Good to hear, Grant, hopefully the "details" are all simple enough.
-
Thank you Senators and Rangers!

Even though they've bent the Bruins over recently, I don'thate the Caps. But still want the Isles to win.... #anyonebuthabsandpens

I may look at those ATH-MSR7's at some point......while I like the B&W P5-S2 enough sound-wise, and it isolates well enough, my aforementioned comfort issues keep me lightly spying other options. EDIT: dang, I should pull out my old re-cabled Senn 280's. Old enough that the clamping isn't bad, isolate like the dickens, and remember thinking the sound wasn't as bad (artificial highs) as some thought.

Happy Birthday!

That's the Capitals team that kicked butt on the Bruins all season. Some screw-ups (credit to Isles, too) but a good fast & physical game.
-
Agree with Jacob, I picked up a used P5-S2 for work. Only complaint is fit, the way they rub on my ears. It's good for a while but I do feel like I need to remove them for a spell. Sound is pretty decent, though I thought the Senn 600 was clearly better. Senn's just didn't isolate much at all.

Agreed, and Pittsburgh looked pretty good in the 2nd and 3rd; we'll see if Fleury skips his post-season meltdown. They may make this a series, but still hope the Rangers win out. Rooting for the Jets, too, Iain. Just like them as a team, like the fans I've seen online, and happy they are in the playoffs.

Yup....from Holland on down, they've reinvented themselves into a great organization! They used to be a lot like the Bruins, bad ownership and management that didn't seem to care about the sport. Both teams changed that, but the Hawks still do it among the best in the league. Bruins....not as good..... EDIT: woops, meant Bowman on down. Holland is Detroit, and their model is also one of the best IMO......

Chicago....wow. I didn't watch the game with Nashville, but saw some highlights. I kind of like Nashville as the "new kid on the block" and all, but damn is Chicago good, they just keep fighting. They may be in cap trouble next year with Kane and Toews making such huge $, but they really know how to build a team.....

Canadiens won....with MaxPac out and Subban ejected no less.....I wanted Ottawa to beat them, continuing their amazing run....oh, well, maybe next game.

I bought 3 times and sold twice. Both sales were years ago in the $500 range, just before prices jumped up. Now I have a pair that isn't going anywhere soon.....hard-wired with Stefan Audio Art cable with unterminated wire at the speaker end.

Holy crap, Shelly, your pest problems are just nasty! Hopefully an easy enough fix, but sorry you have to go through it.... Dusty: our cats are pretty mellow, one will sit there and let you touch his paws all day. The second Karen comes out with the clippers, ZING he's like a flash away. The other cat loves to be cuddled, held like a baby; but he is skittish otherwise. The place that gives the shaggy one his "lion cut" said to just hold them firmly by the scruff and cut, and that works for us. But it takes two....

Wow, that's a pretty wild guess for the finals.....I have actually been impressed with the Caps this season, Trotz has them playing well; this is Ovechkin's best year for +/-, yes? Anyway, I think it'll be a tough series with the Isles, but I think Holtby will play better than Halak and the Caps will pull it off. I can't see Detroit getting to the Conference Final for the East, though. And sorry, but I think Rangers take the Caps if they face them. Sucks that the Bruins are out this year, but they deserve the poor results they got. Need some medium size tweaks methinks, with a lot depending on how injured players come back next year. I think it'll allow me to enjoy the playoffs more as a result, too.

Apple Birthday, Jeffy!

Karen and I clipped our cats' nails tonight. Livin' the dream......

For anyone considering a Turntable purchase, a web-store called World Wide Stereo (wwstereo.com) is offering 25% off Thorens TT's through 4/19. Promo code THORENS25 Only dealt with them once, for a headphone purchase, but no issues at all.

Own them.....I'll PM you offline, have a bunch of stuff you may like. Old Prog, Ambient, "Berlin School," etc.

Yeah, the voice just made me think of Shirley singing Goldfinger! Last one for the day, Dusty you might like as well....Dyonisos - S/T

Next up: Kovacs - Shades Of Black. Initial listen, first I thought of was a cross between Amy Winehouse and Shirley Bassey!

Bryan, I'm using it now as a preamp in my speaker system. Takes digital in from a Sony SACD (for 16/44) and a laptop, and analog in from my Sony HAP-Z1ES. Preamp out to Job 225 amp, and Gallo Strada 2/TR-1 speakers. Overall, can't complain at all; I think it was JP# that said this was stupid good for the $, and I agree. Maybe it's a pre-read review biasing me, though, but I like the headphone out a bit more than the preamp outs. Resolution is great, but it sounds a bit lean in the mids and can get a bit brittle on top. NOTHING at all bad, I never feel the need to turn it off; but not as good as some of the better I've had/heard; and I don't get that sense from the headphone out. Apples to oranges, of course.... That review I allude to mentioned that headphone out is a class A design, and the pre outs have opamps in the path. Could be the reason, or again may just be pre-bias. I have a 1/4" to L/R RCA adapter cable, I need to try that at some point to drive the amp, and compare to regular pre out. Just haven't bothered so far except for an early test using another power amp.

Now I'm getting to listen....have to say only mildly impressed. I think she's a great talent and records well, but the EMOTION of the music is a little.....sterile.....to me. Maybe it's just because Billie Holiday did things SO well..... Certainly interesting, some good alternative adaptations.....but not sure I'd pull this out too often.....maybe I will need to listen more, we'll see. EDIT: as I listen more, I like it a bit more. Though still not as a comparison to the originals, but as a standalone piece of music. I read that the band has some of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds in it, it definitely shows. EDITED EDIT: Now listening to Riva Nyri Precil - Perle de Culture. A nice eclectic blend with strong Haitian and African influences. Love the voice, and music is fun and interesting!
