It's been almost a decade since I was in Japan. I really should go back but the flights to Japan are so friggin' expensive. Of course, if I'm going to Japan, I won't be doing much headphone/audio related things as I'd rather be visiting my extended family.

What he said. I use it with my MacBook occasionally, though not that often on iMac (bigger screen).

Not sure if this'll help, have you checked the Universal Access options in the System Preferences?
-
Yeah, I think another NE mini-meet is in order. Of course, I think most of us are annoyingly busy for the time being.

Me likey the new feature.

So I played the game (360) for a bit at a friend's place. I had never played any of the GTA games before, and the IV was a whole lot of fun. It made me want to go out and buy myself a PS3.

That's a nice price, especially if you use the free shipping option. Man, if I hadn't build my own DIY Flexy, I'd be all over it. I still may, but we'll see.

No I wasn't. So I can expect BH in your future, right?

Damn you all! Man, I miss my O2. What was I thinking?

Headphone Recommendation: Closed, Bass-Light, Velour Pads
Salt Peanuts replied to luvdunhill's topic in Headphones
AKG K271 w/ velour pads ($35 from HeadRoom) or wait till AKG K272 comes out (velour pads stock). 271 is a bitch to drive, though. EDIT - Do you know which closed AKG model he has? -
Few home improvements/DIY books. They looked pretty good when I quickly looked through them in store. Hopefully, they'll actually be helpful.

The stands do interest me - I think they would work well with my Epos ELS-3 that I use with TV/DVD setup. Right now, Epos are just sitting on the TV stand/shelf (the TV stand is rather wide) and I could use raising them by few inches. Of course, at $500, those stands would be more expensive than the Epos.
-
Jeebus, they're more expensive than I expected. Granted you're getting DAC function and headphone amp in the package, but wow. If I added everything correctly, the Basic package is only couple hundred $ cheaper than what I paid for my entire speaker rig (including SB3, 840c, speaker stands, and cables). EDIT - I agree that they do look pretty good, though.

Tonight's episode of Deadliest Catch.

HPS-1. Their original stand, IIRC.

You know, as much as I like the black/silver pattern of the Mk2, I'm still a sucker for the champagne gold/brown pattern of the Mk1.
-
If that impression remains beyond the first impression, I may have to track down the Mk1 if I ever get back into Stax.

The Headcase pico Lovefest: Post your impressions here
Salt Peanuts replied to thrice's topic in Headphone Amplification
I just saw the list. Man, even if only 2/3 of the pre-orders are completed (I'm guessing there are some who changes their mind while waiting), that's a lot of Picos out there. -
Anyone know the output voltage of 840c?
Salt Peanuts replied to Salt Peanuts's topic in Home Source Components
That's actually why I wanted to know the voltage output. I bought a used Axiom a while back, mostly because it was rather cheap, but it has basically sat on a shelf doing nothing. So I decided I was going to send it back to have it readjusted to use in my rig, and output voltage of 840c was part of the info I needed. RCA output for this use, though, as I may need the XLR output for something else in the future. Shouldn't be a problem since I really don't listen that loud anyways. Hey Ethan. How's the business going? I didn't even know there was a standard for voltage output. -
840c, unfortunately, doesn't have variable output.

That's a great pic, Nate. Mmm, it's rather tempting on this crappy Monday.
