Wale - The Mixtape About Nothing I generally stay away from mixtapes, but this actually uses the format to its advantage to showcase every aspect of Wale's talent, instead being a promotional tool. The Seinfeld theme works great, especially on the album standout The Kramer, which addresses the use of a certain racial epithet with the eloquence most rappers wish they had. Though others have said it better than me, Wale sounds sort of like what Kanye would sound like if he could rap, Lupe would sound like if he was a little less serious, and Lil Wayne would sound like if he didn't totally suck. It's absolutely worth a the free dl. The Roots - Rising Down The Roots are pissed, and Rising Down furiously takes on societal injustices without being preachy or annoying. Black Thought gives a godly performance throughout, with the highlight being 75 Bars (even if it probably breaks the record for uses of the n-word in one song), and surprisingly all of the guest appearances work great--especially Mos Def on the title track. The band does a great job with a much darker sound than usual, but they never overdo it. After 8 albums, The Roots prove they still can't be stopped. Everything about this album kicks ass. I don't think anyone here needs to hear any more about how great this is either.

So I finally have space for my TT, and I have my Denon DL-103 all set up, but I have no phono pre! If there's a really really good option for $500 that kills everything under I'll go over budget, but otherwise I'd rather not. Any suggestions?

I liked it a lot. The first part short was really similar to an episode of the Batman cartoon, which I thought was cool.
-
Hellboy, and then 6 different shorts by different directors, all in anime-ish style, depicting Batman between Batman Begins and TDK. Pretty cool
-
It would certainly explain alot.
-
That is awesome. Thanks for the link!

Apple TV. Well my family bought it... but still, it rocks.
-
That Tom Waits and Hellboy look exactly the same?
-
But they're still living a lie!

What I was trying to show is that it's pretty much impossible to define jazz. (unless your last name is Marsalis)

A Linksys WRT600N router. And it actually works!

I've never burst out laughing at an audio component before.

This show is incredible.

Not Jazz: Jazz: Problem solved. You're welcome.

Why do you all feel the need to douche up a thread dedicated to one of the greatest musicians to ever live?

My wireless sucks! Help!

What router would you recommend then? It's tricky, since nobody really agrees on networking stuff and everyone hates a different brand. I've thought about the powerline stuff but it's just too inconvenient, especially with laptops. -
You're welcome.

I've been having this problem for years, and have gone through like 5 different routers and various wireless cards. I am constantly having dropouts with my wireless and have to constantly reconnect, and even when connected it can still be pretty slow. Right now I have a Trendnet something N router and an N card. It had been working pretty well until around a week ago, I have no idea why it would suddenly start being so terrible again. My computer a floor above the router and pretty far, but I have problems with the laptop one room away from the router as well. What the hell can I do, other than getting ethernet wired through the house (which would be really expensive in my house)?

I really was pulling for them, for KG and Pierce. Those guys really did deserve it! I've never seen any athlete as emotional as KG after they won, it was like watching a movie. Even the next day on Letterman, you could see he was still incredibly amped up.

Less than 2. I guess I should add that it was the ballsiest harp playing in general I've ever heard too.

In the old forum, threads would disappear from the new posts thing after you had read them, now they just stay there unbolded. Is there anything you can do about that? It made keeping up a lot easier sine I could just refresh the first page. Also, for the love of god please change the skin, this looks way too similar to Head-Fi and I'm afraid that it is bringing out the noobs!

Oliver Lake for free outside in Petoranello Gardens. The epicness cannot be overstated. It was about to thunderstorm so there were huge gusts of wind blowing leaves everywhere while their clothes swayed, with thunder and lightning behind them, all while his trio played some of the most amazing and out there music I've ever heard. It was like Dragonball Z with music, in real life. Even though it got cut short cause of rain and me and my friends ran on to help save their instruments and equipment, it was amazing. Also the guy who opened, Edmar Castaneda, played some of the ballsiest Colombian jazz harp I've ever heard.

That's a pretty depressing attitude...

Just about 8 fucking years too late. What will this accomplish exactly?
