  1. Seems to me that he answered that question. Suppose he may have liked a lot of other things about them, but not the kind of "like" that Tyll has in mind when he says that he really likes a pair of headphones (in a full scale review). Thus, his reluctance to do the review. Or at least that's the way I read it.
  2. 70" TV sounds like a better bet to me.
  3. That game had the Wong ending.
  4. Coming from you that sounds like an innocent little inoffensive stereotype...
  5. I'm with you Gene and want to see KC vs. Giants, but now have a soft spot for the Orioles as well (or at least for the success of Brian Matusz and his very cool HC connection).
  6. Did not know that. Thanks!
  7. Yup, sad stuff. Like I said, it reminded me of Johnny Cash's "Hurt" video when he was near the end. Even more poignant, perhaps, was this gem from Warren when he was dying from cancer.
  8. Amazing new/final song released by Glen Campbell today, dealing with his fight with Alzheimer's. Reminds me of Johnny Cash's version of Hurt. You can read about it here: http://www.hngn.com/articles/45420/20141010/glen-campbell-s-heart-breaking-final-recording-i-m-not-gonna-miss-you-reveals-his-ongoing-battle-with-alzheimer-s-watch.htm
  9. Most excellent! This will make me feel better if the Orioles win the series. My KC blood has been stirred up a bit, so I've been pulling for them... but I'll be happy no matter what so long as the Cardinals don't win the World Series! Anyone but them!!! Go Giants...
  10. He just likes buying cool shit. I think he said it quite well.
  11. Hang in there, it gets pretty good toward the end.
  12. Joe Buck and McCarver are just way too full of themselves. Jack Buck was so good... but I kind of wish he wasn't because his legendary status is what made Joe's career possible... and speaking of annoying twerps, don't even get me started on Bob Costas! Agree about Smoltz. He's good and it doesn't have to be about him all of the time. Cal Ripkin does pretty well too.
  13. Condolences, Todd. I, too, remember him in that role.
  14. That one was all on Posey. No way can he be looking for advice or consultation on that. It's an instinct play and he's probably safe 90% of the time in cases like that, so I think he did the right thing. Must have been a perfect bounce that allowed a quick and accurate throw.
  15. He got all of that one. Dang!
  16. How to cook a fucking steak: http://www.theawl.com/2009/11/how-to-cook-a-fucking-steak
  17. That's what I'm hoping for! Forgot how much I loved the Royals. Lived out there for a couple of years, a long, long time ago, but it's all coming back to me now.
  18. I had to leave at the end of 17 so I missed the home run by Belt. Grocery store was about to close and I was out of peppered bacon... priorities...
  19. Ya, just makes you wonder how a team can bounce back from that. One out away from a complete game shutout in the bottom of the 9th and you pull the guy who has been dominant all night? Roll the dice with a fresh arm, a guy who might be jittery, might be overhyped, might not locate his pitches? Regular season, sure turn it over to the closer, but I'd prefer to stick with the guy who got me there in the playoffs. At least until he showed signs of fatigue or being rattled.
  20. But they're determined not to lose!
  21. Nobody seems to want to win.
  22. I thought this was fascinating and remarkably close to how I see the world (or at least the world of baseball). http://onlyagame.wbur.org/2014/10/04/mlb-playoffs-hateability-index?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=202403 http://online.wsj.com/articles/the-2014-baseball-playoffs-hateability-index-1412008971 So true about Boston's annoying beards last year. Same with the stupid "big up yo-self" gestures that Milwaukee was doing in the playoffs a couple of years ago when Prince Fielder was still there. Also understand how it's easy to hate the Cardinals (as a reasonable Yankee substitute) and to love the Royals (a small ball style on a low budget, kind of like the A's and Rays in recent years). There are also specific players that you love to hate, especially the roid'ers who keep producing (David Ortiz, Nelson Cruz, etc.).
  23. Well there you go. I was wrong again. He's just done. Good for Doug. Plus the article was written by a wicked beardster who doesn't look like he would let you call him a liar and walk away from the experience.
