  1. I think I'm just poisoned from the whole LH Lab's crowd-funding....leaves a sleazy feel to any established audio company doing it, even PS Audio with their Sprout....
  2. Unholy carp, they went the crowd-funding route..... The rungs on the ladder of respect just all broke....
  3. Raffi Torres suspended 41 games for a shitty pre-season hit. Good riddance to bad trash. Zack Kassian suspended without pay after being involved in a bad crash (though i don't believe he was driving), headed to "level 2" rehab-type help. NHL admitting Coke may be prevalent in usage by players. Gonna be a fun season.....lets get the games freaking started, need to focus on some real hockey.
  4. Pretty cool music, and awesome cover! Thanks Bryan.....
  5. I echo the Ety's. The sound is good/very good on most of their models, and the triple flange tips fit well in my narrow ear canals. Many other IEM's don't fit well so don't sound good (IME - In My Ears). Not sure of the Altec Lansing OEM'd Ety's (I think they were a copy of the ER-6's) are still available, but my wife loved them.
  6. Went last night/this morning to see the lead singer of my favorite band, The Chameleons UK. Mark Burgess, touring as ChameleonsVox, did a fantastic show of their entire first album, plus another 1+ album's worth of additional Chameleons material. Many of us have "that band" that eclipses others, for me it's the Chameleons, even though I got into them late in their original incarnation in the 80's (I just missed their last US tour in 1987, didn't get to see them as a group until a 2001 reunion). Met up with a couple I had met via a mailing list in the 90's and kept in touch with, along with a local musician acquaintance who will join the band for 3 nights because of the main guitarist's mom passing away in England. And also reconnected with another list-member who I hadn't chatted with since the early-90's. This was the last time Mark will tour apparently, it was a tremendous show with a ton of energy and joy. Three separate encores beyond the main show. I'm at work and pretty exhausted now, but still filled with the energy and light from an amazing show!
  7. Not sure if this was posted before, saw it referenced on an author's (F Paul Wilson) email blog. Cathulhu
  8. The LCD-4 is twice as good as the LCD-2, and 1/3 better than the LCD-3.
  9. Cocteau Twins - Victorialand. Just what I needed to mellow out and focus at work. Helps me build those Alternate Hierarchical Dimensions
  10. RIP Catherine and Frankie.....not big parts of my life/growing up, but do remember both fondly.
  11. Happy birthday!!
  12. Happy birthday!
  13. Put together a couple pieces of Ikea furniture together for Andrew's room. He now has a normal desk and side drawers. Also just watched some of the eclipse/blood moon with Karen and some neighbors. Pretty cool, at least for a while.

  15. I'm not embarrassed to admit I like the pretty amnesiac kicks ass while she remembers things plot, and Jaimie Alexander is kind of like Hanna meets Jason Bourne to me, Formulaic? Yeah, it resembles/steals from a few things. But I'm not looking for anything too deep, so I'll likely enjoy it unless the so-so acting gets too much in the way. I'll be curious to see how they unravel the mystery of her tattoos.
  16. Well, hey, I watched a lot of b-grade horror flicks growing up, too. And, all 3 of us boys wanted my mother to marry a certain boyfriend after she was divorced, specifically because he watched Creature Double Feature and The Three Stooges with us. What could possibly have gone wrong....? With him, or me?
  17. Agree with Dan. And if there is an issue with volume range between steps, you might consider some XLR attenuators inline, much cheaper than adding the volume control. Not sure they'd be great for signal quality, but may help....
  18. I just watched that yesterday, agreed on the male lead (and some secondary characters, too). But I liked it overall for what it is.
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. Wow, thought he'd live forever, I think a part of him will....what a legend....RIP Yogi
  21. I think it comes down to the Apps. I would have said the same thing but I see that some of the core Apps I use at work - basically Microsoft Office, Outlook/Exchange, and other customs apps I can access through Citrix App Server - are now on IOS. The barrier seems to be closing more and more, though I imagine some of the Apps would still be stronger on a true full OS machine.
  22. The Good Son went to his mom's today to help with computer issues. 4 hours later she has a clean and up-to-date machine.....
  23. As does some other guy not named Lily and Andrew. Go Wonder Woman!
  24. "Because I always did it this way" is the WORSE excuse I hear working in IT. But it is perfectly fine for iPhone upgrades.
  25. A few days after dad....Happy Birthday!
