  1. I think it's totally adorable the way she does this, "I'm so totally adorable" thing. She's like the 30 year-old version of the 12 year-old girl next door that you never had the nerve to ask out, and now writes these catchy little songs to tell you why she's so relieved that you never asked her out.
  2. Spent the afternoon with Santa Ernie and his wife and daughter from Miami, who were here on a cruiseship. Gave them the nickel tour, had lunch out at Rum Point, showed them some off-the-beaten-path places, etc. Nice people. They didn't kill me and I didn't kill them. Everyone was happy. You never know with strangers you meet online...
  3. I've got MLB.tv and was flipping through some games at random this evening, when I heard this: "Well, we're winding down August, which as you know is national sandwich month..." No, actually, I didn't know that, but that's what I watch baseball games for.
  4. Yes, stay safe and dry Floridians. Hope you get enough rain to get a 'skip' day at work tomorrow, Vicki.
  5. Like the Son of Sam(ta). Here is last year's first session versus this year's. There is just too much hair to do it all in one shot, so I thought I'd have some fun with it... http:// http://img.techpowerup.org/120826/IMG_9085.jpg]http://
  6. I did my first bleaching session last night. Now I'm a ginger. Last year, I started bleaching on October 4th, and had severe breakage from doing too much bleaching without enough recovery time in between sessions. This year, I started on August 26th, and will be a ginger for 2 weeks instead of 2 days. No offense, Colin, but it's not really my thing...
  7. What always struck me about Neil Armstrong was his lack of ego involvement. He seemed to have understood his place in history and obviously felt tremendously honored to have been chosen to serve his country and the world in this capacity. He knew that it wasn't really about him. We can all learn from his example. RIP, Neil. You were a quite the gentleman.
  8. Jealous. I'm so in love with that young lady. She's so talented, and kind of funky. Great hair too.
  9. Nice coverage of the green stamps / green shield stamps, guys. Those were the days.
  10. S&H Green Stamps? How many books does it take to add up to $33?
  11. Nope, not me. That's what he gets for being a fake-bearded skinny imposter! Would like to know what he was drinking though. Looks like that really hurt...
  12. I assume you're Ok. The car can be fixed. Frustrating though. You get stuck in a rental and then just hope they fix it right, etc. Can be a real PITA.
  13. Ya, no kidding. Yet another reason to double protect it at all times. The nice thing about the Red Oxx bags is that the red liners are pretty much water proof, I've now learned. But I wouldn't want to test it for any longer than 30 seconds or so. I'm looking at it now, and the small compartment where a little bit of water seeped in is not lined with the red water proof material. But there is at least some degree of water resistance of the main fabric of the Red Oxx bags. Certainly more so than the typical bag. The reverse (non fabric) side is black and kind of vinyl looking. It was just damp inside that pocket, and thankfully nothing of value was in there.
  14. Was delayed 2 hours getting out of Tampa today. Had a layover in Miami that was, oddly enough, scheduled to be 2 hours and 40 minutes. As I got off the plane in Miami, I quickly looked for the departures board and was relieved to learn that my flight to Cayman was departing out of Terminal D, where I had just arrived. So no problem, now I'm thinking that I have plenty of time. With a big sigh of relief, I wander into the men's room, take a whiz and then head to the sink to wash my hands, fiddle with my growing mop of hair and nit pick my beard for a few seconds. No big hurry, taking my sweet time. Then as I walked back out into the corridor, I suddenly felt my entire right side from my hip down getting drenched with water. WTF?!?!? As I looked down, I realized my mistake. I was carrying my Red Oxx shoulder bag, the biggish thing called the "CPA briefcase" and as I approached the sink that I was intending to use, I set it down across the adjacent sink such that it sort of straddled the sink, and then obviously didn't pay any more attention to it. Apparently, it set the sensor off which then started the faucet and completely filled the open design side compartment with water. By the time I felt it on my hip, half of it had probably sloshed out. But thankfully there was a big trash bin right there and I turned the entire bag upside down and must have shook at least 16-24 ounces of water out of it. Funny as hell. Thankfully all of the compartments were zipped up and only the outer pouch got filled with water. Some papers got a bit soaked in the small zipped center pocket on that side just because of the seepage, but my laptop was in a padded neoprene case inside the center compartment, so it was bone dry. Still managed to make it to the duty free shop for 4 bottles of rum and scotch, and was the last one to board as they were about to take off without me.
  15. Knucks, no problem being the Knucks we all love you for being! Mike, great vacation pics! Your kids are truly fortunate to have two parents who have been so committed over the years to staying in such great shape. They might take it for granted, but it truly is a blessing to them. Not too many 50ish people can do those kinds of things. I know that my parents couldn't at that age, and I know that I certainly couldn't either (or if I did try, I'd probably be added in to the "splat factor").
  16. Ya, but they still have to be done right or they're practically useless. I suspect that in this case there was a lot of cross support built into the frame to absorb and spread out some of the impact. Otherwise the top down pressure would just punch the roll cage straight through the attachment points in the frame. The answer to "How much engineering design work is enough?" when racing at Pike's Peak is that there can never be too much!
  17. Could somebody, anybody besides a Jamaican, please win the men's 200m final? I'm so sick of hearing all of these people go on and on about how "Jamaica is dominating the Olympics... as usual." Geez, USA has 83 medals, China has 77, and Jamaica has 6. But they don't care about the 90+% of all events that they suck at, they just go on and on and on about Bolt and Blake...
  18. So you're the one who stole my fucking Beats! Scum bag! Don't worry, man, karma's a bitch! You're on the naughty list.
  19. Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David's rudeness and facial expressions save any episode that starts to get dull.
  20. Happy birthday, Tom!
  21. Awesome post.
