Audioengine is having a 20% off everything sale June 6th-9th.....some decent stuff, maybe not over-the-top enough for H-C ?
  2. I used to feel a lot more neutral about them, but a lot of what san Jose complained about I'm seeing in this series. Yes, they're a heavy team, but they cross the lines WAY too much. Fair amount of near-or-at-head shots, running the goalie at least 3 if not more times.... Then that fuckwad Berube complains that they're getting too many calls against them. Sorry, it's just now they're ACTUALLY calling the penalties. Sadly, though, it's still inconsistent. Borderline calls made, worse calls missed....but while the Bruins wouldn't be called "clean" for sure, the Blues are way worse. So they deserve more calls against them. Nervous about tonight, hoping the Bruins win, AND remain healthy.....
  3. This means you're getting two....or three?
  4. Karen and I "Met the Fokkers" last night. Our son Andrew has been pretty serious with a wonderful young lady he met at college. The great news is that her family lives 2 towns over from us, so they can see each other easily outside of the school year. Amy is going for 8 weeks to special program in Kenya this Summer, and she and Andrew thought it would be great to have the parents meet. Simple dinner at Bertucci's, but it was very successful, we enjoyed the company and chat very much. It helps that the father works in IT like me, has a slightly similar sense of humor, and looks just a little bit like Peter in Family Guy ? It just felt very normal and pleasant, and the fact that it was the kids' idea made it even more special....
  5. RIP to 2 great music-men Leon and Roky.... RIP to Mr. Daryoush, what a nice story of making it in America. And RIP to Mr. Gell-Mann....amazing as well....
  6. Good to "see" you again Ozgur....no matter what goes on in life, we're a shelter from the storm, a home away from home, etc.
  7. The initial/intro camera angle is pretty much what my view was when we went there last year; we were maybe 10 rows closer. Very nice theater!
  8. RIP Bart and Bill.... I was watching that 1986 game. His name will so often be associated with that game and what could have been....but, it was other decisions before that play that helped cause the meltdown. Pitching decisions left a lot to be desired that day.....
  9. I wish I had been able to get a picture of it, but was driving by it.... On the way home today from our Maine condo, we passed construction area on the highway In MasNoNoNoNoNoNosetts. Two large cranes were parked there, and someone had strung up two American flags on the cranes. Just thought it was a great thing to do..... EDIT: totally forgot about the sa-chu edit! ?
  10. Tilt was wild.....his voice was pretty amazing as well. Wasn't he supposed to be kind of a "crooner" type early on? I think he was being groomed to be one of those easy-listening/ballad type singers. I'd say he "somewhat" veered from that path.
  11. ^^ They look like some old VMPS speakers, not sure though.....
  12. ? RIP Scott.....and fuck fuck fuck cancer!
  13. Very Happy Birthday!
  14. Happy Birthday!
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. The Yoga Frog makes it.....
  17. Tough game for the Sharks today. Some definite questionable hits knocked two of their players out....and I think the refs are afraid to call anything that will favor them too much now... I have to say that - with the exception of Evander Kane - I pretty much like everyone on both teams. I USED to like Kane, he had an incredible KO against perennial scumbag Matt Cook after the Bruins were neutered from being able to do anything to him. But he's not been the cleanest or nicest player or teammate on and off the ice for a while now. Too bad....still has some good talent.
  18. Yay for the Bruins! One of the best things about them advancing is watching the renewed butt-hurt from Toronto "fans" In quotes because while so many are great, it is incredible how many are whiny bitches, along with the media. It was actually funny to have a large group of folks in Canada thanking the Bruins for knocking the Maple Leafs out. Too much "center of the hockey universe" mentality they said. San Jose gets more ref luck to help win a game. But hats off to them, they ARE winning; Couture is having a fantastic playoffs. I have a feeling it'll be the Sharks and Bruins in the Finals, but I'm open to either team from the West getting in.
  19. RIP Grumpy Cat.....may your memes live on forever
  20. "In Soviet Russia, you wear headphones on your genitals" Or maybe that's Ari....wherever he is!
  21. Very Happy Birthday!
  22. The Elacs are such great over-achievers! Used to own the Debut 6's, now have the 6.2's after hearing them at a dealer. Yet another thing I bought but haven't used yet ?
  23. FWIW, there's some good press on the (latest revision) of the SMSL SU-8 DAC. ESS 9038PRO chipset, remote control with preamp out. I have one that hasn't left the box yet. If it's for you Bryan (IE, the proverbial "friend") I can lend it to you for a bit.... Normal cost is I think $250.....sometimes on Massdrop for $200 or so.
  24. Awww, dang.....Tim Conway, too! SOOOO many memories of Carol Burnett show.... RIP to a truly great comedian!
  25. RIP Doris, sweet and beautiful..... Already said my RIP for Peggy above, but had totally forgotten she was married to Quincy Jones, and mom to Rashida Jones (who I have loved in all but the last season of Angie Tribeca)
