Happy Belated birthday!! Don't let the g/f, family drama bring you down. They always work in cycles - just keep and even keel.

Miles Davis - Miles Ahead

I've been watching it. Really enjoyed it. I hope this creates enough buzz in California to help keep the state parks open.

You have a good point luvdunhill.

Where's the 50" flat screen?

I was just thinking that since the Sig 30 was designed to use battery power to theoretically have clean, more stable power, a gain stage bringing power in from the grid might defeat any of that benefit. Also, the idea that every extra component added to the "chain" runs the risk of degrading the sound. But... I really don't know. I may have heard it in all it's glory. If so, I was just underwhelmed considering how many really like that combo. It sounded good but not great to me.
-
I heard the Sig 30 with the K-1000s. I was pretty underwhelmed, but I think they were being held back by being double preamped. We were having a K-1000/HE-90 shoot out and Neil's house. I'd like to hear the Sig 30 again under better circumstances before I judge them. I do know that at another forum Krmathis (a long term O2 owner and fan) is amping the K-1000s with the Sig 30.2 and has his O2s mk.1 up for sale because the K-1000s are getting all his listening time for whatever that's worth. (stated in his FS post) That's the problem with the K-1000s and Stax. You have to have 3 different amps if you want to have normal headphones. I hope you can figure out a way to fund an amp or just sell them and focus on your other 50 headphones and not spread yourself too thin. A 300b amp would be ideal.
-
Your other phones are amped with one of the best. For the K-1000, the ZDT is the weak link IMHO. They should sound fast and extremely tight from top to bottom even if they aren't your taste.

They are different. Kind of like frost bite and a 3rd degree burn is different.

They have grown to that massive status because it's the only place people can get the real news. It's the only place that's not an Obama softball parade. Show me where they have been caught making anything up like 20/20 and others have? They back their stories up with facts as stated already. I don't always agree as I am not a disciple of any network, but I like to hear how jacked up things are under our current government and not just when a Republican is in office. It's both party's that are screwing things up, so don't play the liberal republican thing. It's boring and tired. No one really "gets" how bad taxes will bury us in the near future. Most likely after the next election for obvious reasons. We will start to understand that the bailouts and government run medical, etc. will cripple our pocketbooks for decades. This money will be all too real for us soon. And it's going to be a bitch and last for a loooong time. Bush started this spending trend and Obama has taken into the stratosphere. Neither Bush or Obama are bad or evil people to me unlike the fanboys of either side like to make them out to be, it's the system and party's they are tied to IMHO. That's a crisis that bugs the hell out of me. A future of hopeless financial struggling after we get out of this mess.

LOL - did you at least act excited to not make him feel bad?

Van Halen - 1984 Terrible sound quality. Filled to the brim with 80's cheese, inflated egos on the verse of total collapse. What's not to love

Very nice story screaming oranges

Yep, but only if he allows himself too. ~~ No crisis here other than I'm going to die like everyone else. After reading some posts here. I think this may be appropriate: Existential crisis, derived from existentialism, is a stage of development at which an individual questions the very foundations of their life

I don't think any solid state amp can do what tubes can, but in my set up it gives the "warm" tube sound, not to be confused with the "warm" that people on other forums confuse as excessive bass. It's more of a lack of that digital edge that many solid state amps have - or that analytical nature I've always heard in the F1. I think what you are describing is the layering and richness that tubes offer, and no, it doesn't do all that. Nothing solid state that I've heard does. The KT88 amp with black plate NOS tubes which I originally used with the K-1000s actually sounded bright and thin in comparison rather than smooth, rounded and detailed like the Aleph oddly enough. I should say I have tubes in my system, including a tubed output stage on my digital source. Pass Labs describes all the technical crap about how he achieves the tube-like sound in the manual if your interested in knowing more.

The F1, to me, controlled the drivers better than any other amp. It just sounded cold and analytical compared to other amps. I like the Aleph 3 better than the F1. The Aleph sounds much more like a tube amp while giving solid control and helps the bass. It has to be on for at least an hour to really get that lush, yet controlled sound though. The Aleph also has amazing synergy with my speakers which came as a big surprise. Sometimes new is not better. If I wanted to spend a lot more for an amp, a 300b or airtight would be a small step up. And the sky is the limit with the K-1000s since the best speaker amps haven't all been tried.

The 4850 I just bought (I like the mid market since I put my money into audio) not only has better quality, but is faster than Nvidia cards in the price range. I am an ATI fan now. But the drivers and heat are real issues compared to Nvidia.

If shortening the cable makes the HD800 as good as the HE-90. Maybe plugging the IC socket directly into the amp would make it sound twice as good as the HE-90? I'm just sayin *shrug*

NICE! That reminds me, I need to list my Cary 308T for sale. They make some very nice front ends indeed.
