Although I don't have my pair of SRH840, I thought I should say something about them. I was running them out of a Pico hooked up to my laptop. I felt that they were boring sounding to me. They were dark sounding without much sparkle. I didn't think the midrange was well articulate compared to my K500. The bass was a loose, but very tuneful with good impact. The sound was closed-in compared to open sounding headphones, but I didn't feel the sound was claustrophobic like I do with some IEMs. The SRH840 isolates enough to most ambient noise in a most situations, but not in loud ones like commuting. For closed headphones under 200, I think they're pretty good, but they weren't for me.

Not to mention the arbitrariness of the 1000 post rule and the possibility of some having legitimate reasons for selling the HF2. Of course, there will probably be flippers, but I don't see why those with legitimate reasons for selling should have to suffer just because the lack of integrity on part of others.

Enlighted Audio Design(EAD) DACs

I'm still trying to get traded to Team Too Many DACs, but Team No DACs isn't listening to my demands right now. -
She's good, but not low fierce Sagat, walk up and press fierce Cammy good, or CC you to death Bison good. I guess we may just differ on our tolerances on what makes a character "stupidly good". Personally though, I love games like Super Turbo, A2, and GGAC in which every character has stupid crap, but I think A2 Chun may have taken it half a step too far.

Yeah, ABA is awesome. High risk, high reward to max. Moroha mode is too sweet. She's certainly easier than Venom, who I was failing to learn before. The damn fruitloop has too many options and variations to learn. I-No on an execution level is almost masochistic. How anyone does those absurdly difficult combos is beyond me. Chun isn't that bad in SF4, but she does have a history of being pretty damn good in most games she's in. In CVS2 and SF2, she was good, but not stupidly so. However, A2 and 3S Chun . What the hell was Capcom thinking making her that good in those games? At the very least, everyone in A2 was retarded so that made Chun comparatively less stupid, but she's still ridiculously dumb. 60% life off a level one CC in that game is in addition to awesome normals, great pressure, the best fireball in the game besides Ryu, that damn overhead flip kick, a DP, and the stupidly small hitbox is too good.

I guess I'm into them. I haven't played too much lately ever since getting into headphones so my statement is a touch ambivalent. I'm probably getting back into them soon since Blazblue is coming out and my roommate is pretty serious about Blazblue and Guilty Gear. Chun isn't too bad in SF4. She can get annoying with the pressure, but she's not nearly as stupid as a certain giant Thai man with his ridiculous life bar, high damage off random hits, good normals, strong projectile game, god uppercut, cross-up, and the stupid safe on block if spaced correctly LK Tiger Knee. Truthfully, as good as he is, he's still less overpowered than some other top tier fighting game characters so it's really not so bad. Guilty Gear is pretty sweet. I'm actually trying to get back into it again since A.B.A. is so awesome. I need to really hit up training mode and watch match vids though since one of my roomates is a tourney player and one of my acquientances is a very good tourney player so unless I put in the hours I won't have any meaningful competition. There's also Blazblue coming out for console soon. I have to hit up training mode and start watching match vids again for that too. Still not decided on a character for that game. I'll probably be playing Rachel or V-13 since no character in that game makes me shit bricks in awe like Venom or A.B.A. does in GGAC.

This entire fiasco on part of ALO is despicable. How greedy do they have to be to sell a cable that may not even be up to USB specs for megabucks using audiophool bullshit and marketing hype when a perfectly good USB cable cost can be had for ten bucks? Not to mention the complete lack of integrity in deleting a thread in which someone dioplomatically called them out for their bullshit. -
Enlighted Audio Design(EAD) DACs

Yeah, I'll get around to that after winning two grand from a night at an Indian casino. Thanks, I was actually fine with going for the Pico. However, I backed out on the trade because my offer for a Parasound DAC1600 got through, but then some crap happened leaving me in an immediate position in which I can't afford a DAC outside of a Gamma-lite or an E-MU 0404 USB on ebay. Since I probably won't be needing those anything soon, the Pico's USB input is just fine and dandy for me. -

Because of my financial aid not coming in soon, I was in a really bad mood this morning. Then, I went to philosophy class and came out happy. Funny how that works. I'm really glad I switch majors.

Enlighted Audio Design(EAD) DACs

I have no fucking clue really. Can we past it off as a drug-induced decision even though I'm perfectly in a right state of mind right now? -
Jeff Buckley - Grace Been listening to the album again all week long. Even on crappy laptop speakers, the album still sounds amazing, but that's just because Jeff Buckley is such a damn good singer.

Yesterday, while I was browsing el Craigslist and a****gon I stumbled upon an EAD DSP-7000 mk.II DAC and was intrigued. So, I deciding to go doping panda, PI. From what little information I could gather, EAD had three lines of DACs: the DSP-1000, the DSP-7000, and the DSP-9000. The DSP-7000 was the original product while the DSP-1000 was an economy version of the 7k and the DSP-9000 seemed to be a more different than the other two. Each line has had several revisions with the DSP-1000 and the DSP-7000 both having three revisions while 9000 has an unknown number of revisions(to me at least). The first series had a CS8412-CP EP, 2x AD1862N-J, NPC SM5813APT, and some proprietary I/V converter called the AccuLinear. The later two series switched out the AD1862N-Js for Burr-Brown PCM63P-Ks and the last series switched out the SM5813 for the PMD100 and added PLL with a voltage-controlled crystal oscillator. I believe all of the DACs within a revision used nearly identical digital sections; so, all the "mark 1" dacs regardless of the line would have the same digital sections and so on. The main differences would be that the 7000 and 9000 have a much beefier power supply and possibly analogue sections and the 9000 have a lot more inputs, dual chassis design, remote control, and other goodies. All of the EAD gear supposedly has great build quality and is seriously heavy - the DSP-7000 mk.1 was like twenty one pounds. Also, it seems some EAD gear uses some contraption called the "digital flywheel" to reduce jitter or something, but I'm not sure if any of the DAC only units had them. From some old Audio Critic reviews, it seems that the EAD gear measures pretty damn well although I don't admit to completely understanding the numbers. Interestingly, the DSP-1000 measured nearly identically to its other brothers despite its inferior power supply. Of course, I'm not sure how any of these translates to sound. I don't believe the schematics of any of these DACs are readily available, but a company named Noble Electronics that does mods on EAD gear may have them. At any rate, it seems that these EAD DACs could possibly be some nice vintage gear. IIRC, the guy selling them on a****gon lives in Santa Monica so when I head back to my apartment in LA I'll try to hope on over to see if he still has it. Despite having little free money as a college student, I still have a bizarre urge to just buy the damn thing and do a shootout with the Pico DAC I should have coming in soon. It's my first post here on head-case and I'm sorry for it being so damn cumbersome - two years failing to be a pre-med student has degenerated any writing ability I previously possessed . Anyhow, I hope I enjoy my stay.
