Had a nice visit from my friends who were up from Georgia and my sister and her boyfriend (not at the same time). It made for a bit of a busy day (for us), but it was really nice to see all of them and our daughter really enjoyed some new company.

In any case, I like the ending on the novel a lot better than the one on Will Smith flick. I still need to see Omega Man and Last Man on Earth.

Picked up a free maple desk from my friend's brother's friend's place. It took a while to arrange but now I have an older style wood desk.

I did like the bokeh of 35/1.4 a lot better than that of 35/2 and thinner DoF was a blast to play with, assuming I actually got it focusing on what I meant to focus. -

Having shot with both 35/2 and 35/1.4, unless you need/want that extra stop (be it for low light or thinner DoF), I'd say the $1000 premium of 35/1.4 over 35/2 isn't worth it. As for 85's, I think the intended applications are different. -

Ah, I see. Hopefully, it'll improve and stick around long-term. I'm planning on canceling my cable in the summer so more options are always welcome.

What didn't you like about it? I saw it on Amazon today but was too lazy to try it out myself.

Going through pretty bad allergy symptoms with the weather warming up a bit again around here - quickly reminding me why I don't enjoy 3 out of the 4 seasons. On a plus side, the weather did allow me to walk around the neighborhood with my daughter after work.

Any of the Nikon shooters here shot with 20/2.8D? I'm lookin to get a small wide lens and that one caught my eyes. It appears Ken Rockwell likes it, but he's crazy. -
Cleaned out the sandbox my neighbor gave us and finally put the three bags of play sand I've had sitting in the basement for the last 3 years to good use. My daughter was really excited to have her own sandbox and the weather was nice enough she was able to use for a good chunk of time.

Finally got our tax done today. I miss the days when I could just log onto TurboTax online and get it done myself.

He's talking about upcoming Nikon D7200. It's supposed to have same/similar sensor as the one on NEX-7. -

^ Just quickly tried it out. The performance has definitely improved, though still not as quick as it was on LR3, IIRC. At least it's now to the point where using two-monitors is tolerable again. -

I'm probably biased since my files are on an external drive, which is most likely the bottleneck on my chain (one of these days, there'll be an affordable Thunderbolt drives). In any case, what Nikon appears to have done with D800 is fracken' impressive. -

^ I meant more in regards to post-processing, not just in file storage. -

I'd think for most folks, D800/E's 36MP sensor will be more of a hindrance, especially from file management stand point. It was bad enough for me with 5d2 and it's 21MP sensor, I can't imagine how much of a pain it would dealing with D800 RAW files. -

Drove back from my in-laws after visiting them over the weekend, and by "drove back," I mean I slept in the passenger seat while my wife drove. I have the most difficult time staying away on any drive longer than 30 minutes (unless I'm driving, of course). At least she'll be the one that get to do some sleeping in less than a month when we drive to Buffalo.
