RIP Joe. You strived for excellence and in so doing created something of value, enjoyed tremendously by many. Hard to find any serious fault in a life lived in that fashion.

Actually, I think they all know how horrid the Yoko thing was but were just making fun of Katy Perry. But you're right, it's a slightly older crowd (for the most part) at the SH Forums and a lot of them are died hard Beatles types. Plus, they hate pretty much anything that has happened in the music world from Madonna forward and certainly would not think it's "cool" to like Katy Perry because it would go against their code as much as would drinking a Bud if you're a beer douche. I'm personally indifferent to Katy Perry. She does seem at least marginally talented as a vocalist in a plain vanilla kind of way, and has put out some well produced music, plus she comes across with a great desire to be wholesome (she referred to herself as an All-American Girl twice in the interview segment they aired during the game) and I'm not at all opposed to that as a change to pace these days. Felt bad for the people in the audience at the Yoko thing who all (I'd hope reluctantly) applauded at the end of it. Yes, I forced myself to watch the whole thing. -

This is who John Lennon married. But as someone said over at the Steve Hoffman forum, it's still better than listening to Katy Perry: -

The article was actually kind of interesting (they love him like 'cook food' which is Jamaican for 'cooked' food), but I'm just posting it here mostly because of the chuckle-worthy title. http://m.jamaicaobserver.com/mobile/news/MoBay-doc-returns-tightness-to-vaginas -
I always loved music and would listen to the radio nonstop as a kid. But I think going to see Springsteen in '76 at Notre Dame when I was a freshman in high school was the turning point. Just such an eye opening experience to a world of worlds that I didn't know anything about (music, drugs, alcohol, girls, the whole college scene... it was amazing). My dad didn't want me to go because I was on the football team and so was JB, who had invited me. His brother was a senior at Notre Dame and said that he could bring a friend. It took a while, but I was finally able to convince my dad, only on the condition that we went to our game on Friday night and then he would drive JB and I to South Bend himself (along with two of my younger brothers, as it turned out) to meet the college kids on Saturday morning. It was at least a 3 hour drive. There were about 10 guys waiting for us at the drop off point, and they were all stoned out of their minds! I'm just thankful that my dad was a huge Notre Dame football fan (and thus seemed oblivious to their states of mind), or he would have just turned the car around with me still in it! From that moment forward, I was reading The Rolling Stone and forever expanding my musical horizons. Life wasn't just about sports anymore.

Well, pretty much everything is placebo for those of us in the 50 and over crowd. -

Hit the friggin' jackpot today (so to speak). Long story short, I finally (after 4+ years) found my JH-13. They were in one of the front lower pockets on the pair of cargo pants that I must have been wearing on that infamous night when I got caught in a torrential downpour while driving across Alligator Alley from Ft. Lauderdale to Tampa in September 2010... in my Atom! There were about 6 inches (no exaggeration) of rain water in the seat wells when I was finally able to find shelter. I remember going inside a convenience/grocery store bathroom and proceeding to wring out every article of clothing I was wearing only to put them all right back on and drive another couple of hours with chattering teeth only to arrive at the storage place at 2am and of course being locked out of the gate, then going to the Waffle House until 6am when the manager got to work. Said cargo shorts must have then survived a trip to the laundry mat and got placed on the bottom shelf of a closet inside the rig. Meanwhile, I gained and have subsequently lost 90 pounds. I know, seems impossible, but entirely true. So this morning at 6am, I found myself looking for something with a smaller waist when the 44 shorts fell from my hips to the floor the minute I put them on. Hmmm, what about these? 40, perfect. Put them on, went to the airport, went through security, and beep! "Sir, there is something in your lower right pocket." "Nope, I don't think so... must just be the buttons..." Doh!!! They sound great, and machine washable too, although I wouldn't recommend it.

It would be fun to try something like this at one of those beer douche events... or for that matter, at a Head-Fi event. http://www.nextstopmagazine.com/Article/2014/1/7/Asking-Hipsters-About-Bands-that-Dont-Exist -
