  1. Agree with this part of your statement.
  2. LOL'ered on that one.
  3. RIP, Justice Antonin Scalia. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-35571868 Let the shenanigans begin. Obama will appoint someone. The Senate will not confirm while he's President. He'll have an interim Justice ready to appoint when the Senate is out of session. The GOP will figure out a way to always be in session. Who breaks ties in the SCOTUS? I guess the lower court ruling that was appealed to the SCOTUS would still stand... never was too excited about my con law classes.
  4. When did Fang become a crack head?
  5. Lego paper airplane machine. Fascinating. http://www.theverge.com/2016/2/8/10943322/lego-paper-airplane-machine
  6. Sayings of a Jewish Buddha..... If there is no self, whose arthritis is this? Be here now. Be someplace else later. Is that so complicated? ... Drink tea and nourish life; with the first sip, joy; with the second sip, satisfaction; with the third sip, peace; with the fourth, a Danish. Wherever you go, there you are. Your luggage is another story. Accept misfortune as a blessing. Do not wish for perfect health, or a life without problems. What would you talk about? The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single Oy. There is no escaping karma. In a previous life, you never called, you never wrote, you never visited. And whose fault was that? Zen is not easy. It takes effort to attain nothingness. And then what do you have? Bupkis. The Tao does not speak. The Tao does not blame. The Tao does not take sides. The Tao has no expectations. The Tao demands nothing of others. The Tao is not Jewish. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. Forget this and attaining Enlightenment will be the least of your problems. Let your mind be as a floating cloud. Let your stillness be as a wooded glen. And sit up straight. You'll never meet the Buddha with such rounded shoulders. Deep inside you are ten thousand flowers. Each flower blossoms ten thousand times. Each blossom has ten thousand petals. You might want to see a specialist. Be aware of your body. Be aware of your perceptions. Keep in mind that not every physical sensation is a symptom of a terminal illness. From the book ZEN JUDAISM by David M Bader
  7. RIP Sugarbear.
  8. Well, then there's that... vaginal weightlifting... http://www.barcroft.tv/kung-fu-vagina-weightlifter-lifts-weights-using-pelvic-floor-muscles
  9. Interesting read. Bob Elliot was a bit before my time. I've of course heard many references to the Bob and Ray show, but really don't remember it. RIP. Chris Elliot was always my favorite character on Letterman. He was just genuinely goofy and had great rapport with Dave.
  10. Well, shit... now I feel even worse. He's really dead....
  11. Are there any headphones you do like? Don't know where you get your kicks, but I don't waste a lot of time on shit I don't like, headphones or otherwise. Find something you like, listen to them for a while, and fucking smile a little.
  12. Fucking shit, it doesn't get easier... RIP, Richie Havens: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/richie-havens-folk-icon-dead-at-72-20130422

  18. Geez... RIP Glenn. He was one of the Eagles who actually had a lot of talent.
  19. Very sad news. I'm sorry to learn of your loss. It's been nearly 9 years since I lost my dad (to cancer as well) and in some ways, it feels like it was just yesterday. He will no doubt stay with you in the memories that you carry in your heart. May he rest in peace. Semper Fi, and much respect for his service. Just wanted to mention (since I was the one who started this thread way back when), that the "some fuck or another" in the thread title wasn't meant to be disrespectful at all. If you go back to read my opening post, you'll see the context and intent, and that it's really about acknowledging the contributions that many people in society have made to our lives, whether we knew them personally or not. With parents and other close family members and friends who we've recently lost, it's each person's call whether you think this is the right place, or you would prefer to have a dedicated thread. In any case, I think that is probably worth repeating every now and then since this has become such a long thread. But ya... fuck cancer, indeed.
  20. I hear ya. I'm just numb.
  21. Just saw this myself... so what now? The world without David Bowie? It just won't be the same. Tears. RIP.
