  1. Happy Birthday! Celebrate like it's the weekend
  2. Good stuff! I always liked the bang for the buck of their early Link DAC....briefly heard a Platinum DAC at a dealer's, it was a consignment sale beyond my price even used. But it sounded REALLY nice, even in an unfamiliar system..... Now I just to figure out a good pun about resisting the resistors....
  3. RIP good man......
  4. Good stuff, Tom, congrats! We refinanced, went from a 30-year to 15 and still saved > $300/mo in payments. We've timed it just so we'll be paid off before our son goes to college....just in time for more possible debt!
  5. We used a portable Delonghi in our half finished basement for several years, pretty much continuously during the summers. A nice workhorse. But if you don't want to be emptying the water container every other day, it's best to find a way to pipe it outside or at least to some kind of drainage. We ended up spending the $ and putting a permanent unit in the unfinished portion of the basement, with A/C style piping to the finished side. The good news is that's it's quieter when you're in the room, the bad news is that the dry air being pumped in is warm, which makes it warmer in the summer.....
  6. ^^^ Listening to this as well today.....so far so good
  7. Sorry as well, Raffy, hope everyone is doing OK....my sympathies.......
  8. Many congrats Chris! Rest well, and enjoy! Al: maybe you know a good lawyer? Seriously, hope it all ends soon....and well.

    Turn Me On

One country-oriented female vocalist I've always recommended, and about whom received generally good feedback, is Tift Merritt. There's one song I love by her that takes country and dabbles it in classic 60's soul.....Good Hearted Man She also has some nice versions of another song I like, Stray Paper, on youtube. I just recently picked up the Alison Brown CD "Stolen Moments." Similar at times to Alison Kraus, but also delves into some jazzier sounds, and is a great listen.
  10. Happy Birthday gents!
  11. Nice indeed, Deepak! What kind of condition are they in?
  12. Very Happy Birthday Amos! Hope it was a great one
  13. Have Cheez-it's, trying the Cocoa
  14. Wow, I had heard sleep apnea can cause other issues, didn't realize it could be to that degree..... Took my son to his soccer game today, they won 7-1 and he got a decent goal. Then off to my mother's for a visit, as she was in the next town over fromt eh soccer game. Nice time all around.
  15. Happy Birthday Jim! Drink well

    R.I.P. R.E.M.

Have to say, I wasn't the biggest fan of their last several albums. I respected the hell out of them, but the first two will always be my faves. Maybe because of the time they were done, and my age and place in life..... Still, an great indelible mark on music history!
  17. Happy Birthday! Hope it is/was/will be a great day and night!
  18. They played LWTUA, all of the Closer album, several older songs from singles or Still, a couple from Unknown Pleasures, and finished their third encore (!) with Atmosphere and Ceremony. Almost 2 hours long, just amazing!
  19. Went to see Peter Hook & The Light last night, at a nice smaller club in Boston. They did the entire Joy Division "Closer" album, plus a heck of a lot more! Almost 2 hours, with 3 encores of some great music. Joy Division held the title of my favorite group for many a year in the 80's and 90's, and this was an incredible stroll down memory lane. Some pics attached. First is sign in bathroom that had to be taken, second and third Peter, fourth is Peter's son (who played damn well). EDIT: just found out his son was playing another Bass; this guitarist was not family
  20. Sheep, beer and wine...THAT'S a party! Glad it was a great time, very happy birthday!
  21. Happy Birthday Deepak! May it be an aurally and otherwise ecstatic
  22. Happy Belated! I remember a nice M^3 I bought from you; sounded great, but you were admittedly new to the whole casework thing Still miss that baby, though..... Hope your day was a good one!
  23. Nice thrice (or can I only say that to Thrice?)
  24. Good luck to your dad Marc, sending best wishes that way! Haj, too bad you didn't get pics up at Acadia, but even those don't do it justice IMO....truly a beautiful place with the small sandy beach area, lake (Jordan Pond), mountians, forest, and ocean. My wife and I spent 5 days in that area when my son went to sleep-away camp.... BTW, was the bad restaurant experience @ Jordan Pond, or elsewhere in Bar Harbor area? We had a very good experience - twice - at Jordan Pond.
  25. Good to see all the hopeful news, wishing everyone the best, from dads to motherfucking blanket sellers to child-bottle-feeders to vacationers to back patients I just got back from the vet taking my two cats in for check-ups. The larger one that is sleek and strong like a panther (Gryphon; keeping my tradition of naming cats after stereo equipment) was the world's biggest wimp, while the normally skittish one (Tab; not stereo, my wife and son overruled me) took it all like a trooper. Two shots each, handled well, but both are happy to be home.
