  1. Yes....to both.....
  2. Haven't listened to the music, but I like that cover.....
  3. Andrew got his second college acceptance the other day. And another near-$20k merit grant! And his first acceptance, which was mistakenly Early Decision with $22k, is now a non-binding acceptance with $27k! It REALLY is too bad these are his #3 or #4 choices! Still waiting on #1 and #2 choices to come in. Think he'll get in to both no problem, hoping for decent merit $ from them, too; would be very pleasantly surprised if near the above.
  4. Doug's occasional foray into old punk kept me thinking of this, so did some old-school low-fi sludge punk.
  5. Yup. Some folks are going gaga over up-sampling (cross-sampling?) even PCM to multi-times DSD, up to DSD512 if the DAC can handle it. I myself am thinking of going to try that via HQPlayer software, one of the best supposedly. Does indeed look quite interesting.....
  6. RIP Pongo, looks like a good friend.....
  7. In Dusty's words....yeezh! Stay warm, Ian and family!!
  8. Congrat....and WHOA! (Room and bombs respectively).
  9. Remembering Greg Lake (and Keith Emerson)
  10. Jesuit Christmas! Hope it goes well and you heal quickly!
  11. Hope you're OK, lefty.....(seriously, I do)
  12. Well, goddamnedmotherfuckingshitkicking 2016......! How much more can we take? RIP Mr. Glenn, a hero to many....
  13. Aw, fuck.....was hoping to end 2016 a little more quietly. RIP. A great voice and talent. FUCK cancer! FUCK 2016!
  14. Lots of luck and success!
  15. Unfortunately, no go for me Nate. Would love to see everyone, meet or no meet! But as usual, family plans are made well ahead of time.....damn that social wife of mine, why can't she be more a hermit curmudgeon like her husband.....
  16. RIP JK, way too young.....
  17. Thanks All! Had my annual fish dinner, local restaurant does this great dish with baked fish (used to be catfish, now snapper) in a jambalaya like sauce with andouille sausage, shrimp, and some veggies over rice. Accompanied by a nice IPA, and apple crisp dessert. Fat, dumb and happy. Life is good, especially so for a night.
  18. We don't need no steenkin' amps! Yes, of course. They did have a decent Unison amp to drive them, plenty of power and sounded good, given the source weakness.....
  19. I picked up the Utopia recently, echo John's comments regarding sound. This weekend I was at a local dealer's, they had the Elear and Utopia out for listen. Indeed, not exactly the same sound signatures. Elear is still quite good at $1k, but Utopia is definitely more refined, better highs, more balanced overall, and more transparent. The bass on the Elear seemed fuller, but the Utopia is MAYBE as deep but definitely a bit more controlled IMO. EDIT: BTW, driven by an Arcam CD player, so source wasn't up to snuff. Told them they should put in a new source or set up a good DAC. So my observations could even be understated.....
  20. Happy Birthday Tom! May it be filled with wine, women and song.....the latter two with Noo Yawk accents!
  21. Love this album! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
