  2. I don't know, all I was thinking was how to keep my water pipes from bursting if the power doesn't come back on (came back after ~24 hours of outage) and also trying to figure out where to stay to keep warm.
  3. blessingx - do you by any chance have a powered FireWire hub? I'm wondering if the fan speed would still increase if the Duet is connected to a firewire hub that has its own power supply thus negating the need to draw power from MacBook's firewire.

  5. Perhaps, but you know what they say - if you can't kick'em while he's down, you shouldn't be kicking in the first place.
  6. Mike, you do know that Justin is now accepting deposit for a new batch of BHSE, right?
  7. Man, this keeps getting better and better.
  8. Will do, thanks for the tip, Dan. As for what I did today, went out for some of the shopping we couldn't get done yesterday (a lot of stores were still out of powers yesterday). Got home and took the following pics of my side/backyard for record keeping. A view from our bedroom window.
  9. The Beatles - Abbey Road (Millennium Remasters)
  10. That's a great news, Nate! I hope everything stays on - we were very surprised when ours came back on only after 24 hours of outage (National Grid told us Monday or Tuesday).
  11. I connected Duet to MacBook and let it play music through iTunes for about 1.5 hours. FYI, MacBook was plugged into an outlet. For the most part, my fan speed hovered around 4500 rpm while Duet was connected, occasionally going as high as 5200 rpm and low as 4000 rpm. For a point of reference, the fan speed is usually around 1800-2200 rpm. The temp also went up about ~15 degrees as well. The fan noise was clearly audible and distracting, especially during quiet passages on music. I've connected the Duet back to iMac and I've let it play some music for about 40 minute now with no real changes in any of the fan speeds.
  12. I don't notice any fan speed increase with my iMac (older white model) while using it with Duet. I also have an older Macbook (2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo) so I'll try out the Duet with it to see if I detect any fan speed increase.
  13. A small Christmas tree. Oh, and groceries to replace the content of the fridge that went bad during the power outage.
  14. Well, technically, fucking ice storm. The ice storm that hit the Northeast on Thursday to Friday left us with no power for close to 24 hours and we're pretty lucky to have it back already (we also just got back our internet service). We were afraid that our water pipes may burst as National Grid told us that power may not be back on till Monday or Tuesday. The ice storm also left me with some flooding in the basement and side yard full of trees and branches that snapped (narrowly missing the house) from the weight of ice.
  15. Color me jealous - the closest they're coming to my neck of woods is Ithaca and that's not really close at ~7 hour driving.
  16. Signed-up for a free trial of MobileMe to see how well it can sync my two Macs and iPod touch. So far, it's done heck of a lot better than I had expected.
  17. Used Gilmore Lite on rare occasions shows up at that price, though more often on places that are less focused on headphones.
  18. Thanks for the link! Just what I was looking for with my new iPod touch.
  19. Japanese yam. It's actually a sweet potato, but it's sold as Japanese yam.
