Great car, Tom. Hope you get to drive it from time to time!

You don't get to be an asshat right away; that's what we're here for.

Holy Crap! The New Stax Omega Looks fierce! (Stax SR-009)

Actually, my original post was that if he only got 5 on this next batch, I could wait, since I won't get to Illinois to pick them up for about another month. Kind of caught me between trips, as I just got back from Florida the other day. No way would I have them sent directly to Cayman and get hit with a 22% import duty. I'll just walk through Customs with them hanging around my neck and they'll think they're my travel phones! -
Throat feeling much better today. Been watching a lot of baseball today on mlb.com. Dang, those teams out in California today... Giants scored 12 runs, Angels 11 runs, and Dodgers 15 runs (so far).

Worth a try. My throat is getting a little better. It took the entire first day and evening and a lot of Baileys for it to start feeling even a little bit normal. Now it seems to be settling into a 'new normal' state. I've been sleeping in shifts, no more than 4 hours at a time to ensure that my throat doesn't get exposed to long periods of snoring and dryness. Yes, there are hospitals here. A big (for 50,000 people) heavily-Government-supported hospital and a small private hospital... and if that wasn't enough, they're now in the process of building a massive regional medical center (including a 2,000 bed hospital) here in Grand Cayman. It will be billed as a "medical tourism hospital" aimed at bringing in the best of the best docs in many specialties to perform cutting edge (read: experimental) types of procedures in a low risk environment (with legislation already in place to limit medical malpractice awards to $500,000). So essentially, it will be a place for wealthy patients to helicopter in with an armful of doctors who are willing to perform operations here that would be too high risk to do elsewhere.

Edit... deleted my original post which was made before reading that all 7 units are being shipped to you. PM sent with shipping address, etc. -
Thought this was interesting and worth sharing, from Business Week's Insider: http://www.businessweek.com/technology/here-comes-apples-real-tv-09132011.html This is the kind of thing that might just pull me back into the TV game. Mind you, I gave up TV in 1988 when I was a first year law school student, and have never subscribed to cable since. Just wanted to avoid the temptation back then because I knew I wouldn't have the discipline to turn if off. Now that I have more time on my hands, I just don't find TV viewing very interesting. Can always catch the well produced series in their entirety on DVD or Bluray. Can catch up with sports and news on the internet, and can avoid all of the political nonsense entirely since I control my web browsing. With TV (at least for me), it seems almost impossible not to get sucked into a bunch of crap that ultimately becomes a massive time waster. But if anyone can get TV right, such that it delivers in the most interesting and important ways, but avoids much of the unnecessary rubbish, my bet would be on Apple.

Gorgeous fridge... and view!

Ya, I'm going to give that a try. The nurse was quite nice to chat with, so I'm sure she'll help if she can.
-
Cost $175.79 in FedEx charges plus a bottle of George Dickel #12 for that mistake, so call it $200.

Frick... now the CPAP won't get here until Wednesday next week because it will be held up in Customs. Oh well, I'll have to just try to keep breathing...

^ Hey, you're good! You found the one and only guy in Cayman who might have been able to help. St. Thomas is on the other side of the Caribbean, though. I called my doc here in Cayman who originally diagnosed me for sleep apnea while doing a routine physical for immigration purposes. (It was pretty amazing, really. He just stuck a tongue depressor down my throat and noticed some swelling, and then set up an sleep study appointment for me a Baptist Hospital in Miami. At least 9 out of 10 GPs would have missed it, or so I'm told.) Anyway, he immediately recommended Dr. Glatz (who wasn't here 8 years ago when I was diagnosed). I called his office and spoke to his nurse who was prepared to let me borrow their machine for this weekend, but needed to check their schedule first, and sure enough it will be in use with one of their patients this weekend. Oh well, still nice to know that they are here and were willing to help (in the event that I ever have a mind freeze like this again). In the meantime, it's been passed on to FedEx, and I'll just have to rough it with a lot of ice cream and very little sleep this weekend. If nothing else, I've got one clear nostril so even if the throat gets worse, I still should be able to get enough air to stay alive. Funny that, breath. Something you need more than anything else to sustain life -- even food, water, sleep, or the ability to urinate and/or procreate, depending on your preferred use of that appendage at any given moment. Even more important than having a pair JH13's -- breath.

Got in a rush yesterday trying to get to the airport in Tampa, and forgot to pack my CPAP machine. To make matters worse, I hadn't slept for 2 of the 3 previous nights (for no particular reason). I was pretty much a walking zombie yesterday, and didn't even realize that I'd forgotten it until I got home mid-afternoon and immediately headed for bed. So now I'm in Cayman with a throat that feels like a golf ball sized fleshy mass, trying to figure out how to get the blasted thing back here! Of course, FedEx and DHL (the only courier options) are closed here on weekends, so Monday is the soonest I can hope for unless I drop $500-odd to make a quick trip back for it. Even FedEx will cost well over $100, I'm sure. Used to be you could arrange to leave something like that at the Cayman Airways check-in counter and one of the flight attendants would bring it back for you as she was passing through the airport, so long as you had good taste in perfume. But then some camel fuckers decided to fly airplanes into the twin towers, and things aren't the same anymore. Guess I'll just have to try to stay awake as much as possible this weekend to keep the swelling down as much as possible. One of the downsides to Island life, I guess. Nothing is cheap or convenient. In the meantime, I'm going to check with the hospital to see if there is a way to rent one. Doubtful, but worth a try.

Glad this man is not afraid to state his opinion; gladder that his opinion of the new and doubly (or is it triply?) expensive 009 is a rather high one; will be gladdest if that is my experience as well. Really looking forward to getting my eyes, hands, and ears on these puppies. -
Worth watching to the end... "How does Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?"
-
Ehh, different strokes. I'd rather get naked and slide down a bannister made of razor blades than listen to the RS-1 flavor. Far, far too shrill for me.
-
Not sure I'd place a lot of reliance on that review. I'm a couple of paragraphs into it and already the guy has made some pretty goofy statements, such as: "The large diaphragms contain rare earth metals, including gold wire for maximum definition." Alrighty then... "By being American made, they save big bucks from having to import phones from China and can, instead, bulk up on the technology." Quick, someone call the President! This Levi guy is really on to something here. This could solve our debt crisis. We could all save big bucks by avoiding those expensive Chinese imports and just bulk up on good ole fashioned American technology instead... oh, and Grado "Labs" is such a fine example of how to stay ahead of the curve...
-
Nice! In your honor, since you're a Wrangler kind of guy:
-
Why didn't you throw some of those homerun balls back onto the field?
-
^ Nice jersey, Dan.
-
Jecklin Floats, but only because I ran out of rootbeer. Oh, and to play around with numbnuts when he searches for a pair tomorrow.
-
Sad to see all of the flooding and such. Thankfully, it wasn't a 4 or 5. Jokers like that guy hanging off the sign were nowhere to be seen in Cayman during Ivan, at least if they wanted to live to tell about it.
-
Funny, I just a portable painer! Ken, next time I see you, I'll show you how it works.
-
Ok, it's official... I hate you. I got 2 for $5 and was happy about it until you showed up!
