What is that 3rd Lori Carson album? Don't have that, need to look it up..... She has the BEST song cover in the Tod Rundgren cover "I Saw The Light"

And for the opposite end of the harshness spectrum....

This is a great album; don't have much by her, but this ranks as my fave. As for me....

Agreed (and I like your smiley looking like your Avatar) I'm always pleasantly amazed that Eastern Electric builds as good sounding stuff at such cheap prices. Far East manufacturing helps obviously, but it goes beyond that..... -
Barri - Lovelight Shining; nice modern Reggae-influenced. And, this guy's my cousin by marriage . Get it real cheap on Amazon.com

Per 6Moons news snippet: I've liked their products I've had or heard, this sounds pretty nice. Sounds far enough off, we'll see if it comes in with that estimated price intact....

Got some good time with the headphones as well as speakers tonight.... Cowboy junkies, Trinity Revisited - sounds great through 'phones Einsturzende Neubauten - The Jewels Mission Of Burma - Signals Calls and Marches (saw these guys live in 1979, GREAT show!) And even a tiny bit of vinyl; another of my sub-$1 steals from a weekend record show Bruce Cockburn - Stealing Fire

Yes, I would, but can't afford right now. I've been on a rollercoaster of analog sources, peaking with SOTA Sapphire and Rega P25, with middle of the line Thorens and Music Hall (which Deepak has/had). The Teac was a reaction to my wife almost destroying needles/cartridges. I still use a Primare Phono Pre, and it actually still sounds, uhhhh, respectable EDIT:

God bless you, my man!! I got this same vinyl, and love it (even on my crappy Teac TT). "Decades" just ripped right through me, that keyboard has deep soul. Also have Unknown Pleasures on same vinyl..... As for me, work is fun with minimal meetings. I am hearing:

Interesting, re: Pre on VZW. I had actually thought I read that there was "writing on the wall" it would not end up being on the network. Well, sounds like I'll have choices, that's a good thing. BTW, one of my favorite videos:

Went to a record & CD show today, got some good $5 CD's, and a bunch of $1 (or less! One table gave me 11 for $5) vinyl. Some stuff I got, to which I have listened: (on CD) (on CD) (on vinyl) (on vinyl - just put this on)

I just saw this ad today, actually kind of liked it. It sounds like they won't be getting the Palm Pre either.... I've been holding out for a decent do-a-lot phone, hopefully what they DO get is worthwhile.

I bought one of the Boston Acoustic Horizon table radios for my outside deck. Sound is decent, maybe a little midbass muddy. Has radio, extra inputs, and headphone output (never tried, perhaps a little scared to ). One Call has a deal on refurb units with ipod docks. EDIT: 1 year warranty, 3 year replacement warranty = $22. I may get a second one for that price.... Have read back and forth on quality, but no probs with mine.

I may have posted this elsewhere..... My wife screws up some lyrics horribly. But the funniest to me is a Beatles mix-up: "Ola di, ola da, my cousin...bra....la la la life goes on" (cousin pronounced coo-ZAHN). I also had a cute one with my son. When he was between 2 and 3, and we'd give him baths, he'd like to have the radio on. Often, classic rock was the choice. And several times, when the Rolling Stones "Ruby Tuesday" tune came on, he'd sing along: "Goodbye...see ya Tuesday....." I've screwed up a lot of lyrics in my days, too. One nice thing, though: I was a big fan for a while of the Cocteau Twins, and NO-ONE knew the real lyrics except Liz Frasier! So it didn't matter how I sang along....

Listened to "Atmosphere" twice.....needed some uplifting music this a.m.

Could be, they are from the NE/Atlantic area. They are kind of metal/industrial goth, and the lead singer sounded like old Bauhaus-era Peter Murphy....a LOT. They used to play Providence, RI a lot, there is/was a good alt club there, forgot the name at the moment. Myspace Link

Wow, Ian, cool stuff indeed! Reminds me almost of a female Nick Cave, Western Noir is pretty apt. Her cover of The Gun Club's "She's Like Heroin To Me" is pretty very different, but I like it.... Will definitely check out more, thanks.

Definitely agree! On the anniversary of his death, I watched that video 6 times during the day. What a powerful and emotional song in his hands..... And a couple more: * Holy Cow - Work (lyrics: work....work...work...work....work...work...eat....sleep...work...work......, continuosuly over a droning guitar and percussion a la metal banging. Crescendos to a scream of work....work....eat....sleep....and DIIIIIIEEEEEEEE) Kind of how I've been feeling recently * Gordon Lightfoot - Carefree Highway, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

The amp looks like one of those Chinese imports, like a Qinpu or the like. Not sure it'd be great, but as Hopstretch says, if RBH is involved, I'd be given to trust it. The speakers look pretty nice, though. I'm surprised they are Beryllium woofers, I thought that was pretty pricey stuff (or maybe just to apply a coating layer to tweeters, a la Focal).
