  1. Gotcha....yeah, I had read that the father's mother had some predictions that came true about her son's life, and one of them was that her grandkids would sing/be in a band. So the father forced them to practice constantly & play, and was quite restrictive in allowing them to do much else for much of their time.
  2. ^^^ Basically 3 sisters (and later a 4th IIRC) from NH who's dad wanted some kind of stardom so forced them to play and managed them..... They win one of the best-named songs (early on....these days it's a free-for-all) with "My Pal Foot Foot" EDIT: holy shit! I knew they were cult-ish, but a musical, tribute bands, and more? Yikes!
  3. ^^ So I had to look this up, and apparently Santa riding on an elephant is traditional in Thailand! Learn something new every day.....
  4. Went out to dinner to celebrate (belatedly) my son's birthday. On the way back from dropping off my mother-in-law, saw this:
  5. Hope the day is as joyous as the Holiday!!
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. RIP Ram Dass....a legacy of love.....
  8. ^^ No cool pictures also means no blackmail, so there's that......
  9. Up near our condo in Maine is a place that has this tree:
  10. I heart this so much, the ONLY holiday album I can listen to almost any time.....
  11. Elear has an edge to it in the upper mids/lower highs to my ears....admittedly a very short listen. Clear is a lot like what Tyll said about it IMO: a little more balanced tonally than the Utopia even, though it lacks that eerie-good transparency of the Utopia. I've never heard it, just read about it; but some of the tonal issues with the Elear are supposedly slightly better in the Massdrop Elex. But like the Clear vs Utopia, not as transparent a sound for Elear/Elex as compared to the Clear.
  12. In these days of buzzwords and theories on what an old company used to call "Human Capital Management" it's a pretty core thing to indeed just treat people like people. Good luck with the writing Jacob!
  13. I now own 2 of them (*)....especially when driven by Doug's/ECP's DSHA-3F, it is perhaps the best dynamic system I've heard. (*) I had one, and bought a used one for an insanely good price with the intention of giving it to my son for his birthday and holidays; but he seems to like the Elear with its warts, and the Clear sounds pretty nice out of the RME ADI-2....we'll see, he may choose them anyway
  14. I really wanted to like that, it came VERY close.....but I kept on coming back to a word used a lot in the days of Punk rock: Poseur.....
  15. More Pink? Or more Floyd? Oh by the way..... I actually like some of this stuff, I lost interest in the Roger Waters "takeover" albums.......
  16. And much more ripe, too ?
  17. ^^ like the banana taped to the wall.....
  18. This "conversation" reminded me of a time when some friends and I went to a Red Sox game. We're in the bleacher seats, yapping away with each other and these two guys in front of us. All of a sudden a stunningly gorgeous redhead, with a near perfect body, comes up the stairs in our direction. You literally heard a mash of conversation from about 7 people literally come to a complete halt all at the same time, as we all stared and virtually drooled. After she passed us, we realized that each one of us had completely shut up all at the exact same time. We started laughing, and I asked, "What's the score.....?" The guy in front of me, staring longingly and lost into nothing, says, "Two......" Good times....
  19. ^^^ Haven't heard that, have and like a lot of her music....thanks for posting it.....
  20. RIP Marie....and a big Fuck You to cancer....?
  21. RIP Pete Frates, who helped make the ALS "Ice Bucket Challenge" go viral. ALS is a horrible disease, one of my son's classmates had his dad pass from it as well....
  22. Thanks all! A good day was had, lounging by the pool during the day, out to dinner with friends at night. Heading home from Florida today, not looking forward to snow, and work. I actually got called for an emergency issue yesterday from work, but was able to give direction to resolve in about 2 minutes.....felt good to help and not feel stressed.....
  23. That looks simply awesome, Al....really like my Brooklyn Bridge too!
  24. Happy Birthday!!!
  25. Posthumous Leonard Cohen album....story is that he recorded the vocals, and his son carefully helped build out the backing music. I liked this....not ALWAYS what I would picture as his music, but still good.
