My latest tune.

Very cool! I don't spend enough time exploring my Seaboard Rise 49 but it never fails to inspire new ideas when I do. I'm a big fan of wavetable synthesis. I've been using Serum for about a year now. It's great for solving the issue of creating unique patches. I realize that the listening public could care less (or might even prefer) that a sound in your track might be identical to one that they've heard a hundred times before but we are supposed to be creating originals right? Anywho, I'm not sure how Deluge will sample wavetables but you can find a gazillion 1 sec .wav samples meant to be used by Serum online (google Serum Wavetables) or grab a cheap digital recorder and collect organic samples from the great big world. Either way, nothin' but fun IMHO!

Happy Birthday Mike! Happy you're happy!!!

I never was a big baseball fan but my dad was. He kinda had to drag me to that game and point out the significance of what I had seen.

You'd be hard pressed to find an interface that isn't amazing for the price these days. I've used MOTU and Focusrite Red gear and they're both great. The differences will be in the features but that could make a big difference for your applications. IMHO, it's worth asking a sales guy at Sweetwater their thoughts on what you're planning to do. Matching the built in mic preamp with the mics you're likely to use (there may be deals on mic/interface combos too). You should mention which keyboard you plan to use. Ask about EDU discounts!!!! Eligibility differs from company to company but a sales guy will be able to steer you. When I was taking classes in Calif., it was worth it to pay for one online course for the EDU discounts I got on software/hardware. IIRC, one year I saved over $2k and I also got a tax break at the end of the year!

RIP Hank Lucky enough to have sat in a nosebleed seat as he hit one of his record HRs.

Ice Cold Murders (sorry, couldn't find a clip). Great Italian detective series that's free with Prime till Feb 1. There are 2 -12 episode series and I haven't watched anything else since I stumbled across this (almost done with season 1). I'm a big fan of "who done its" so take that into account. I believe there are more seasons and I guess they are waiting for them to appear on Starz (Amazon says Masterpiece). Anywho, I love-love-love this one so give it a try while it's free.

A very Mac slanted YouTube channel, but I'm interested in the subject discussed. -
I'd be interested to follow the rebuild if you're willing to post it Marc. My VPI Aires motor has always had a slight hum (I think mine is the first gen Aires) and I've damped the hum enough so I can't hear it through my system. I uses a piece of "anti vibration padding" from Shop Fox ( I bought it from Grizzly eons ago) under the motor. I doubt if I'd be willing to mod my motor at this point but I'd be happy to see what you've come up with.

I'm a couple of weeks into a month-ish sub for Disney+ (just the Disney $7 part). I wasn't exactly crazy about the first couple of episodes of Mandalorian but by the end of the 2-8 episode seasons, I was sold! Very true to the Star Wars world and lots of great guest actors and fx. The episodes are uneven so there are a few that I wasn't that crazy about but there were 4 directors so I wasn't that surprised. There were a few that really made me sit back and grin. If you're a Star Wars diehard like me, The Clone Wars cgi series is great for back stories. They can be very uneven too but as the series goes along (there are 123, 30 minute episodes) the animation gets to a very high standard for a commercial show (if you can excuse the "will cgi ever make hair not look like a helmet" problem). Anywho, I've always appreciated your music recommendations so I thought I'd give you my 2 cents on Disney+.

Here's a video Hainbach made comparing tracks he made tracked to 1/4" tape and digital.

Happy Birthday Knucks!

This guy has the same era/model Aries that I have. From this picture at least, he's done the same thing I have and discarded the extra pulley weight/flywheel on the motor and the record weight/clamp. I find the sound is more open and lively without a clamp. It's possible that the frequency graphs are a little flatter (fewer high mid spikes?) but my main speaker system is for pure pleasure and accuracy be damned. Plus, my Home Studio rig is the one that needs to be flat.

Haven't spun that one in ages!

Both shows have a special place in my heart! I watched the Addams in first run with my family but The Munsters were considered too silly to be a family institution I'm guessing. I rewatched every episode at least once during a phase when my buddies and I would waste away the afternoon smoking pot and avoiding anything that remotely resembled responsibility! Gilligan and Hogan's Heros were up there too.

Happy 2021 everyone!

I'm sure you'd be happier with the keys of the S88 (I bought an S61 a few month back and sold my Keylab). If you're looking for a replacement for a real piano, you may want to check out many of the other choices. I'm not a real piano player so my opinion don't mean squat! Here's a pretty decent thread from the composers forum I hang out on. There are many, far more qualified posters there. https://vi-control.net/community/threads/which-88-key-master-keyboard-stagekeys-or-what-fits.99381/ This is just one of many 88 key "what's the best" threads at vi control. Of course, trying one out is the best and alternatively, buy from a source with good returns (it took me 3 tries before I settled on my S61). IMHO, I wouldn't be concerned about any libraries. Get the keyboard/keybed you like and spend some time listening to library/modeling demos online.

Thanks for sharing this Ric. Didn't know Jones but I have several acquaintances who retreated into the Santa Cruz mountains for assorted reasons. I'm sure some of them have been flushed out by this years fires.

Novation makes some solid stuff from my experience. I've owned a couple of keyboards and they are roadworthy (I see Impulses in concert footage often). If it wasn't for an issue with some Kontakt instruments, I'd still be using my Impulse (8 years or so?).

Thought it was pretty good too! Lots of interesting details from the bombing/DEA standpoint (I couldn't help but think about that after the news from Nashville). Oh yeah,.. Judith Light! I couldn't place her but now that you do,.. duh!

Don't know how much that cost to produce,.. But it was worth it!!!! -
Looks like you have enough pre-made choices Steve. But if any of you guys need mic cables, I have a bunch of Mogami 2549 (non-terminated) plus Switchcraft xlr's (male and female) that I don't need. Just PM me for freebees.
