  1. It's funny, I think I'll be cheering for Montreal more this year again....as a Bruins' fan, that's nearly blasphemy! But they are just a fun team to watch. Hopefully Price will keep up the good work, and ignore the dumber of the fans and media. As for the Leafs, I expected them to be better this year. Yes, the fans deserve it, they are some of the most hard-core (excuse me) in hockey. But, I'd still prefer if they tanled one more year; Bruins have their 1st round draft pick coming up
  2. If the cups are made with carbon, we can call it the CO2.....
  3. Bruins loused it up in Prague.....they did not look at all together until parts of the third, but I'm still quite positive because of that stretch. Nathan Horton on track for 164 goals this season Man, I hope Savard gets healthy soon (for himself first of course, but for the Bruins as well).
  4. Moar Deutsch Marks.......
  5. Yes, but MOP over Ruthenium......there you go....... Oddly, I'm reading a Clive Cussler book right now, Arctic Drift, and Ruthenium plays a major part in it.
  6. This reminds me a tiny bit of what my British friend called a "Cheese Beanie." Looked ALMOST like that, but slightly more appetizing (and admittedly, tasted pretty good). Needed a bit of Marmite was all I used to like some of the Ultrasones, tried several. Realized quickly enough that it just wasn't real, and never looked back. The closest I got to keeping one was an HFI-2200ULE, if I have the model right. That one was the least of all evils. Haven't heard the Edition series, though, and probably won't; I like my shingles shitless.
  7. Belated congrats! And Nate: we'd (I'd) love to hear the follow-up on how things went when you presented the family the $ and told them about how it was raised...... Just a very cool thing you did!
  8. So question: is the Valhalla the latest FOTM on H-F now? I don't dare read......(I only visit H-F for the naked pictures....I mean, the marketplace forums....not the articles) In all seriousness, for anyone that can wade through the crap and get a concept of how the Asgard really sounds, I'm hoping for realistic thoughts on the relative merits of the Valhalla. Gene's input is intruiging, especially considering the source and the fact that it worked well with high sensitity, low impedence IEM's. I still have my Asgard, but it don't get used so much.... O2 rig for most listening, but I still like the refinement of the Millet Max for casual dynamic listening. Might consider a move from Asgard to Valhalla.
  9. I had and liked the Shanling PCD-3000A, it can double-duty as a player, has variable RCA outs, remote control (including the volume out), and even a cheap but decent headphone amp. A couple have gone used on H-F for < $200.
  10. My condolences to Todd and his family, and the friend's family as well. Only spoke once and emailed once with Todd, but this is clearly a good guy who has a passion for this hobby.
  11. There had been some write-ups before, I think ET may have had this at a show of some sort. But this had to be over a year ago, it's odd that there hasn't been as much press.....
  12. One more for the win....oh, WISH Very Happy BDay, and enjoy the weekend!!!
  13. You're not alone.....I felt the same way when I demo'd the 840c against a better-in-many-aspects Primare player. The upper mids were the part that bothered me the most. Back on topic...... I prefer the "Backstroke of the West" to all edited or undedited versions.....
  14. Does the Droid X use Andoird 2.1? I've read that 2.2 is a nice boost up..... I have a 1st Gen Droid, like it a lot too. I'm also curious about tablets (non-phone) that are coming out with Android OS on them. Some of the Chinese imports do, but Archos is introducing a whole line of iPod Touch-like players to iPad-like tablets - max price $399 IIRC. Could be pretty fun.....
  15. Some pretty good reading on another forum I frequent: Outdoor grilling, Grills and cooking tips - Tweak City Audio and Smoking meat - Tweak City Audio Used to be a GREAT thread on AV123 forums, but since they went belly-up it disappeared. It talked a lot about the BGE's, and some competition. Plenty of food forums out there to check out, too, if you have the patience.
  16. Hmmmm, interesting observations on the Lavry, thanks for them. I owned the DA-10 for a while, guess I didn't fiddle with it enough! I'm enjoying the Parasound 1600HD now, though (along with a couple Sabre32 implementations, DIY Buffalo32 and EE Minimax DAC); so I may not be tempted to bite the Lavry apple again too soon. Oh, and BTW, nice Bill & Ted reference!
  17. ^^^ These sound exceptionally good driven by the Audio-GD gear, too! But I'd consider a J$ replacement headband, the weight of them will pull down on your head.
  18. Actually, it'd work fine if he put it in a coconut shell
  19. Searched this forum, didn't see it before. I tried a couple of Mr. Kim Dao's adapters years ago, as part of a discount-for-review program when he first went into business. They didn't do well in my system, he thought it was a mismatch with my modded CD player. Still, he posted the review, hats off to him. Over the years, I've seen his diatribe grow. But methinks he may have gone over the edge now. Read if you can.... Dakiom MA203 &diy5, proven For Sale | AudiogoN
  20. Interesting, I would not normally describe any implementation I've heard of the Sabre32 DAC as "warm." But I thought the comments overall were interesting. I have heard a glare with the 840c that bothered me some, it was more upper mids/lower treble as I thought; I'm wondering if that's what he refers to. I strongly preferred a Primare CD player that I compared to the Cambridge.....
  21. Haj, just because you have a baby now doesn't mean you should get on Head-Case THIS early
  22. I owned the EC/SS a couple years ago, and own the Schiit Asgard now. Apples and Oranges, since no direct comparison, but I'd classify the Schiit as more dynamic/powerful, and slightly more fun. The EC/SS is more maybe refined and slightly more neutral IIRC. EC/SS went well with my Grado's and Deepak's HP-2 at the time, and even managed to make a Beyer sound pretty decent. The Schiit is likely to be more suitable for more variety of cans, though. The EC/SS sounded decent, but a bit lifeless on some of the cans I threw at it (couple AKG's most noticably, 271's and 701's). I don't have those same cans now, but the Schiit would likely have more dynamic sound. Haven't listened to it for a few weeks now, but that midrange glare I heard in my first days listening was still there slightly at last run. Not wholly intrusive, but noticable to me. My 2 cents, worth probably about half that.....

  24. Thanks, guys, didn't realize he posted to H-F. Appreciate your responses there and here!
  25. Couldn't find based on a couple searches, but admittedly didn't exhaustively search. So if some kind soul can put away a shovel and answer me this, it'd be much appreciated. I sold off a brielfy-used Stax SRM-007t II when I got JP#'s exStatA. I had no issues with the volume controls, and L/R trackign was fine. Buyer doesn't have phones yet, nor someone near him with phones to borrow. But he noticed that the L/R volume controls behave differently. One rotates nearly 360 degrees ("normal"), but the other goes around and around. No mention of catches or clicks.....I also need to get clarification on which does what.... But wanted to throw this out here. Can someone tell me if this is normal behaviour/function? Truth be told, I never tried to trun the volume separately that way....not like that's normal bevaior, I guess Any info appreciated. Thanks, Todd.
