  1. NuWave in the house, sounding pretty nice IMO. Not as purely neutral as the NAD M51 on first listen, but a nice mix of hi-fi goodies with musicality. I have owned a Cullen-mod'd DL3, this retains some of that house sound: big sounding, very slightly warm, but good details. Yet it seems to take it a step further, with some pinpoint imaging and more detail. I haven't heard the PWD Mk II, but had a brief listen to the PWD Mk I; and I think this sounds closer to that than to the DL3. Only a few hours so far, but very pleased. Only sour note: there is a problem when I have both balanced and SE connections plugged in. I set up SE to my Rega Brio-R amp, and balanced to my Spritzer-mod'd SRM-Xh. Even with the Stax amp off, the SE outputs are dimmed down to the point where one channel would barely play. I had to unplug the XLR's from the DAC, and all is well and great. Going to read the manual, and maybe ping PS Audio on that....would have liked to have both operative at once, but it's not the end of the world. In any case, with the trade-in (I traded a DAC that cost me all of $89 shipped, for a $300 credit) and cost of $695, I think this is a very good DAC. In the long run, I still will probably be happier with the M51.. But this is just real good stuff. Won't have a ton of time to listen over the next few, but hope to have a few more thoughts at the end of the weekend.
  2. My son actually showed me this one....
  3. Very Happy Birthday!
  4. Pictures Vicki? Nice to hear many good times were had, we're back from NY/NJ, good time there too. My father-in-law waited until literally the lunch before we were leaving to become his grumpy old man self. But all was good, and it's nice to be home with a night and day to spare before the reality of work.
  5. Happy Beerday!!!
  6. Ugh, feel better Haj! I'm down in NY & NJ over the last couple days, it's gorgeous here....

    Thanks Mike, just grabbed one!
  8. Happy Thanksgiving all! Thankful for many things including this place and all who habitually inhabit. Only sad that I can't make the entire dinner out of Twinkies....
  9. I got the same email....but I had signed up directly with them for info on their DACPort some eons ago. I thought it was for that. I'd be kind of pissed if I get a bunch of random emails all of a sudden based on H-F membership.....I'll have to see if there's a Privacy Policy there.
  10. Much luck Jacob!
  11. I actually had to look online....and I realized that a Ho-Ho is basically the same thing as a Drake's Yodel (and I had never paid attention to the manufacturer of Yodels). Kind of liked them, but that was maybe 30+ years ago, so who knows these days. Still, if I knew that the name back then, I would have done the Ho-Ho's and not the Yodels.....
  12. Congrats, crappy! And how was the Ho-Ho, it's something I've never tried? Always wanted to be able to say I ate a Ho-Ho.....
  13. I renewed my license, with eye test, at the Registry today at lunch. Total time from getting number at the counter to walking out the door: 6 1/2 minutes!!!!!! I checked my new temp license, it was NOT from a parallel universe. I actually had an amazingly efficient and pleasant experience!
  14. Happy Birthday JP!
  15. Great Movie! Need to go watch again someday soon....especially a A Fistfull Of Yen
  16. Little girls FTW. My son was always pretty cute, but I think I'd be a total mess if I had a little girl.....completely finger-wrapped for sure!
  17. Whole wheat or gluten-free Twinkies with Soy Protein Cream-like filling.....coming to an Whole Foods near you......
  18. Happy Birthday Alex!
  19. What a great system that looks like, nice work!
  20. Just got an email that my NuWave was picked up by FedEx. Crossing the country via Ground, so not here until after Thanksgiving most likely, too bad.....
  21. Wow, not fun stuff Shelly, glad it wasn't you..... We celebrated Diwali at work today, we have a large contingent of Indian workers. They (and/or spouses) made a ton of homemade food, many came dressed in traditional garb, and we had a nice 2 hour celebration. Was pretty stunning overall!
  22. Hostess is closing down..... http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/finance/20121116/US.Hostess.End.of.the.Road/?cid=hero_media_bos It kind of makes me sad that I went through life and never actually tried a Ho-Ho. Need to find one just for nostalgia.
  23. johnwmclean, great selection of older alternative! Some of my favorite stuff growing up..... I am listening to William Shatner's Seeking Major Tom, it's...priceline-less
  24. Just found out today that surgery was good for an old friend (and current FB friend, though I haven't seen him in MANY years). He had some vertigo issues, and they found fluid and a tumor on his brain. Fluid removed yesterday, surgery today, and it's NOT cancerous! He's in recovery.....so very thankful, and realize how quickly life can turn around.....
