Dinny ... I got a Yamaha YSP-1 4-5 years ago when it was the only game in town. Wanted it for a den for decent HT presentation, and it hasn't disappointed. It fit perfectly on the wall below a Panasonic 42" plasma. Sound is not even close to full on 5.1 or n.1 HT, but worlds better than the tv speakers. It has done what I wanted, and I am happy with it. Did a quick look, and it seems everyone makes them now, and they are pretty cheap. If I were buying now, think I would stick with Yammy or Denon, and it looks like $500-600 will get you something good.

Happy Birthday, Luis!

Would love to do this or the CCB release the following weekend.

I'm late for this party, but Happy Birthday, Alex!

Happy Birthday, Jacob. Enjoy the day.

I've owned them all, and for me the ranking is: HE90 > HD800 > HD650 > HD600 > HE60. Sometimes the 60 just shrieks with sibilance, so I could never relax when listening with it.

Happy Birthday, Ric!

Mine just arrived - good timing, Vincent, thanks. Awesome selections, and you are way too generous. I shall enjoy them immensely.

I'm sure with some voodoo chants, a few dead chickens, incense, and big bucks to the consumer that the cable cooker could be modded for usb cooking use. In the meantime, for your amusement, here is Tuberoller's 2004 review on HF.

Al ... I believe you and jp got almost kicked out of Mango's on SB, no? When I have time in Miami, I always go to Calle Ocho (Little Havana on 8th St) for Cuban cofee from sidewalk vendors and breakfast or lunch at any of the many local restaurants. In KW if they are walking around, the Hemingway house is cool, as is climbing the old lighthouse tower. At night, do what Mike suggested - Mallory Sq for the sunset craziness, then Duval St. For breakfast, gotta be PePe's on Caroline St.

Sweet meet, eh? About damn time I posted something, so here is some drivel of stuff I remember. First and foremost, thanks to meet meister Mike for pulling off another meisterpiece of a meet. Giant props to the travel team of Al (Voltron), JP (jp11801), and Justin, and new travel members Ari (Nikongod), Scott (Maanox2), Brent (Mexican Dragon), Colin (cetoole), Steve (ASR), and VPI (Jeff) for flying in. Of course the Florida regulars Vicki (Boomana), Matt (NightWoundsTime), Dom (highlife), Wayne (wmcmanus), Alex (Screaming Oranges), Carl (CarlSiebert), and Oz. Huge thanks to the Zu crew, Ron and his buddy, for driving all the way down from TN and Georgia with those gorgeous speakers and nice little diy tube monoiblocs. Others, of course attended, and added to the meet day fun, but the above were the hard core. Some pictures ... The gang starts arriving friday - (l to r) CarlSiebert, ASR's back, Nikongod profile, raffy, highlife, jp11801 Scott (maanox2), Alex (Screaming Oranges), and Colin (cetoole) On to Brother Tucker's for dinner. Scott & Colin. John & Al - this beer any good? Shut up and drink it, you'll like it. John, raffy, Dom, & Ari get some air Back to the hotel - why is it always Gene & Al's room? JP, Ari, & Carl Raffy & Brent Dom likes this beer Can't believe we drank the whole thing .... yeah, right. Then it was Saturday, and time for the meet. I have no gear or meet pics as good as or better than already posted, so here are more people pics. Listening to the lovely Zu speakers Ron and his bud from Zu, Scott, & Mike Scott, Mike, Steve, and John A delicious sushi lunch. Ari, Raffy, Steve Justin & John Ari, JP, Al and I shared this monster With a little help from our friends, we made it disappear - yummy! The after dinner at Padrino's cuban restaurant ... We like sangria Justin - we keeping you up? She's taking Al's order, but she's looking at me - oh, yeah I like fruit. The three kings - CanJam'09, HeadFest'07, CanJam'08

Nice little warmup for the weekend, Al. Glad you are keeping in training. Nothing stops #s when he's on a roll. See you derelicts in a few hours. All packed, and hitting the road in 30.
-
Ha! Speak for yourself, wimp. In your honor, we will all save the best for Sat night. Gotta celebrate that Gator SEC champeenship.
-
Yeah, getting to Brother Tucker's at 7:30-45 would be pushing it. I believe we are aiming to get there at 6, so will be just about out of there by 7:30-45 to head to Boca for the show - another 30-45 minutes up the road. Jeff, I'm pm'ing you a cell # so you can call and connect when you land for updates. Yes, I can drive - can take 5 in the car including me.
-
Since you asked so nicely, I'll throw in the Accuphase twins and K1000 in addition to the Woo rig with MBP/Duet. Will have HD800, HD650, and a few others. Back in the day that would have been quite impressive. Now? pffft, just headphones, amps, sources, and firearms.
-
Thank you all for the bday wishes. Enjoying a quiet day so far, but have some celebratory plans for the evening that includes a Patriots smack down of the Saints. Nate - got it, thanks! Mike, Al, Vicki, cj, Ari, and all - see you this weekend.
-
Bring on the Zu man and his speakers. We've all heard each other's rigs, and it would be fun to rock out to speakers. Are you set for power amp(s)? I could drag the A-20 over if needed.
-
A farewell tour, eh? Maybe we should make a little pedestal or altar for that rig to properly pay homage to it's last public appearance?

Vicki ... Canon and Panasonic have the best P&S cameras. Specific recommendations for your needs from those lines would be: - Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS42 (great value, compact size) - Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 (wider zoom range, image stabilization, but top of budget) - Canon SD780 IS - Canon SD1200 IS Overall, I like the Panasonics better. As others have said, if you have time, go to big box place and check for yourself. Hopefully they have stock in what you are interested in. If you want to wait, we can do some camera shopping at the 12/4 meet.
