  1. For a little more than the Teac, the Matrix X-Sabre is an option @ $1100. Certainly FOTM-ish, but can handle a lot of files (including DXD). I picked one up, too new to tell how good it'll be, and haven't tried DSD files yet. Bringing it to NY meet today, will have some files up to max 24/192 Rez....
  2. It's weird, at times I've felt like I wanted to see him punished, tortured. My bizarre thoughts drifted towards a vigilante-type capture, and video-taping a process where pliers or something were used to pull off his appendages one by one for all those who lost lives or limbs. Play it on the internet for future possible thinkers like this. "Do this, and we'll find you, and we'll punish you" That is how sick this made me..... And as stories flowed in about who he is, his history, and his age, humanity crept back in. I want to see him punished, I want to understand why - not just from an intelligence-gathering perspective, but from a motivation perspective. Nothing will return the limbs and lives lost. But now it's about breathing, trying to heal, and helping those still in need. www.onefundboston.com, for all those who can help. Donated today at work.
  3. That looks a fair bit like my niece.....but she has better taste than old men in funny looking headgear
  4. Yup, listening live to radio here. They are saying "near" Chechnya....also heard reports they lived in Turkey before coming to US. With one on the loose, several cities are basically in shutdown....public transportation (MBTA) shutdown...... There was another report of a taxi being stopped in Boston (Kenmore Square), reports of two, maybe three, people handcuffed at the curb, and then what was reported a sa "controlled explosion." Not much further news on that, newscasters are clearly stating these are not the bombing suspects, but not much else. This is surreal.....
  5. Supposedly these are the bombing suspects. One confirmed dead, the other still at large. They look like young kids.....what the fuck is wrong with this world??!! Hoping this ends soon, and without further injuries or deaths.....
  6. Wow....admired him without knowing who he was....RIP.....
  7. The sadder news is that his sister has a lost limb, the mother may have brain damage, and only the father and another brother are (physically) unharmed. My wife told me they went off to get ice cream, and otherwise may have suffered the same/similar fate. I cannot imagine the pain they must be going through now.....
  8. Indeed awesome Shelly. I second your stack, with an ECP-inspired one of my own. Ryan's old modded Adcom GCD-750 driving the DSHA-1. Actually glad I got the standard amp, as the custom mods on the Adcom result in lower output. But the music is oh-so-SWEET!
  9. He should be VERY thankful. I heard there may have been an unexploded bomb under the stands! Likely he may have been close to that.....
  10. There are a couple reviews of the iFi USB power supply. Basically offers a power-only USB output (as well as power + signal) that supposedly is cleaner than normal combined signals. Generally positive reviews....I think Art Dudley said some nice things (going on memory, may be wrong; but I've always liked Art's reviews, going back to Listener days).
  11. One of our friends in town is a member of the local news. he also runs the marathon, and was doing so this year. They interviewed him, and he hadn't found his wife at the finish line, they were disconnected for ~45 minutes. Cannot imagine that feeling.... She is a Critical Care Nurse, and she was apparently trying to help anyone she could. What an amazing woman.....
  12. There was an interview with one of the morning radio DJ's, he lives in one of the buildings close to the first explosion. He remarked on the incredible people who were actually running IN to the smoke-filled area to help, while so many others were running out. So far, 8 reported as critical in local hospitals, praying for them and anyone else hurt.....
  13. Apparently 2 bombs have exploded near the finish line, 12+ bystanders injured (including loss of limbs)..... Holy crap.....
  14. ^^^^ need to listen to his stuff, after seeing "Searching For Sugar Man"
  15. That's very good for the first time doing it, Doug. A high school friend of mine does this for a living now, some of his work is quite incredible!
  16. Happy Birthday Jeffy!
  17. Had a nice full weekend of music: - Friday night, at my Temple, they had a service for Yom Hashoah (remembering the Holocaust), We have two cantors who both are very wonderful and emotive singers, and they were accompanied by guitar and violin (including a beuatiful piece from Schindler's List) - Saturday night, my wife and I saw Antje Duvekot, and modern folk singer with a wonderful passion and personality that came out in her songs. - And this afternoon, we saw Hiromi and the Trio Project. While I have picked up her CD's on recommendations here and like them a lot, seeing her and the trio live was simply stunning! I think the nicest part of this all was that my wife really liked Hiromi; normally she doesn't get so excited about most music. It was very nice to share this, and I'm glad she enjoyed it.
  18. True for many, Gene. RIP....
  19. I'm coming, though sorry to hear you may miss it Nate.....sounds like what happens to me often before (though my co-pilot is usually my wife, and it's a mattter of her having made alternate flight plans for us)
  20. Congrats and good luck Shelly!
  21. Such amazing narrative!
  22. The temptation was worth it
