^^ This Is The Sea is a fairly close second in my book, like them both a lot..... Now: some fun Greek Synthpop....2 by Marsheaux, the second being a complete cover of the Depeche Mode album of the same name....
-
Then: Diana Krall - Wallflower. Kind of meh, seems sellout-ish..... Now: Waterboys - Modern Blues. Not bad, but will anything reach the level of Fisherman's Blues?
-
That was just left in someone's back pocket, it's the iPhone "bend" issue.....still good......
-
Just went out myself and cleared out part of our non-plowed-area with Andrew. You're right, Haj, seems to have dropped several inches quickly. And it's fucking cold out too......went quickly through my scarf layer on my face....
-
Going to roof-rake today, just in time for that additional snow that Haj & Nate mentioned......lovely.....
-
I seriously think Mother Nature's New England contingent forgot about us for much of the late Fall & Winter, then said, "Oh, shit....have to make up for that....!"

RIP Rod McKuen......

Crap, Iain, sick going in, sick coming back.....how was the middle? Hope all is OK soon. EDIT: Nate, my wife and I are on AAA for reasons just like that. We even use them for occasional discounts.....

Ouch, ugly shit. No "lights on" alarm or auto-shut-off I'm guessing?

Not just today, but over the last couple days..... Had a chat with my mom who said a long-lost cousin was trying to get in touch with me through Facebook. Hardly get on anymore, but did, and sent a reply. The woman's name was familiar to me, and I found out she and I worked at the same company for ~4 months in the mid-90's. Her grandmother and my grandmother were sisters. So several email exchanges, a family tree on Ancestry.com, and a dropbox download of a recording made in 1977 during the Shiva visit for her grandmother. In that recording MY grandparents and the only other sibling I regularly saw (and her husband) were talking a lot about stories of the "old days" and the family. What a treat! My grandparents both died over 20 years ago, and the other aunt and uncle even before that.... Now we are working on plans to meet up with these long-lost cousins, and enjoying a romp through our family history! I love this stuff.....

^^^ Very cool, Steve! At 16, I had a Fisher all-in-one.....

Cocktail Audio X12? You add the hard drive, up to 4TB. Volume controlled pre-out (RCA's still), can do more if/when you want it to, like if you connect to a good network.....

Craig, don't try Tofu-Bacon then..... I work with a woman who is a Pescetarian (sp? Someone vegetarian plus eats fish). her coolness factor increased multi-fold when she said, "...except for bacon....I have that several times a month...."

Heh heh....looks like your work vinyl setup WILL come to fruition Nate (?)

I had that one at my college suite my senior year, would play it on an Onkyo receiver driving (forgot) speakers and a Phase Tech subwoofer. The cannons would literally cause the sub to dance a bit, but it played it pretty damn well. One of my suitemates was a transfer from Norwich University and said it reminded him of "home."

Wow, that's crazy Haj. North Andover is looking pretty good, though some side roads are pretty ugly here too. I don't think we'll get another day cancelled though.
-
The Z1ES won't do volume control, so unless you want to always adjust at the speaker side you'll need that. I'm using my Airmotiv 4's with a Benchmark DAC-2D (the version without analog in), it is a very nice pairing! I just go USB from laptop, or coax from disc player. Does your Dell not do USB out well? EDIT: in thinking more, do the cheaper Sony, it's $1K and still should sound pretty darn good.
-
A nice cheap possible option: http://uturnaudio.com/ This was a kickstarter turntable project, likely close to the cheaper Pro-Ject or Music Hall MMF series. Only downside is a 6 week wait.....

I'm in agreement with the "yeah, not really" opinion. Used to own the SA5K's as well, best I heard them driven was with a good DIY Dynahi. It DID take some of the leanness/edge off, but I still would say they weren't so close to the HD-800's.

Yup.... We'll be giving our local specialty store more business. Have to figure out Halloween though..... My wife spent a semester in England though, acquired quite the taste; and just knowing there won't be British Kit Kat's is setting her off like she has the DT's..... -
This is an "after" picture of the drift on our deck, my wife took it this afternoon. Andrew and I did some shoveling today, luckily fluffy shit because there was a lot (and we have a plow service too, but he can't get certain areas).

Shit like that just annoys the hell out of me. First time I ever signed an online petition..... We don't do a lot of candy anyway, but certainly won't buy Hershey's brand anymore if we can help it. http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/protest-hersheys-lawsuit?source=s.tw&r_by=12343362 And what does Hershey make: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_products_manufactured_by_The_Hershey_Company -
Maybe a little over a foot right now, still coming down steady here too. It's all about the drifts though.....
-
Congrat, Chris! And CJ, that's....crappy..... Us: just got notice office is closed tomorrow, and son's school is officially cancelled. Will work from home, but will have some fun too outside of shoveling.

Welcome home, Tom!
