  1. So this past Monday, I received my Zerosurge unit - the 15 amp/8 outlets model. The first thing I realized was that the power cord on it was wee bit short for my purpose. The cord is 6 feet long and I had to move things around a bit so the unit can reach my rack. I'm not sure how much of a difference it has made, but one thing I know for certain is that my σ22 power supply for β22 barely hums when it's connected through the Zerosurge unit.
  2. I hope you have a better chance of getting in touch with them than I did in the past. I've tried contacting them via e-mail couple of times (both in English and Japanese) and they've all gone unanswered. 3. Amazon? I thought they were Blue Light Specials from K-Mart?
  4. I use a banana hanger and Headphile stand from back when it was actually affordable. In retrospect, I wish I hadn't sold the Headphile Triple stand I used to have. Time to go make some stands soon, methinks.
  5. I think waiting 5 months for upgrades is long enough - says the idiot who's been waiting for an amp for over year and four months.
  6. I completely missed the Senn connectors on the pic.
  7. Well, here are some of my impressions.... HeadAmp Pico I used this through USB on Ian's HTPC and my MacBook with ER4s. Jeebus it sounded nice. It had pitch black background with more than enough oomph to drive ER4s and drive them well, they did. I wasn't really worried about it tempting me since my old laptop was dead and my iMac's in the same room as my rig. Then I had to go and get myself a MacBook. Doh! K1000 w/ Rockhopper β22 Man, this combo sounded sweet and reminded me why I've kept onto K1000's all this time. Since it has been a while since I've heard K1000's drive through a nice power amp, I don't know how the combo stacks up, but I don't care, I really enjoyed how it sounded and that's all it matters. I think I'll be holding onto the K1000's until I get myself a nice speaker setup. Woodied 225 These sounded infinitely better than the stock 225's I've listened to before. There were no harshness or piercing characteristics of stock 225's I remember, and I quite enjoyed them. Of course, the caveat is that Nate and Ian told me that these in stock form sounded better than any other stock 225's they've heard in the past. HE60 w/ Rockhopper KGSS I should have stayed away from this rig. The lack of impact be damned, I loved this combo. It definitely made me miss the OII/KGSS DX combo I used to have. I have a feeling I may be ending up with another pair of OII sooner or later. Stable platter on Nate's Wadia I will never get used to the fact that you're supposed to put the CD on upside down. The Accent Walls They're simply awesome.
  8. Damn, that's a beauty, Todd! Is that a Selah as well?
  9. It's even easier to get a huge box of Special K from BJ's and leave it at work. That's what I usually eat for breakfast/lunch, assuming I eat something.
  10. Thanks Ian for hosting the meet, and it was great to see everyone again. I had a great time and Ian's definitely got a nice place there. I'll post some impression tomorrow since I gotta go unpack and setup my rig and then go to bed since I have to get to work early. Oh, and thanks Dave for driving my lazy ass to the meet.
  11. My discount is not that great, since I bought it personally. I believe if you can buy it through your school that was such agreement with Apple, the discount is much greater - sort of like a work discount some folks in tech field gets. That wasn't an option for me since my school doesn't have any extra agreement with Apple.
  12. If you think that's crazy, you should see what Denon DCP-150 go for, when they show up for sale.
  13. I take it you're talking about the screen? Glossy, MacBook doesn't have any option.
  14. IIRC, the old 880's were too bright and harsh, and old 990's were bit muddy and had recessed mids. Don't know about new ones since I haven't heard them.
  15. They look like the pics below - 880 990
  16. Bit off topic, but were they the current Beyer models? If so, $239 is a pretty darn good price for 880 and 990.
  17. 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo w/ 1gb RAM and 120gb HD. Would have gone for the base model, but wanted the Superdrive with this one. Oh, and it's the white one - wasn't about to pay $200 extra just for the color and 40gb extra HD space.
  18. After some Educator's discount and gift card, a new MacBook.
  19. As some of you already know, my iBook has been going through a slow and painful death the last couple of months (it can now only stay powered on - if I turn it off or put in sleep mode, it may not boot up again for couple of hours). As much as I don't really need one, a MacBook would make things so much more convenient, especially with my continuing ed classes going at least through July. The question is, should I get one now or wait until the next update? Past history suggest that MacBook isn't due for any update for few months, but with the recent introduction of MacBook Air, that may change. Any suggestions? Any of you know about any imminent updates/changes to MacBook that rest of us don't know about?
  20. They were comfortable, and, well, interesting, I guess.
