The Knuckledragger 3rd Memorial Slow Forum Post

If Dusty already posted this, sorry. If not, check it out Peter. A cool free app from Roli called Noise. Similar but simpler than Geo Shred (which is similar to the Linnstrument). It does cost to add a few more libraries but it's cool to mess with as is.

RIP Cato! That was a comedy routine I just couldn't get enough of!

Aren't too many thing worse than a bad torta! There's a Salvadorian place in San Jose that serves great stuff except for their Mexico City style tortas. Lots of fried baloney and that's the good part. Talk about disappointing!

Here's an article on HD life that's interesting. http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2016/05/one-billion-hours-on-and-hgst-still-rules-the-roost-for-hard-disk-reliability/?utm_source=howtogeek&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter This info has been confirmed by several archivists. What's funny is that the cheaper, but with much high failure rates, Seagates are often the choice since these archives are running 10 disk raid arrays so single failures aren't a concern.

Huge congrats Greg and Emily!

RIP Sam. It seems like all the Vietnam era newscasters are about gone. Those guys were all about trust and not entertainment. RIP Morley!

Missed talking about the carnage that was Sochi! Sometimes those wild and wooly races are just what the Dr. ordered. Speaking of,.. Barcelona was quite a race. I never thought that I'd be glad to see Helmut Marko smiling especially after he shuffled Kvyat off to the "B" team. But there it is! I'm sure there will be tons of press on Hamilton v Rosberg. Shades of Vettel v Webber IMHO. Still, I guess I've come to grips with the 'hybrids'. It seems like this is the year that they'll be smashing all the speed records (Kimi won't like that). And speaking of Kimi, it seems like this years Ferrari is more of his kind of car. Or maybe Seb has discovered girls or drugs or life outside of F1 (if Lewis can?). FIA is searching around for a way to make F1 more profitable/popular. I say, take the limits off of testing and let the designers design! Without it, F1 is just another racing series in exotic locations.

Ear Bud? Is that the movie about the dog that plays basketball? You probably want the Disney website. If you hold on, I'll find you a link.- 18 replies

Depending on what PC software you need to run, you might consider picking up a used Windows laptop and skip the virtual pc route. I have a Windows machine that gets booted just a couple of times a year. I don't upgrade the OS so I never have to update the software I'm running. I don't connect it to the web so it doesn't need updated security measures. If I do need to install something, I use a jump drive. So, if you can get away with it, I bet that someone around here might be willing to give you a great deal on last years HP or something.
