Just off the phone with my girl, Sarah, at the Residence Inn, and the "custom web page" for us is still being worked on. I told her, "we don' need no steenkin' custom web page, jus' let us make our reservations." So she gave me some codes to use on their normal reservation page. We can also call 813 877-8988 at anytime for reservations if you identify yourself as part of the "Headcase" group. Still with me? Good. We have 3 codes to use, depending on whether you want to book a Studio Suite, One Bedroom Suite, or Two Bedroom Suite. I should mention that the Studios and One Bedroom suites are pretty much identical at 504 sq ft - difference is that the One Bedroom has a wall and door to close off sleeping room. and the Studio os open plan. The codes to use depend on the room type you want to reserve: - use "heaheaa" for Studio - use "heaheab" for One Bedroom - use "heaheac" for Two Bedroom Here's where you use the codes: Go to the hotel home page: https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/tpaws-residence-inn-tampa-westshore-airport/ Select your dates, and click the "+" beneath "Special Rates and Awards" Then click the "Group code" radio button, and enter the appropriate code ("heaheaa", "heaheab", or "heaheac") Then click the "Check Availability" button and you should see rates for your room with reference to "HEAD CASE GROUP"

@ Brent ... yes, it's a Marriott. What's the name of the Mexican place? @ Miguel ... terrific!

I'm sure Bose could whip something up in time for the meet. The two bedroom suites have the bedrooms separated by the living area, and each bedroom has a door to seal it off. Might be enough, even for Ken. For those in a pinch, that living area has a sleeper sofa, so a 3rd person easily accommodated.

Done, Grahame. Total Wine & Whole Foods mapped. Both are within walking distance of the hotel, and reside practically next to each other in the same shopping center.

... and cougers, lots of cougers.

Started a Google Map for points of interest around the meet hotel. See it here.

The deal is sealed with the Residence Inn Tampa Westshore/Airport There will be a web page for us to reserve rooms in a couple days. Will pass on link when available. In the meantime, phone reservations can be made. - Residence Inn Tampa Westshore/Airport 813 877-7988 - Group name is Head Case - 2 bedroom suite is $129 - 1 bedroom or studio suites are $94 - rates honored Thurs 12/9 through Sun 12/12, but extensions should be no problem. They have blocked 20 rooms for us, and more are available on as needed basis. I have reserved 4 two bedroom suites on the same floor already, and these will serve as meet rooms during the day. Get whatever style accommodations that suit you best - all are nice. Note that all bedrooms have just one bed (king or queen), so 2nd person in room would have convertible couch. PM or post any questions.

Grahame ... the bigger the capacity of your vehicle, the better (and, yes, I was inattentive to all your car talk posts - my bad). If you get a high cap vehicle, I'm sure many will be happy to chip in to defray the cost. I will have car that can comfortably accommodate 5, but I suspect there will be times when I shouldn't be at the wheel - Vicki to the rescue. We are lucky in that there are many places of interest within walking distance of the hotel, so long distance driving should be the exception. I suspect there may be a Banana's Records excursion, perhaps a foray to Ybor City, but beyond those, most should find plenty to do nearby.

Peter & Grahame ... if enough fly to MCO, you may want to consider a car rental. Glad you will make it.

Mike ... Stingray is pure win.

Ok, so I said the final details for room reservations would be in place today. Just passing on what I was told, but not to be. In the old days, I could walk into a place, say I knew Vinnie from Queens, tell the person what I needed, and, poof, done. Not today ... we got Vinnie's kids in charge, and it's send me an email this, tweet me that, or post on my FaceBook wall ... wtf? Bottom line, Vinnie's cute daughter, Sarah, who is taking care of me (not that way, jeez, you're all pigs), was out sick today, so nothing sealed, signed, and delivered. I talked with Vinnie himself, and all is cool, but he says, let the kid do the deal. So, this is what we got: - Hotel is Tampa Airport Hotel: Hotel in Tampa Florida near International and Westshore Mall - $129 for two bedroom suite. - $94 for one bedroom or studio suite ($5 less then original - Vinnie felt bad the kid was sick today) They will have online and/or phone registration for Head Case starting tomorrow. As soon as I have details, they will be posted in this thread.. Folks, this is going to be an awesome meet. If you can find a way to come, do so, so you can say you were at TamJam'10. Your children and grandchildren will thank you when they learn you were there.
