  1. This video has some one of the best sounding live mixes evah!
  2. Hey guys. I just stumbled across this thread and even though it seems to be more hardware oriented so far, I'll try and contribute. Regarding Euro Rack, the way I learned is fooling around with VCV Rack. It's a virtual euro rack system that's almost free. That is, there are modules that aren't free but there's no reason you couldn't learn everything on the free modules. There are tons of YouTube videos on learning and using it but here's an overview.
  3. Very cool Greg! Unfortunately, interns will probably only get to dust the SSL's but he should learn to make a mean espresso pretty quickly!
  4. Happy Birthday Chris!
  5. Happy Birthday buddy! 52? just a pup! Hope your new digs are treating you right on your first b-day there.
  6. These "Playing for Change" videos are amazing! Saw Larkin Poe this year at Monterey. Worth a ticket if they come to your town.
  7. Wow! That is a tough act to follow. Happy Birthday old guy.
  8. If you don't mind "dancing about architecture",.. ARSC Awards http://www.arsc-audio.org/awards/awards2019.html The Zappa books looks cool.
  9. Happy Birthday Peter! Have a great one!
  10. Great article Ric! I couldn't help but recall reading about the quaint, early days of Kevin Mitnick and Kevin Poulsen as I read this and how things have evolved.
  11. RIP Rep Cummings! His strength, and courage will be missed in these times when these virtues seem in such short supply.
  12. Happy Birthday Iain!
  13. Happy Birthday Peter!
  14. Happy Birthday Carl!
  15. Happy Birthday Vicki Missing your presence too!
  16. This one's for Dusty.
  17. I'm curious to get your impressions of Sidecar. IIRC, you were using Duet to use your iPad for a second screen. I'd be interested in how Apple have implemented this.
  18. I read about those temp swings you guys had. Yikes!
  19. RIP Robert Forester. One of many actors that had great roles during the WWll movies from my youth. I'm thankful that some of them like Forester, had a revival in recent years. Perhaps Mr. Blessing or others, have some insight on what spurred casting directors to tap this vein (I'm thinking it wasn't just about directors like Tarantino or Lynch/Frost looking for 70's authenticity?).
  20. In all the years I've used OSX ( since Tiger) I've never had an issue with the OS (although I realize that there have been bugs just like any other software that complex). It's the developers of the other software that I use that is the problem. There are the usual suspects (cough, Pro Tools/Avid, cough) that hold up the show. It's a minor gripe for me but I feel for the big studios that have invested $50k+ for the pleasure of using the Avid ecosystem. They really must hate it. But like I said, for me, what's the difference if I upgrade to the latest this October or next September? I just have to remember to make an installer before it's replaced in the App Store.
  21. I'm usually a year behind on OSX and that seems like enough time for "foot draggin' -cheap ass- head in the sand" developers to get with the program and update their software (if they are still in business that is). Otherwise, there's a couple of shells that can bridge some out of date plugins. In the mean time, be sure and create an installer before it's updated. Lately, you couldn't "jump" over a named update so you had to search for an old installer online. Those can be great places to pick up malware.
  22. If you're using any kind of a Mac for your tv, you should try installing the Apple TV Aerial screensaver app. The footage is awesome and the best thing about my Apple TV IMHO. Hopefully the app will update. I just got an underwater one and the sea lions swimming around is super cool! https://9to5mac.com/2018/10/29/apple-tv-screensavers-to-mac/
  23. Scary season is upon us! Stay safe Greg.
  24. Just a gentle reminder,.. OSX Catalina has been released today and it is 64 bit only. If you are using any older software which has not been updated to 64 bit, it will no longer run (correctly? at all?) in Catalina. For example, Pro Tools has not been updated and even though Reaper is 64 bit, the plug in it uses to convert flac files is not (or at least the last time I checked it wasn't). In an earlier post I linked a free app that will check your system for compliance so if you haven't checked, that's a painless way to check. Myself, I have several mission critical apps that won't.
  25. After that Hollywood Squares "stab from the past", I couldn't help but do some searching. Just looking at the pictures of those kooks can't help but warm my heart. https://www.metv.com/lists/the-14-best-celebrities-to-pick-on-hollywood-squares-in-the-1970s
