Great article, Thanks! I know a few media composers who've taken the iMacPro plunge but for the most part, they're very well heeled. So far, they're pretty impressed with stuff like rendering speeds and large template launch, but when it comes to reading big ass sessions (with ridiculous amounts of plug-in loads like reverb) the old dust bins aren't that far behind. So, the direction that the iMac Pro has taken isn't a huge "real world" improvement for music and I'm hoping that Apple and their new modular Mac Pro will take that into account. It's great to hear that real life media composers are on staff now and that might explain the tremendous "real world" improvements that came crammed into the latest update of Logic Pro X. It may have put Logic at the top of the heap for that kind of work. BTW That was a "free" update!!!!

I bought the 205 and I've been happy with it. Their announcement was pretty surprising to me but I thought that maybe the audiophile community/echo chamber was making Oppo seem like a much more important brand than it really was. I've been following a discussion on one of the mailing lists I subscribe to and one of the guys who writes for HiFi News was saying that "the guy on the street" in the UK (and he included folks who work at places like Best Buy) have probably never even heard of Oppo. Still, I'm sad to see that a company who was producing "high value" audio gear couldn't make a go of it.

Very cool Doug! You guys are doing nice work. Me, just happy when I count my fingers!

Holy Shit! I guess the other teams can spend the off season figuring out a way to stop her.

yup,.. That's my favorite Chaconne! Have it on the Odyssey vinyl (mono).

Happy Birthday Doug! I hope you get something a little more personal than a new saw blade! Enjoy the day!

Looks fantastic Adam! Moving to a new place is one of those Exciting/Exhausting things. Congrats (but don't forget to take a break sometimes)!

Yup, Saw all the other complaints and ESPN's apology. I'm with you Mike. We'll see how they do but after watching the online picture quality,.. Wow! Did my heart good to see McLaren make a good showing (and just having both cars finish!). Bummer about Haas though.

Excellent first race! And I love the Sky online videos on ESPN3 of all the practice sessions. The online picture fidelity is awesome! Now for the bad news. I'm not sure if it's a local problem (Eugene Oregon on Comcast) but man, talk about amateur hour! When I tuned into the pre-race (On the Grid), the scene shown was a live feed of a section of track. That's it! The only audio was a distant sound. They showed that for a minute or so, the cut to commercial. That happened a couple of times then a taped show of The 30 Best or something like that started and ran for about 10 minutes. Finally, it cut to the pre-race but without audio. Once the audio started, things were okay until the race actually started. Once the race was underway and it was time for a commercial, they same split screen that NBCSC had which is cool. What that masked was that the timing of the commercials. When they stopped doing the split screen the breaks came at random moments mid sentence most of the time. Then when the show ended, it just cut to a different program. No "Goodbye and see you at the next race" not "run credits" just bam. Next show. Well, hopefully they sort that out but I would have thought that gaining a prestige program like F1 would have brought out the big guns but I guess I was wrong. It looked like intern city! Oh well, I do love what Sky is doing so I hope it doesn't take too long for ESPN to get on the same page. End of rant!

Maybe I haven't kept up with current events but it looks like South by has turned into a mini Cannes. https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/03/sxsw-film-festival-2018-gallery-isle-of-dogs-ready-player-one-star-wars-westworld-a-quiet-place/

Here's hoping 2018 is better (I missed most of the 2017 games). It certainly is starting with a bang with Virginia loosing to UMBC! I had no plans to watch the game so when I got out of the shower I glanced at the CNN homepage to see if that asshole fired a cabinet member in the last hour and wow! Va didn't just loose. They got their asses kicked.

Man! That looks yummie!

It's that time of the year again. One of these days I plan to attend but I'm happy enough to get my yearly wake up call of what's happening in the music world outside of my own melon. Here's a link to NPR's Austin 100. I usually use it to jot down artists I want to try and find streams of and hopefully shamelessly copy! https://www.npr.org/2018/03/01/585356494/the-austin-100-a-2018-sxsw-mixtape

Holy smokes! What village is that meal for?

Happy Birthday Fitz! Hope it was a wonderous day.

RIP the three workers in the Yountville VA. It's very sad to see folks who do their best to help PTSD victims taken down by the ones they are trying to help. Having worked at the Menlo Park VA in their "mental health" unit, it's easy to forget that these guys are well trained and more dangerous than the average guy flipping out.

Been on a Danial Lanois binge lately. This is the video that got me started; This one is a movie about what he's about about.

I'm totally diggin' the new TNT show "The Alienist". It hits all the complicated characters buttons. The sets are amazing and right up there with big budget movies like the Robert Downy Jr Holmes series. Great "Nerds in Victorian New York" fair.

Happy Birthday Bonnie!

Love the wall art (TDK?) Knucks. Classic set up (275 hiding on the bottom?). I bet it sounds like music.
