  1. Heh heh....looks like your work vinyl setup WILL come to fruition Nate (?)
  2. I had that one at my college suite my senior year, would play it on an Onkyo receiver driving (forgot) speakers and a Phase Tech subwoofer. The cannons would literally cause the sub to dance a bit, but it played it pretty damn well. One of my suitemates was a transfer from Norwich University and said it reminded him of "home."
  3. Wow, that's crazy Haj. North Andover is looking pretty good, though some side roads are pretty ugly here too. I don't think we'll get another day cancelled though.

The Z1ES won't do volume control, so unless you want to always adjust at the speaker side you'll need that. I'm using my Airmotiv 4's with a Benchmark DAC-2D (the version without analog in), it is a very nice pairing! I just go USB from laptop, or coax from disc player. Does your Dell not do USB out well? EDIT: in thinking more, do the cheaper Sony, it's $1K and still should sound pretty darn good.
  5. A nice cheap possible option: http://uturnaudio.com/ This was a kickstarter turntable project, likely close to the cheaper Pro-Ject or Music Hall MMF series. Only downside is a 6 week wait.....
  6. I'm in agreement with the "yeah, not really" opinion. Used to own the SA5K's as well, best I heard them driven was with a good DIY Dynahi. It DID take some of the leanness/edge off, but I still would say they weren't so close to the HD-800's.
  7. Yup.... We'll be giving our local specialty store more business. Have to figure out Halloween though..... My wife spent a semester in England though, acquired quite the taste; and just knowing there won't be British Kit Kat's is setting her off like she has the DT's.....
  8. This is an "after" picture of the drift on our deck, my wife took it this afternoon. Andrew and I did some shoveling today, luckily fluffy shit because there was a lot (and we have a plow service too, but he can't get certain areas).
  9. Shit like that just annoys the hell out of me. First time I ever signed an online petition..... We don't do a lot of candy anyway, but certainly won't buy Hershey's brand anymore if we can help it. http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/protest-hersheys-lawsuit?source=s.tw&r_by=12343362 And what does Hershey make: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_products_manufactured_by_The_Hershey_Company
  10. Maybe a little over a foot right now, still coming down steady here too. It's all about the drifts though.....
  11. Congrat, Chris! And CJ, that's....crappy..... Us: just got notice office is closed tomorrow, and son's school is officially cancelled. Will work from home, but will have some fun too outside of shoveling.
  12. Welcome home, Tom!
  13. Ah-yup.....I'm in the same weather "band" as Nate.... My son is quite happy for a snow day Tuesday...apparently it's when the Destiny servers reset something....
  14. Crap, sorry to hear Peter. Can you use insurance to at least replace the hardware?
  15. Didn't know a ton about him, but from all I read, this.....RIP
  16. My favorite ever home-warming present (to my brother and sister-in-law when they bought a new condo and told us not to bring anything) was a can of spam and a can of silly string. It set a nice tone for a very fun weekend. And Stretch: that's just a bit creepy.....
  17. Music first for me, had two older brothers that got me into lots of music. First 45 at 7 years old was the Who "Love Reign On Me" and first LP at 9 was J Geils "Live Full House" Somewhat in parallel to the growing music love, my best friend's dad had an Apple II computer that we used to play/work on in the late 70's. Press the Play button on the portable cassette player, "Loading...." 8-bit madness ensued!
  18. Happy Birthday!!
  19. NH: Live Free Or Die And Play For Bacon. Scratch and Sniff FTW.....
  20. Did you Grahame?
  21. Can we still do a survey about them lying? Viva la barba!
  22. Funny aside to the NFL investigation of properly inflated footballs in AFC Championship game
  23. It sounds like the location and price are good, so I'd be willing to put up with a little more, especially with the Realtor kicking in. As Doug said, while it may be a buyer's market on a macro scale, each house will sell for what the market will bear. And this sounds like a good situation long-term. I'd say fight for what you can, but don't sweat it overall. And as you say, get some other satisfaction that the sellers could have gotten more and aren't.....
  24. That explains a lot. We went up to Montreal & Quebec City last year, and on the way up stopped at a Tim Horton. All 3 of us quite disappointed.....very nice folks serving us, but food & coffee quality sub-par.
