RIP HH! His tv shows were some of my early exposures to Be Bop. And those xmas issues with the fancy audio systems,.. now that I think about it, maybe he was a major influence in my life? Off to buy a silk robe and Canadian pipe! Sorry to hear about Ashbery too. Thanks for the notice Stretch.

I've been sleeping on a new hybrid mattress from Sealy called the Gilded Breath. I'm not much of a bed/mattress critic but I am a side sleeper. This is a mid priced mattress with a pillow top and multi layers of foam on a conventional spring base. IIRC I paid about $770 on sale. Like I said, I'm not very critical of what I'm sleeping on but so far so good (about a month).

Harry Dean Stanton has been one of my favorite character actors. I can remember him in all the tv westerns like Gunsmoke and The Rifleman. Paris Texas was a big one and when he sang Borderline with Ry Cooder I found a new dimension to him. RIP

If you had to wear a uniform, cough up the pictures!

Happy Belated Birthday Stretch! Hope you enjoyed the heck out of it.

Goes to show how much I know about geography! Thanks. Glad to know anyways.

Anybody heard from Wayne?

Mine's a CAT Ultimate and I've had it for a decade or so. All those film caps are wound in house at CAT. So as the preamp has evolved so have the caps. Not only that, but the caps are made to be the value demanded by the design, not the ones that are as close as a supplier is willing to make them. It's my favorite phono stage. On the "high resolution" end of the spectrum with awesome bass.

Thanks from me as well Al! It would be great to hear from all those characters after the storms pass. I miss those kooks!

Yes The processor is 3.3G so there isn't a lot more speed to be gained. For serious performance gains, spreading the load to a second computer is the way to go for the work I do. So far, I haven't hit that wall yet. When I do, I'll put together a Windows machine for a server (way cheaper). I'd pay a pretty penny for Thunderbolt though.

Since it looks like upgrading my "cheese grater" MacPro is going to be a couple of years down the road, I did my best to optimize my old (2012) 6 core buddy. Maxed out the Ram to 48Gigs Only one spinning disk left Sammy Evo Pro 240G system drive, Evo Pro 500G audio drive (recording/mixing/mastering), Evo 850 2T Sample Library, 2T Toshiba HDD main storage PCI usb3 card (been in there for a while) x4 usb3 EV3A sc GTX1070 Nvidia graphics card for 4-5k multi monitor, VR ready And I picked up the latest 12.7 iPad Pro and a pencil to use as a touch monitor (so far with Duet, Lemur, Pro Tools/Eucon and manipulating with the pencil, it's awesome!)

Just bought my first gas grill after years of Webber kettles.

It's been a while since we've heard from many the Fl gang! Hope things go well for them!

While I was fooling around with seating/speaker placement today, I ran across this gem. Watch this before reading the text on Youtube. I think you'll be surprised about the players here.

If you guys didn't see it, Hemi Sam posted in the "Watches" thread and he and his family seem to be okay.

Yup Bought that one new! It's the best I've found for lease breaking volume levels and hearing those transients snap (digital has nothing on that lp). Great music too (love those Cowboy Songs).

Beautiful work Craig! Nothing exceeds like extremes (or something like that).

Gorgeous! Your vintage turntables amazing and your setup is something to behold. Congrats! Me, I'm finally getting my table and speaker system put back together after my move. A little Allison Krauss to test the cartridge. Also, another messy temp studio setup (l have big plans for the new one so it'll be months in the making I'm guessing).

Great to hear you're looking forward Steve! Keep us in the loop when you find time to post. We still need to hear from Hemi Sam. I know he has a family so I'm hoping he's busy taking care of them.

Ken's right. Sam is also in Houston. I'm sure we'll hear from him how his family is. Good to hear an update on Shelly and Steve!

Anyone bought the Oppo UDP-205. Considering one. I like the idea of a better build quality from the cheaper models.

Miss you man!

Yup, Pretty freakin' awesome up here in Oregon! Just a tiny sliver left here in Eugene and it got pretty dark. Took an hour off from my unpacking duties as everyone in the state stopped and gathered their attention to the heavens. We were one!

Great album Steve. This is one of my faves;

George Blood is one of the masters in the craft of archiving audio and film. The guy has "been there and done that" from the early days of recording and has forgotten more than just about anybody else living knows about the development of the recording arts. Pretty cranky and ornery from what I can tell!
