  1. Thanks all! Hopstretch, I DID shovel the walk....and the driveway. But it felt good to breath some cool clean air, and get this fat ass excercising a bit. Otherwise, a good "veg day" spent part of the time with my wife and son, watching the Bruins beat up Toronto and Phil Kessel go -3 on the game (DVR'd), and watching the Patriots choke like the Red Sox of yore...oh, well, can't be perfect.... "Bayou Catfish" for dinner tonight at a local fish restaurant.....yum. Love my family, happy they are in my life. Gettin' old don't suck when life is like this!
  2. My favorite band, and a nice respite from the insanity....
  3. Either that's a cool "motion" cover, or I've been working too hard today!
  4. David Slyvian - Secrets of the Beehive
  5. I get no noise when I cut my cable.....
  6. Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions - Bavarian Fruit Bread
  7. My library uses Madgascar Ebony. Bully on you, I say But yeah, I'd be surpirsed if they built them, too. And I think the pads are indeed very odd.
  8. This is perhaps my favorite album of theirs....great stuff..... For me: Chameleons UK - Tripping Dogs and same band, What Does Anything Mean Basically
  9. Hope that works out well; it looks kinda nice for the size. I ended up biting on the Chestnut Hill George, due Veteran's Day. Not going to have too much listening time initially - lots of day and night plans, then family stuff even on the weekend - but hope to get a good taste of it quickly enough.
  10. ^^^ Saw this on Letterman last night, funny stuff. He was doing a parody of the 60 Minutes special on the H1N1 vaccine, and showed this as a reason why it's not as "available" as it should be.....
  11. To change the direction completely, I just got an email from buy.com with 50% off the Chestnut Hill George in it.... I like the remote on it, good stuff for us lazy folk.
  12. In celebration of Halloween.... and Love the intro write-up for Gravest Hits: "...and Lux Interior, the band's frontal lobe, wherein Elvis gets crossed with Vincent Price and decent folks ask, 'What hath God wrought?' "
  13. People get pretty defensive about their products, whether owners or (even more so) manufacturers. I have dealt with Bill before, and I believe he is one of the nicer folks in the industry. I was sorry to see the sarcasm in his post; he must not have read the intro message Ultimately, yes, this will be built towards a price point. I don't expect it to sound as good as the TPA-DIY unit I have, which cost me $1250. But at about 1/2 that price, this should be a great DAC to get MANY people a very good taste of what can be done with this chip. And FWIW I have owned or heard 3 different EE products before (CD, pre, and phono pre), and they all seemed to do more than their price suggests. So I am looking forward to this. Ultimately, I'd like to see a no-holds-barred unit built around this, too, though!
  14. We had a good Halloween in my town. We're in a pocket of a neighborhood, with dozens and dozens of houses....maybe close to 100, I never actually counted. Every year, we get tons of "imports" here: folks from other neighborhoods, or even other towns, who come to our fine feeding frenzy. I generaly overestimate the candy to get, but we're easily over 10 bags each year. This year, I think I got 11 bags, but realized that a few were jumbo bags, so we do have leftovers. But more than anything else that struck me this year, the fact that the politeness level was at an all-time high was amazing. We've always had idiots who grab a handfull and walk away; folks that don't really dress up; folks that never say hello or thank you. But this year, despite a few non-costumes, almost everyone was polite and "into it." Made for a very special Halloween this year......
  15. re: unnamed Lori Carson album D'oh! Glad you can figure out what I can't count! Thanks for the info, that's one I've never heard. But it sounds quite interesting.
  16. Updated info..... No XLR outs, it would have used opamps to do, not true balanced. Swithcable SE tube/SS output (SS is via socketed opamps). More info on Audiocircle thread Pre-order = $645. May just have to try this.... [looks in wallet, blows dust away....]
