RIP Mae Very sad Al and extended family.

What a sad state the red cars are in! It happens to the best of them though (Williams). I can't help wondering if the local police will be able (or try) to keep the tifosi from lining the fences and filling the trees like they usually do? Just have to wait and see?

Love the tongue (very R.Crumb)! Not sure how you'd feel about buying something pre-made but you might contact Hoyt and see if you can get just the the dial face or even something custom? https://www.hoytmeter.com/analog-panel-meters.html

Nice mic! Pretty delicate though. The one they had in my schools locker spent half the time in the shop (butterfinger students). What? No Bit-O-Honey? You need to have a serious talk with your Sweetwater Sales Associate!

I used to hang out in Los Gatos a lot so I have many friends in the Santa Cruz Mountain areas. I've tried to contact a couple but most have either been evacuated or trying to keep their lines open for emergency contacts. Scary times down there and I have my fingers crossed that they have homes to return to.

Press seems to regard the sale as a plus for Williams but I'll wait and see. Russell deserves a real ride and given the shuffling this year, I like his chances.

Happy Birthday Matt! Miss you buddy

The pads are smaller than standard Akai type pads. They're 25 x 20 mm. One feature that I like with pad and the keyboard is the velocity curve can be quickly changed between 3 settings. The most compressed setting decreases the difference between high a low velocities. The sensitivity changes quite a bit with the different setting too (the volume is about 2x higher between the lowest to highest setting with identical ergs). Overall, I'd consider the pad to be better than average. I'd love to try a Handsonic. I'm sure there's no comparison to the expression you could produce with something like that. Pretty pricy though.

Your KeyLab 2 should come with the full Analog Labs. There's a software package that you can download when you register the Keylab.

I studied classical guitar in a Segovia influenced studio for 7 years (many of the instructors had attended his master classes in Madrid). We all had great respect for Bream and I always aspired to have a pinch of his wonderful tone. I never got to see him in concert but I listened to The Art Of Julian Bream (and the wonderful Hauser guitar he played on it) constantly. RIP

Ableton is different from most other DAW's other than Bitwig. The latest version of Logic added some Ableton-ish features that makes performance with a Session View sort of a GUI available. They don't call Ableton , "Live" for nothing. I think it's the DAW most easily integrated into a Euro Rack/modular system. Sampler/Simpler and the new Wavetable synths are awesome. That and Max for Live are the the main selling points for me. Unfortunately (or maybe not) this stuff is kinda rocket science. It takes patience, time, and lots of drive (10% inspiration and 90%...). Dusty, tried a few CS-80 patches with aftertouch and it's surprisingly good. Maybe not in the same league as my Roli Rise 49 MPE controller but I think I'll spend some time in that rabbit hole after I finish the music I'm working on right now. The included Analog Lab are a pretty long list of presets but it's not the full modeled CS-80 that you can create your own patches. Still, it's pretty cool!

Finally got my Keylab 61 Mk2 today! So far I've only done some exercises (scales) and so far so good. The keybed is quiet and very well made (my main concern). The action is synthy and the keys don't go as deeply as on a real piano and the black keys are a tiny bit narrower than on my old Novation Impulse. I'm sure it won't take very long before I don't notice the difference at all. I don't think you could ask for better build quality and it has a nice modern look to the printing and finish. I'm still downloading the software but I don't expect to be using it except to demo a few instruments (like the cs 80!!) for the future. I'm pretty happy with the instruments I have right now and I'm trying to concentrate on making music with what I have. Feel free to ask any questions.

You lost me at PC. I have Pyramix installed on a PC but I haven't fired up that puppy in at least 4 years. Most DAWs have great demo policies so you can try most of them for at least a month before committing. Reaper has a super long trial (90 days IIRC). I've used it on and off for stuff like sound design but I've never found it intuitive. But that's just me. Maybe try your Stealths on stands in Mid Field (farther away)?

The Knuckledragger 3rd Memorial Slow Forum Post

I've got a Cream booklet that I got at their concert with lots of cool pictures in it but that one is not among the promotional photos in it! Kinda looks like an advert for personal drug choices? -
Audition is excellent. If you're already subscribed to the Adobe CC there's probably no reason to learn something new until you have to. You might consider getting iZotope Rx if you want to clean up field recordings. I did like the Footprint 01 when I heard them. They put out a lot of sound for their size. You should give Vintage King a call and see if you can demo a pair.

The free version of Pro Tools won't import video so the standard version is probably what you'd want. If you plan to do any post production audio work than that is the DAW for you. It's been the standard for post production so there are features meant for dialog, sound effects and foley. Most ADR (automated dialog replacement) is done in Pro Tools. I use a pair of the MM45 Barefoots. I auditioned all their sub $10k monitors at their factory in Portland before I bought mine. That was before they came out with the 02 Footprints so I've only heard the 01 Footprints. The 01 Footprints go lower than my 45's but I like mine for mixing strings and orchestras stuff better. What are you using currently?

I use Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, Ableton and Reaper. These days, almost exclusively Logic. Another excellent DAW is Studio One and of course Cubase/Nuendo. Each one has it's strengths but these days, there aren't many glaring weaknesses in any of these. If you plan to do very much with video, Pro Tools is probably the best. Particularly if you need to collaborate and communicate with other audio and video professionals. Be warned, it is endlessly deep. I took 6 quarters of college classes on Pro Tools (it took 4 to qualify to take the Pro Tools Operator license test, there are 3 other licenses that you can get). But, you can learn what you need day to day in the same amount of time as any DAW. Whatever you choose, stick with it. You want to learn your choice well enough that it becomes muscle memory. Having to stop and search for the right key command is a momentum/inspiration killer.

I'm a fan of screwing around with an instrument for a while before getting into the technical stuff. There's tons of tutorials on YT on creating patches. Just follow a few of those until you get a library of patches you like and experiment with each of the settings to hear what makes them sound the way they do.

That's a decent price for 64G. Crucial makes great stuff. I'm using their MX500 SSD's instead of Samsungs these days. I don't use OWC SSD's since I had to send a couple back in the early ssd days.
