  1. Bryan, I'm using it now as a preamp in my speaker system. Takes digital in from a Sony SACD (for 16/44) and a laptop, and analog in from my Sony HAP-Z1ES. Preamp out to Job 225 amp, and Gallo Strada 2/TR-1 speakers. Overall, can't complain at all; I think it was JP# that said this was stupid good for the $, and I agree. Maybe it's a pre-read review biasing me, though, but I like the headphone out a bit more than the preamp outs. Resolution is great, but it sounds a bit lean in the mids and can get a bit brittle on top. NOTHING at all bad, I never feel the need to turn it off; but not as good as some of the better I've had/heard; and I don't get that sense from the headphone out. Apples to oranges, of course.... That review I allude to mentioned that headphone out is a class A design, and the pre outs have opamps in the path. Could be the reason, or again may just be pre-bias. I have a 1/4" to L/R RCA adapter cable, I need to try that at some point to drive the amp, and compare to regular pre out. Just haven't bothered so far except for an early test using another power amp.
  2. Now I'm getting to listen....have to say only mildly impressed. I think she's a great talent and records well, but the EMOTION of the music is a little.....sterile.....to me. Maybe it's just because Billie Holiday did things SO well..... Certainly interesting, some good alternative adaptations.....but not sure I'd pull this out too often.....maybe I will need to listen more, we'll see. EDIT: as I listen more, I like it a bit more. Though still not as a comparison to the originals, but as a standalone piece of music. I read that the band has some of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds in it, it definitely shows. EDITED EDIT: Now listening to Riva Nyri Precil - Perle de Culture. A nice eclectic blend with strong Haitian and African influences. Love the voice, and music is fun and interesting!
  3. How is it Ric? I was going to listen today but got caught up in too many meetings.....
  4. That looks awesome! And I couldn't help but think of South park for some of it....the items on the top of the pic remind me of Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls

  11. Sadly, will miss this one (but good, because Karen and I will be on vacation celebrating our 20th!). Had great times at the last two Spring meets there.....

  13. Happy Birthday Doug! Wishing you sickness-free vacations, healthy cats, happy & cooperative students, all the solder-monkeys your heart desires, and moonshine - because it's the shit, dude - on your birthday. Enjoy!
  14. Happy Birthday!
  15. And yet, it's thought that Japanese and German (Stax, Sennheiser) have done just that. Audiophile manufacturers might not be as easy to classify as other manufacturers. Tweaking for better sound ( or marketing a new revision) is common....
  16. Trying some new stuff out: Decent: Errors - Lease Of Life (Indie-Alt) Better than Decent: Inni-K - The King Has Two Horse's Ears (Indie-Folk-Pop, MAYBE a bit hipster but fairly fun) Striking Matches - Nothing But The Silence (nice young country duet, crosses over to pop fairly well; didn't think I'd like but fun listen)
  17. Major Yummage! I assume spiders were optional?
  18. Holy fuck, that sucks Dusty, just ridiculous! I have to say, I've had pretty good luck with my credit card and Chase's Customer Service.
  19. Dan, everything you post, I add words....like that silly "in bed" game. But it's "in Hawaii" for you. And I'm jealous.

  21. I think many things taste better in Hawaii!
  22. Replaced the driver's side mirror on my car, was a victim of the winter and slippery road conditions. Inexpensive (cheaper plastic housing, but Nissan's wasn't much better) after-market via Amazon, $43 shipped. Everything works fine. Happy boy.
  23. Happy Birthday to the DOTU beard! Hope it's a great one!
