Haven't slept well the last couple, and limited meetings today. So while working from home, and no one else in the house, have been listening to some interesting wake-me-the-fuck-up music. Converge/Chelsea Wolfe - Bloodmoon: I

So TIDAL is apparently catching up a tiny bit with the times....just got an email, and they now have 3 tiers: Free tier with basically MP3 quality HiFi tier with CD ( ? ) quality HiFi Plus tier with HiRez quality where available I was in the HiFi tier, and got upgraded to HiFi Plus at same price. No word of course on MQA.....at least not in the skimming I saw. I'll likely hang on to it for longer now, but will see about ultra-long-term.

RIP to my stepmom, Ann, 81. She had several issues in the last years, and a few weeks ago broke many ribs on one side in a fall. But she had been in and out of rehab and seemed to be doing well. A downturn due to dehydration landed her back in the hospital last night. She got fluids and was feeling better, but apparently had heart failure at night in her sleep. Feel horrible for my dad - despite some deep-at-times divorce baggage, I know she was great for him and they had ~47+ great years together. And my sister (adopted by my dad from Ann's first marriage) was SO incredibly close with her mom, as were her twin children. She and I are pretty close, having grown up together (I saw her weekends at my dad's) in our formative years. Spent the day at my dad's with a fair bit of the family. I was mixed in my original feelings (Ann kind of ignored my wife and my oldest brother's family to some extent), but seeing all the things that SHE helped make a home, made me realize I will miss her more than I thought. I always had a theory with my family: enjoy the good, ignore the bad. And there was a lot of good.

Sorry to hear, Chris, condolences to family and friends...and of course fuck cancer!! Also: Only read about this on a Loreena McKennitt newsletter, but RIP (October 12th) to Paddy Moloney of the Chieftans - he had played on all 44 ( ! ) of their albums. The pipes have called....

Some of those are outright blasphemous....! I'm with you overall on "Low" (my son listened to it for a short spell, I told him never to play it in my presence) -
Happy Belated!

Sorry to be a PF snob, but it's Syd. Funny thing though: I had a picture disc bootleg of him, called "Unforgotten Hero." But they spelled his name Sid..... 😣
