Just made reservations for a place in East Boothbay Harbor Maine for Karen's birthday weekend. Same place we stayed at last year, we both loved it. Happy wife = happy me!

Wow, sad indeed. Reminds me a bit the situation of Eva Cassidy. Checked out some songs, a haunting and soulful voice. Will certainly check out more, thanks Dusty.

I hear they also have the Stax Fart

From what I've read, Bowie basically saved Iggy from a heroin-induced downfall and possible death.....and Bowie all but ignored his album at the lime (was it Lodger?) to tour with Iggy. Cool stuff..... BTW, silly side story: when I had an apartment with a no pet policy ~ 1987, my girlfriend and I shopped for hamsters. We found a nice pair where one had a zig-zag stripe on his back. And as such, Iggy and Ziggy came to live with Todd (girlfriend Barbara did not live with me, though; ultimately a good thing, I was not good enough for her at the time. TMI).

My 5S is the same way.....odd, even......

Cool, I'm sure I'd use the credit anyway, so will probably do the same. Thanks!

Those speakers look like they could be used for Jacob's avatar....pretty nice stuff. I luv the Electron Luv amps up front, too (unless someone else is copying that style)

Supremely put, Steve. Apologies if it was seeming like I was making any comparison between child molestation and gay sex, certainly not the case. It was more along the lines of calling the religious hypocrites out for being against one thing (love and sex between consenting adults) while allowing, hiding, or DOING the other.
-
So good on you, Steve. Don't let them drag you to their level. I read an article on the slight "softening" of the anti-gay-marriage stance by the pope, and it had this quote "Intrinsically disordered" Okaaaayyyyy. Wonder what all the priests who molested young boys have to say about that...and what god would say about them as they pray....and were hidden and protected by the church itself. Hypocritical fucktards is pretty spot on Carl!

It's too bad they aren't doing the trade-in ANY DAC option again. I scored the original NuWave DAC cheaply, by trading in a eBay Chinese DAC I paid less than $100 for (and got $300 off the PS DAC). But honestly, I didn't love the NuWave DAC....on base 16/44 material, I thought the DL3 actually sounded better. I sold the NuWave fairly quickly....very good, but not great IMO. I'd think/hope the NuWave DSD would be better, but not going to try it...too many other DAC's.....

Couple biggies....RIP Snake and Omar.....

Great to hear the progress, Tom, and way to go Purk! Indeed, NFLO!

RIP to Irwin Keyes, actor who played many a character and a few main roles. A cop in The Warriors, a semi-regular on The Jefferson's, Police Squad (one of my favorite lines, "What's a Goonluca?" -- he played Luca, a mob man), Oblivion, Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, and a LOT more..... Apparently he suffered from acromegaly, a pituitary gland disorder that causes abnormally large hands/feet/face....

Squeezebox Alternative or Chasing the Pegacorn

^^^ DAP's can indeed be a nice alternative, good thoughts Grahame and Dusty. I got the Fiio X5, has two mSDHC slots so can go up to 256G (I have 2 x 64G for 128G), more if you want to swap out cards. Plays hi-rez, has line and digital out, and a bit ugly but functional UI. The headphone amp portion is so-so, but there are better DAP's out there (just not as cheap). -
Sorry to hear Haj. That's why I do house projects I KNOW I can do right....but even then I manage to fuck some things up, too.....

Squeezebox Alternative or Chasing the Pegacorn

What, you don't want to bring tons of vinyl into work every day? I get it now....and I think indeed something like the Olive would be great. There's a 04HD with 2TB on sale on Audiogon for $750 BTW, from what I've heard, steer clear of the Olive One. Lots of firmware/software quirks originally, don't know if they've been resolved. -
Squeezebox Alternative or Chasing the Pegacorn

It's not really a laptop though.....it's a micro-size desktop that easily fits in my shelf. My situation is such that - with the KVM - it's easy to control and work. -

I did something similar to the Vortexbox, but Windows. I bought an inexpensive Lenovo ThinkCentre M53 Micro PC. Because I'm using it near my regular computers, I just hooked it up via a 15' KVM cable to my existing KVM. It has wireless capability, but I did run ethernet to it. Loaded JRiver, and I can use the PC to access JRiver (which also supports some streaming services), PC again to go on web or do other services, and JRemote via the iPad. USB to my Auralic Vega then to the KGSS-HV Mini. I moved out my Auralic Aries, will probably sell it off. EDIT: it can connect and run from my NAS, though I did also put a 2TB portable drive on it. Even when i had my Sony HAP Z1ES in that same spot (easily accessible from my couch), I found myself using the iPad for navigation; just much better. The Sony has easy to use front panel controls and a decent but small screen. I guess more understanding of the situation in which you want to use it is needed. Will there be access to a network (wired or wireless)? How close will you be to it? What outputs - digitial to DAC, analog to amp, etc? I don't know of any great product that can do it all well. As Tyll said, the Cocktail Audio is fugly to use; I've heard the Olives have some glitches as well, maybe more on their lower models; other models may just not sound as good. -
All of the above! RIP to a Human Being.
