  1. The Japanese have a unique ability to make a "toy" out of almost anything!
  2. Happy Birthday!
  3. iPhone picture..... For some of you who remember the better days of H-F, I used to give away some stuff now and then based on dumb contests. One was "where did my cats' names come from" My first cat, Athena, was named after an old company (not the Canadian speaker company) that made an impedance matching device called the Polyphasor - and that became her unofficial middle name. After her, SOTA Moonbeam, a.k.a. the Rambo Bose Kitty. Now, these two cats didn't both follow that convention. I WANTED to name the black and white one Merlin (middle name VSM, Very Scary Merlin), and the tabby one Gryphon (Diablo). But I got overridden and the black one is Gryphon, and the tabby one is Tab (Hunter). But seeing the glowing eyes, I think Gryphon Diablo works well for him..... [/diatribe]
  4. Gryphon (top) and Tab, after a long day of catnaps.....
  5. Wasn't there something for headphone stand design too? Thought I saw an article header, decided not to jump in and read.....
  6. Happy Birthday! Hope your day was warm, dry, and full of good music, food and drink....
  7. Yup. When I first moved into our house, I wondered why my neighbors would go out multiple times during a large storm with their snowblowers (I previously was in places where I or a condo association handled shoveling/plowing). Then I saw the trouble one had when he didn't.... We have a plow service, but we're still out there shoveling the parts they don't get (walkways, right up to the garage doors, steps, etc). Nate, do we get another camera view of your tractor runs?
  8. Good news, Dan.....think the fridge/freezer contents should be OK.....maybe check out/trash the riskiest of things in the fridge
  9. What Nate said, good luck and stay warm and safe, Dan.
  10. Ouch! Nothing serious I hope!
  11. Brave man, Nate. Be safe, and keep your soldering gun hidden
  12. They just cancelled my town, I'll work from home tomorrow..... EDIT: Whoa, Dusty, just read your post....that's some fucked up weather!
  13. Thanks Bryan! The Peated was still very pricey, maybe someday but not right now........
  14. Alright, how the FUCK did I watch Creature Double Feature for YEARS and miss that awesome Gamera theme song?!
  15. I think it's a testament to how people feel about him as an actor, that has caused this discussion/debate. When I heard about it, my reaction was sorrow and some anger. Anger at drugs being the cause, and did it have to be that way.....anger at the loss/wasting of such a talent.....etc.
  16. Sorry to see this life gone.....way too much talent and future. Sorry for family especially.....
  17. I love the Talisker 18 too, even the 10 is pretty good. Just also put in an order for Hakushu 12 from my local guy.....the Peated version would be too pricey for now.....
  18. I enjoy the Hibiki, it was a nice surprise for not big expectations. I like the Yamazaki 12, too......just an easy sip......the Yamazaki 18 was a little sweeter as I remember, been a while; enjoyed that a lot for special drinking. I have seen the Hakushu, but not recently; I'll have to see if my local guy can get a bottle....any thoughts on the "Heavily Peated" Hakushu versus the regular 12?
  19. Wow, RIP to a great great man.....
  20. True, Dan. She doesn't call herself a "real" vegetarian, I'm sure there is a title for what she does (bacon included). Hope you fell better!
  21. I used to own the Ref 3A Royal Masters as well, they did very well with some Wright 2A3 mono's I used to own. I'd also recommend looking at Silverlines. The newest version of the SR-17 is much higher than you're looking to spend, but the previous rev's can be had for that amount or less, if you can find them used.....
  22. I work with a woman who is a bit geeky (she builds her own gaming PC's), and always thought she was a fairly strict vegetarian. No red meats at all, mostly fish and occasionally/rarely poultry. But she just admitted yesterday that she still eats bacon....not TOO often, but loves it. Also stated it as one of the major food groups. I like her more now. Me, today: Boston's Hunger Brunch this morning/afternoon, hanging a bit in town. Then tonight, Jonathan Edwards live. Not a bad day at all.
  23. Good luck, Jacob, hope you get some relief very soon!
  24. Happy Birthday Adrian!
