon. I know both Fuji and Sony both have released/leaked roadmaps showing substantial number of lenses (along with accessories and cameras) to be released in the next two to three years, but until they're actually out in consumers' hands, they mean nothing. Case in point - where's NEX-7? Oh, and here's the battery grip for D800 - MB-D12. For low, low price of $616.
  15. So the estimated arrival for X-Pro1 is now March 20th in US, so much for the late February delivery. EDIT - Supposedly, it goes on sale in Japan tomorrow.
