  1. Ugh....Caps win again, can close out Boston on home ice tomorrow..... Dan, like I said, I really don't get to games to justify a "wear the enemy's shirt" bet, but we can chat about something....hoping beyind hope it doesn't come to anything, but not looking too rosy at this point. All these games are close one goal games, which is amazing. But if the Bruins have also lost Patrice Bergeron for the next game, they could be quite sunk.... Still hoping for the best (by my measures), but preparing for the worst. I'd like to see Rangers go all the way if the Bruins don't.....
  2. This whole playoff race is just weird. Detroit, Vancouver, Pittsburgh WITH Crosby and Malkin.....all facing elimination in round 1. Bruins and Caps are still quite enjoyable. Bruins not playing up to their potential, with the 4th liners having more points then the first liners! Some hats off to Caps and the way they're playing, but sometimes it looks like the Bruins just aren't trying. Holtby had a good game last night, but the Bruins are also not TRULY challenging him the way the Caps do Thomas. I still think he will be a very good goalie in time, but they are talking about him like he's the next Ken Dryden If the Caps beat the Bruins, and the Rangers beat the Senators, I think the Rangers will take the Caps; they play a more in-front-of-the-net physical game than the Bruins are right now, and game 3 showed the Caps weaknesses when that happens. A similar shutdown defense and a good goalie in NY too. Of course I hope it's the Bruins going on..... Going to watch Philly and Pitt soon, dying to see if the Flyers get angry enough to come back strong; Pitt made QUITE the statement in game 4. Staal - ALL the brothers - can be a beast when he steps up.
  3. Agree w/Dan. Many times you hear of the hi-rez format being specially made from some better master than other sources. Since it's a niche market they sell to, it becomes a marketing/selling point, as well as something that gives potentially better sound.....
  4. Scary shit indeed, glad you're OK!
  5. ^^ Agreed, some amazing defensive hockey if you can appreciate that. I also love the total fucknuts play of the Penguins/Flyers, though, and am also happy to see the Pens go down. If the Caps end up beating the Bruins, having (hopefully) Pittsburgh and Vancouiver both go out will make the loss less painful.
  6. Son's soccer game, they lost 1-0 but they held their own and it should have been worse. Then took son and his friend/teammate for homemade frappes from a dairy farm. Then home, errands, and watched the Bruins fail. Buffalo (Bison meat, not hot style) sausages for dinner made it a bit more bearable.
  7. Got one back, Dan.... Good game by the Caps, they aren't letting the Bruins look good. The B's top two lines aren't scoring; some has to do with lack of effort I think, but the shutdown play by the caps has been good. Perimiter shots msotly, and good rebound control by the D. More enrgy in the first period too. On to DC.....how many fans will wear Obama masks?
  8. Well, if it doesn't work, then science becomes just art!
  9. No crap yet....a tough first game, Caps hung in there for two periods then turned it on some in the third. Still impressed with Holtby, even if not now, he'll be something pretty special methinks given some good coaching. He seems to have MOST of the the angles and the raw talent right now. Rebound control will be big ongoing, but last night the D did a nice job in front of him. Some folks on a hockey board were calling out Wideman last night for that goal; overall, I thought he did pretty well, better than much of what we saw in Boston. We'll see if the next game is one where the Caps pick up off the momentum they had and the good job in game one, or if they give up a little bit. Game 2 will be huge for the series methinks.....
  10. Sure....something alcoholic perhaps? I believe you had the "wear the enemiy's shirt" bet with Guillaume, but I don't hit the games too often if I were to lose. After seeing the first period, and this Holtby kid, he looks pretty sound on the initial shot. Giving up some rebounds, but the Caps defense has been pretty good so far.....
  11. Several surprises....Pens looked unbeatable for a while in that game, then the botched off-sides non-call for the first Flyers goal changed the momentum. I also think it'll be a wild series..... LA beating Vancouver suprised me a bit....without one of the Sedin's, though, the Vancouver chemistry seems to suffer a bit, at least in playoff intensity hockey. And Detroit losing....ripples in the force? Can't say for sure, but it IS certainly an odd event to see them beat in a playoff game by Nashville. Hats off to the Preds.... Looking forward to Bruins/Capitals tonight. Another possible "trap" series, with the Bruins possibly underestimating the Caps and Backstrom in and likely playing his usual great way - I'm worried Semin will feed off of him and get involved.....still think the Bruins will take it, in 5 or 6. I'm just loving that playoff hockey is here again!
  12. Good luck with the on-call. Haven't done that for years either, don't miss it at all (especially since the application I was supporting at that time was designed by a dolt and needed almost nightly attention). Do you get extra $ for being on-call....?
  13. Pink Floyd's WYWH SACD,,,,,haven't listened yet, hope to tonight....
  14. Vacations with sick people (or heavily teething babies in our case years ago) do not rule....hope everyone feels better/OK.......
  15. Just don't talk work at home and all will be well.....I used to work with a husband and wife who lived by that rule and it was AMAZINGLY successful. They talked home at work but almost never vice-versa. If that fails, just remind her YOU have seniority
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. I take it to mean that it will pierce your eardrums and give you a pounding headache.
  18. Dammit....I took the RED cube, I knew I should have taken the blue cube
  19. That Marshall stack pic is great! Seen a lot of shows in my years with equipment bearing that man's name. RIP.....
  20. Happy Birthday Sir!
  21. Thanks.....I'll definitely pick the SACD up.....I heard more fo the music, it's good but not quite up to the originals IMO. But it's quite good.....
  22. Happy Birthday Mike!
  23. Good luck with it all Ken. Glad things are at least the best they can be in the situation....
  24. Got a Starbucks gift card from work as part of a reward, so aside from liquids picked this piece of hipster music up....actually not bad, light slightly jazzy funk fun.
  25. Some fun while honey-do choring: Joanna Newsom - The Milk-Eyed Mender Heather Nova - 300 Days At Sea
