  1. Oh, shit.....so very sorry Steve. And yes, SO glad you got to talk with her and tell her you love her. Massive hugs!
  2. RIP Stan....didn't realize the connections, Wayne. Steve: I had to look up Ida....seeing obit's that are older.....not even sure who it is, pardon my ignorance. Also: RIP Mike Peters, lead singer for The Alarm. Lived with a blood cancer for MANY years, but it got worse towards the end; fuck cancer!! He did some good things to help support cancer research and help others with the disease. Morbid humor: I guess he went on down and met his maker. (see lyrics from the song The Stand).
  3. Wish I had seen them.....came close, but I didn't know who they were early on. In 1979, I was working as part of the "Miscellaneous" (aka "Shit") Crew at a hotel in Lynn, MA. It had The Main Act, a concert club, attached to it. I was only 14 at the time and working with a permit. But even though underage, they let me stay for shows sometimes. Saw some great local and a few national/international bands. Even met a drunk/high Glenn Tilbrook from Squeeze! In any case, I saw an ad for Pere Ubu that they were playing, but they were in suits & ties in the ad. So I dismissed them, and regret it now as I never got the opportunity to see them after that. I think I would have loved them.... RIP David Thomas.
  4. Belated Happy Birthday! Hope it was grand!
  5. Very different, and very cool! Thanks!
  6. Welcome back!! I hope you and cats are all well!
  7. Wasn't sure the best place to post, but this is pretty cool. Chris is my nephew, he is brilliant (as is my niece, they met at MIT). https://www.nasa.gov/news-release/nasa-astronaut-chris-williams-assigned-to-first-space-station-mission
  8. So sorry Todd.....even seeing the recent deaths posted here, I always look at pets as the perfection of love without conditions. Their passing hurts so much too.
  9. Happy Birthday Doug!!
  10. Massive hugs Al....feeling your pain. RIP and the largest fuck I can wish on cancer!
  11. Got to see the Jam in Boston before they broke up, my first big concert (had seen a band or two in smaller venues). They recorded it for the radio and my friend Steve was interviewed briefly after the show. He made it onto a bootleg of the show. They just released a proper version I think, but he's not on that one.....
  12. ^^ Every time I meet someone named Sharon I think in my head about "...sharing Sharon's outlook on the topic of disease...." 🤣
  13. Hope it's an awesome day and more, Al!
  14. Did a little "audio therapy" last weekend with an audio buddy. Visited one of my 2 favorite dealers and did some nice listening to YG Acoustics....have loved their stuff for years.
  15. Listened to a couple things, one of which is a "catharsis" recording for me. Back in 2001, Karen was first diagnosed with breast cancer. Our son Andrew was all of 1.5 years old, and I imagined him not having a mother. This album by Beth Nielsen Chapman was done after her husband died of cancer. I spent many a night listening to this, bawling my eyes out. To say the least, more tears when I pulled it out again. The London Grammar album is a great one, just listened to that one again for enjoyment.
  16. X2, may the healing be quick and full!
  17. Happy Birthday Nate!
  18. ^^ I didn't realize that was a real song. Thought it was made up for Revenge Of The Nerds....
  19. RIP to my beautiful wife Karen Greenfield. She passed peacefully overnight, after we all said our goodbyes, as well as having other family and some friends talk to her on speakerphone as well. Thank you all for your compassion and kind words, and for letting me vent. Our son Andrew and I will of course go on, but there is already an ache I have, reflected in a large and emptier house. Please raise a glass at some point for her and our family, and think kindly on a wonderful and beautiful woman.
  20. Very Happy Birthday!
  21. Belated Happy Birthday Dan! Hope the travel ended up OK and you have a better day today!
