Got back from the Monterey Jazz Festival. Tons of great music as usual but one of the standouts was a young blues rocker that put on an awesome show. Here's a taste of what this 20 year old's show is all about.

RIP Ginger. Cream was the first concert I ever attended (thanks mom!). And over the years, I always kept an eye on what he was up to. What a talent!!!

Thanks for the recommendation! I listened to the Audible version during a long road trip and I couldn't stop until it was done. It helped a tad to know all the streets and places mentioned and the extreme ambitions that run the valley.

Happy Birthday Santa-Bro. Hope you had a great one!

Thanks guys! I’m at the Monterey Jazz Festival so things couldn’t be better.

RIP Robert Hunter.

MH had said that the sonics would be improved on all upgrades but the older the unit, the more significant. In any case, the Console 5 software is 32 bit so anyone wanting to upgrade to Catalina will have to upgrade to 3D (at least for now). BTW, I haven't tried it yet but I heard that the 3D Record Panel will track stereo? I've been waiting for the General release before I dive into the new mixer/routing.
-
Yup. Installed the 3D in the Amarra/LIO-8 I bought from Al a while back and I'm loving it. So far the public beta software (pb8) still has some glitches but if you don't need the mixer/ console, you shouldn't have any issues. Aside from the bugs left, they just need to finish the Windows version and the software will come out as a general release. Sure is nice to be able to run down to Staples and pick up a cat6 cable (up to 200ft I believe) instead of fiddling with firewire!

Like the pitched roof. Makes it look like something you could pick up at your local Shack Shop.

Happy Birthday Stretch!

A very sad day for journalism in America indeed! RIP Cokie! I'll miss your insight and kind voice.

Thanks for the tutorial Antonio. I'll give it a try. What I've heard to describe a sauce that has separated is "broken" as in " the sauce has broken" ?

Happy Birthday!

That's a fantastic article from Wm. McDonald! RIP Robert Frank

That is so-so very cool! Will they be broadcasting the recording?

Monza!!! Couldn't sit down for the last 30 minutes! Lots of Alonzo sightings (whatever that means?).

Those F***ing tile thugs! It sounds like it's worth doing a teardown to see what can be saved (or just for fun). ifixit is the first place I go for mac related repairs. https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac

Totally agree Dusty! There are a lot of big budget movies that could learn a thing or two from this show. The only weakness I've seen so far is there's only one season!
-
Yup! Despite having jumped ship to the hybrid/full electric side of things,.. Totally jelly!

Condolences Knucks! I hate plumbing. Sometimes I think it would be better to carry water up to my house in jugs on my head and shit in the yard. (Other times not so much.)

The 3D upgrade for a ULN-2 is $500. A little more if your box is a Legacy (non-2D). In the big picture, the upgrade includes 64 bit architecture (making it compatible with osx Catalina). The new circuit board includes new clocking and for the ULN-2 and 2882, the sound upgrades them closer to the ULN-8/LIO-8. I've upgraded the LIO-8/Amarra I bought from Voltron and there was a slight upgrade in sound. Word has it that the ULN-2 sound is quite significant (YMMV). For pro audio the upgrades are way too numerous to list but it starts with Windows compliance. Future proofing include a replaceable "edge card" that allows tons of current and future connection schemes. The upgrade is still a public beta but the last software beta is almost there IMHO. https://mhsecure.com/3dEarlyAccess/
