  1. Happy birthday, Ari.
  2. Wet t-shirt contest winner! I applaud the man.
  3. Above quote taken out of context, of course, but... ya. I think that was what people were saying towards the beginning of this thread.
  4. Real life Barbie doll. http://www.buzzfeed....ian-barbie-doll
  5. Just guessing you may have some conductivity issues. Might want to stick with wire.
  6. Definitely two of the key culprits.
  7. Stacken. There's another one. You're on a roll.
  8. Rick Wakeman - Stairway to Heaven on piano
  9. Which just proves that you need all kinds. I'm not really down with the 'academics hate' thing, I guess because my academic background has served me well and has likewise helped me to make a real difference in the lives of many of my students over the years. As with just about any form of learning or growing, formal education (academia) has its place in society. It's not for everyone, but fuck anyone who thinks it serves no real purpose because he/she/it (<-- the hermaphrodite straw man) would be wrong.
  10. Let me shoot you real quick... before I shoot you! I've got a couple of HC threads I need to update...
  11. Would be a great poster. College kids would buy it and put it up in their bathrooms.
  12. I wish I knew so much... and fear that I once did.
  13. Funny how threads can sometimes circle back to the original theme after wandering for a bit.
  14. Awesome, Gene. I'm jealous. Haven't been there for a while...
  15. Being "visual" doesn't necessarily mean that they read or can really picture it even if they do.
  16. I don't know about that. When I see tits, I become all involved visually. But otherwise, I'd rather be listening.
  17. What I don't get is how the hell would you know if the HD800 or the Orpheus is more "neutral" for any given piece of music? I mean, if, as you argued up to that point (and subsequently as well) it's impossible to know what "neutral" really means to begin with (because all of the variables that cannot be controlled), then you don't even know what you're trying to "listen for"... so how would you know if you've heard it... or not? So, yes... different headphones for different occasions. Some make us happy sometimes. Others makes us happy other times. Who would have ever thought of that?
  18. Not surprising there would be some flubs, given what a tongue twister it is and how many news stories were being reported at that time... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSf4RVbiPRQ&feature=related
  19. If this doesn't get your goat... http://www.wthr.com/video?clipId=7054149&topVideoCatNo=103348&autoStart=true

  21. Got a $10 Best Buy rewards certificate via email today. So exciting! Yeah... Thick as a Brick 2 for $9.99... nope, can't use the $10 rewards certificate because it's for an amount greater than what is in my cart. Urgh!!! Let's try to add something in from the $4.99 bin... nothing on page 1, page 2, etc. Several pages later, there it is! Styx - Grand Illusion. All of a sudden I'm riding shotgun in Dice's baby blue '76 Ford Pinto. We're cruising the backroads of LaSalle County, IL, with the usual Friday night goal of drinking a case of Miller's 7 ounce bottles each. He's got the cooler all iced up in the little trunk, and in no time we're half blasted and pulling over on the side of the road every 15 minutes to piss in the weeds again, and grab 2 more short ones each out of the cooler. Pretty soon we'll be meeting up with Mince and Moose and they'll have some catch up drinking to do. So Grand Illusion will be rejoining my collection soon, on CD this time. Now what did I do with the 8-track? Good thing it wasn't a $50 rewards certificate, or I'd be shopping for Cheap Trick, Foghat, Foreigner, Boston, etc...
  22. I can see the thread already. "Tips on removing red wine stains?"
  23. This! Too funny, Larry. Al, sounds like "home alone" is not the norm, which is good. I'm sure your dad needs company as much as anything these days, but really sorry to learn about his medical problems. I'm sure he was just as scared as you were, but thankfully you and Claire were able to help from a distance, and then be there for him. Just remember, there is no better way to spend your time in a bad way, if that makes any sense.
