  1. Ah, that's a good point, never thought of it that way.
  2. You're a good man, Steve. Reminded me of the time my previous car broke down/started smoking (a critter nest under the hood that I didn't know about caught on fire from the engine heat) and I had to pull over. Within short order, I had two drivers and a couple who lived on the street with me offering their help. It was a silver lining to otherwise a crappy afternoon.
  3. When did all Nikon battery grips become so that you have to remove it to change battery, except, of course, the one in the grip itself?
  4. ^ Almost tempting just for USB 3 ports since my lappy doesn't have them (the fact it allows for Thunderbolt daisy chaining helps). I did notice, though, the USB 3 ports on the dock are limited to 2.5 Gps max as opposed to theoretical max of 5 Gps - I don't know if this poses any performance hit in a typical, real-life use.
  5. Just realized you shot that with 35/2. You're a brave man - I'd have opted for a longer lens just to be away bit more from water.
  6. About 4 hours of yard work. Now it's time for a drink or two.
  7. The introductory pricing for the Sigma USB dock/software appears to be set at $60 (MSRP is $80). Bit surprised by that - I'd have expected it to be priced higher. I'm also mildly surprised by the fact they're supporting both Windows and OS X from the get go. Geek in me wants to get a supported Sigma lens just to check out the USB dock. EDIT - Am I the only one seeing eBay/NewEgg/etc. product links?
  8. I don't want to avoid shaving that badly.
  9. Last week, the security at the Smithonian museums insisted putting my cameras through their X-ray machines. Understandable under the circumstance, but I'm wondeirng how the roll is going to look once I get it developed considering it went through 3 separate machines. Thankfully, I wasn't carrying extra film that day.
  10. Funny to know that someone else have used and liked the Venus. Still doesn't last me more than 2 shaves at most, though it's still a lot better than ones I was using before. I wish I'd just go bold so that I don't have to keep shaving.
  11. Technically, an outside vendor was selling counterfeits through Amazon.
  12. Out of curiosity, what did you use to shave, Dusty? After trying out more than few different ones, I've found my wife's Gillete Venus cartridges to be the best ones when shaving my head. They just look funny when attached to my Gillete handle.
  13. ^ I really should learn how to use Photoshop and/or GIMP one of these days. I really like the shot, CJ.
  14. So that's a good excuse as any to get a backup body, right? D800?
  15. Bummer you still have to send it in (I'm assuming), but it's nice that AmEx is covering the repair.
  16. Well, the part of the problem was that we (my wife and I) accidentally picked the wrong dental plan so there was less coverage than we thought. Also, I don't know how it works for other people, but for the dentals plans we can get, you get set amount of coverage for the year (calendar or fiscal, I never remember) and once you use it up, the insurance doesn't cover anything until the new year starts. By the time I needed my root canal, I had used up most of my coverage, so the root canal would've cost me $1500 and the subsequent crown would've cost me additional $1500. The kicker was when my dentist told me that there was a decent chance the particular tooth wouldn't withstand the root canal and he'd have to just extract the tooth, which would've still cost me $1500 since the procedure started out as a root canal (at least that's what I was told). I told him to just pull out the tooth.
  17. Agreed. In my case, it was going to cost me $3000 for the whole thing (needed a root canal, too) or $300 for a simple extraction. It was topp back tooh - I chose extraction.
  18. For me, it was opposite the last time I had an option to get a crown. Though it was still ridiculously expensive so I opted not to.
