  1. At that price, I'm pretty sure most folks would just max out the Ram anyway (64G). The whole thing isn't that much more than a 27" maxed out 5K iMac so it doesn't seem that far out of line to me. Personally, I'm with Mike and I'll wait to see what the come up with in 2018/19. If it isn't great, I could see a Hackintosh in my future (anyway, I've kinda got the 34 inch curved screen bug now Adam!)
  2. RIP Ed Lee. Shocked to hear it this morning.
  3. Just finished binging the German Netflix series "The DarK". It is fantastic. The filming is just awesome. Now that I'm done with the first season, I want to watch it again just to check out some of the scenes. The soundtrack from Ben Frost is pretty good although it's a little bit Johann Johannsson sound-a-like. One of the best Netflix sci fi.

    The Americans

IMHO it gets better. One of the best long running series.
  5. Ha,.. I guess that makes a tad more sense! (I actually linked the wrong info anyway https://www.npr.org/2017/12/07/569183423/florida-set-to-launch-countrys-first-private-high-speed-train-service Sounds like a great job!
  6. That's fantastic news Jacob! I was just listening to a story on the Miami high speed rail this morning and thinking how forward thinking that was. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_High_Speed_Corridor
  7. It's been a while but this sent me on another Puddles Youtube bing. Great one!
  8. Poor Suzy! Well, even though Dad can't speak dog, it sounds like Suzy knows how to get his attention. Seriously though, it sounds like something that happened so gradually neither one of you could have realized how serious it had gotten. I'm sure it'll be like a new lease on life once she recovers from surgery. Best thoughts coming her way!
  9. You guys let me know when you decide if this is an issue. I've got work to do.
  10. This album's back in the news. Although I think that Shkreli has been Trumped as the most hated man in America (really, not even in the running anymore) it is nice to think that folks might have the chance to bid on his priced possessions (I'd go for the Enigma Machine myself). http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/01/news/shkreli-wu-tang/index.html
  11. You guys know what a cheap skate I am so it should be no surprise when I rave about a significant "deal" from Apple on something I really want. Apple's always had some piddly ass discounts for students, employees and some pro users (my AES membership gets me the employee discount). To make a long story shortish, they have a student "package" deal that's kind of awesome. It's called the "Pro Apps Bundle for Education" and it includes Mainstage, Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, and their Compressor. All for $200! Normally that's the price for either Final Cut or Logic so we're talking about more than %50 off if you want those two. Back when I was studying Post Production I made the decision to buy Avid's Media Composer but I later wished I'd gone with Final Cut Pro. Don't get me wrong, MC is much more powerful than Final Cut but I feel like I have to take a refresher course everytime I want to import some clips into it. Final Cut is much more intuitive for a die hard Mac guy like me. As far as Logic goes, I still love Pro Tools, Ableton, and Reaper but they just aren't as quick and deep as Logic or Cubase are for orchestral or large hybrid compositions. So, for me, it's a no brainer. I was going to buy Logic Pro X anyway and now I get Final Cut for the same price. https://www.apple.com/us-hed/shop/product/BMGE2/pro-apps-bundle-for-education
  12. Happy Birthday Gene!
  13. Huge congrats Chris! Screw that Toyota! I bet he doesn't have a wife as understanding as yours! Wear that hoodie in good health!
  14. OSx upgrades have seemed pretty "loose" since Mavericks. I don't think it's a good idea to upgrade as soon as the "latest" is available. I've always been a version or 2 behind. And I aways check mission critical software forums to be sure the waters are safe before I invest the time to do a clean install.
  15. Hi Lloyd! I'll check out those series on Netflix. Once I finish the last season of Longmire (you might dig this series Tice) I'll be searching for the next thang. I've been a fan of Longmire since it started on cable tv. I know it's not exactly the best of anything, but the main characters are just likeable I guess.
  16. Happy Birthday Bryan! Cheers!
  17. Live Stream
  18. I grew up in rural Georgia where land was cheap and plentiful. At that time all I could see was hours on a riding mower! Now, I can't help but envy Nate and family as well. BTW, looks like a solid job there!
  19. First holiday meal made in the new pad. Mmm good!

Wow! 200G micro. And it seemed like just yesterday that 16G was 50 bucks. With numbers like that, folks are going to start wondering why a gigantic device like a smart phone doesn't have 200G in the base model?
  21. RIP Della and Arnie! I almost bought a pair of used RS-2a's a while back and the Servo Static was an early eye opener for me. Those were kind of the "Cowboy Days" of audio IMHO.
  22. You guys look great! I think the blur might have helped! A huge congrats you crazy kids!
  23. Looks like a great concert! And your kids look like they are very proud of their "old man". Happy Holidays!
  24. Happy Birthday Dinny I hope your family treated you like the Monkey King your are!
  25. Man,.. Bath in the sonics of this place!
