Peter, if it helps at all - could be remote - please feel free to Link In with me, only Todd Samost there. If anything, maybe some of my connections may be able to help....

Good thoughts, Carl....I still haven't tried mine out with a lot of different phones. Briefly plugged in the NAD's and a pair of A-T M50S's, and did get the sense indeed that the Ety's did better, but don't remember the frequency variations as much as you report. A slight darker sound overall, but I wouldn't say to the extremes in mids and up that you experienced. I also used it with headphone out in my car (radio is cheap car radio with AUX in), and liked it a lot better than FM or my iPod plugged in. One specific comparison I made: an ALAC rip of my Anna Calvi s/t CD, onto an iPod Classic 80G, and line out to radio. Not recorded super well, but also have a 24/44.1 FLAC file of it. Even on the POS car radio, the vocals were clearer from the Fio, as well as some of the percussion. Where I am enjoying this thing the most, though, is using the hi-rez files via the digital out into a Neko D-100 Mk II DAC, then into my Lunchbox II or Schiit Vali amp (this amp is another good story). I have been thoroughly enjoying this compact setup with Senn 600's pretty much nightly..... I plan on taking the Fio with me when I visit a stereo store: a nice Black Cat digital cable I have with adapters makes this plug and play with any DAC having a BNC or coax input. So it sounds like there's some similarity in experience, though maybe not to the levels of bad you heard. I like the fact that this has very good sound and is completely portable, but can function like a home hi-rez transport as well. BTW, still think the interface is not great at all, but as mentioned elsewhere it doesn't bother me the way I use it.....

Just back from my Thanksgivukkah celebration: Turkey & Stuffing next to Potato Latkes and Brisket. Major yummage, though, and I'm quite full and happy. Happy everything celebrated to all HC.

Sorry to hear of dental nightmares....my dad was my dentist growing up, so never had fear or a bad experience. Still practices, and my sister is a hygienist. But the office is just far enough away that it takes up a whole day to visit, so i go local now. It's like my dad's office, a bit old school (but with modern tools) and full of decorum that was popular in the 1970's...... Been lucky that, even though I've needed work, it was done pain-free, even without novocaine. First time I had it was for a shallow filling and I asked my dad to give me some because I was having my wisdom teeth out in a couple weeks (did local for that). I might be one of the few screwballs who actually enjoyed his wisdom teeth experience! Jacob, that is kind of cool info, re: hard teeth and not harboring the bacteria....

Glad things went as well as they did Dusty....as Jews say about funerals, "May next time we see you be a mitzvah....". Hope family and friend bonds stay strong, and may they indeed be continued in good times....

Susie is a cutie for sure, that second pic truly defines "puppy dog eyes" And Al, I can't believe you've had Nitro almost 2 years, I still remember the "I'm going to get a Vizsla" posts..... And Quest certainly looks like Man's Best Friend.......

Man, that does suck, so sorry to hear Iain.....hope the last days are sweet and as comfortable as can be for Ozzy.....

Haven't heard it in mine.....soundstage is pretty good for a closed phone, but don't hear any echo/reverb type of effects, and don't remember hearing them on first listens. Still liking the sound on these a lot, they have replaced the X-1's at work since they isolate better. Comfort is still not 100% for me, the clamping on the ears is a tiny bit uncomfy due to the shape of the drivers/pads on my head (not bad pressure, but combined with the fit on/over my ears, it's noticable but not horribly troublesome). I still listen for a couple hours at a time without any problems, though.

I'll try to make this one as well, time will tell as we get closer......

Happy Birthday! Does seem like it's been a while.....

Holy crap, Ric. Glad to hear people are OK, and car damage hopefully minimal. But yeah, that scare, especially with kids in the car, will get the adrenaline pumping. I used to fucking hate those "Baby On Board" signs until we had my son. I still never put them on/in, but understood the concept a lot better. Wayne, sounds awesome, very good & creative planning; the kids should get a big kick out of it!

Off in a few to go to a Kosher Wine Tasting through our Temple's Brotherhood. Should be fun, and somewhat tasty.....

Happy Birthday to you two.....too.......

It'd be kind of gross, but go through the trash, see if there's any identifying info (thrown out mail for example), and the next night empty it on the lawn at that address. Was the bin outside? We have ours in the garage until it goes out for pickup..... Me: got my mother-in-law set up with Comcast today, her first day in her new apartment; also did a fair bit of arranging & additional unpacking. She's nervous as hell, has literally NEVER lived far outside of New York (and is 85). But she has space, a beautiful place, and has met two people already who invited her to afternoon tea or dinner. I really hope this is a sign of good things to come.

I'm with you Iain....I've been the a-hole with the camera held up high recording, as well as trying to look at the stage with one or more of those in my vision. It's for that specific reason that I don't do that anymore, or if I do I make sure it's short or as unobtrusive as possible.....
