Here's one .:: music hall audio :: maven And literally every HomeTheater Receiver is an amp and all have at least two or three digital inputs.

I can finally post about the HD-800's. I listened to them Balanced with three amps; My Phoenix, an M3, and a B52. Now I'm not the biggest fan of the B52, every time I've heard it it's sounded bloated in the Bass. Well with the HD-800's the B52 was the only amp that I tried that made them sound good (Not great), with the m3 they sounded OK, and with the Phoenix less so. With the Phoenix they sounded kind of flat and un-dynamic. Makes me wonder what that idiot ipodPJ has been smoking with his raves about the HD-800 and his Phoenix. IMO it

Walter's a friend of mine. Walter at one point was a minority owner of Ensemble. I use to work for Ensemble in Arlington, and then Nashua. I quit after the 2nd bounced pay check. I believe that he's totally divested himself of Ensemble. I also hear that Ensemble is a little more solvent these days. The Harbeths are good, although I don't think they are as good as Sam Tellig makes them out to be.

Yes, but at some point most Tools are useful. Sam Tellig was a decent read when he was the Audio Cheapskate. Now he just promotes his Anglophile predilections. He raves about all British products (Even when they are built in China), Creek, Musical Fidelity, Harbeth, you name it if it

Tom Gillet, not Sam.

There is no Sam Tellig, it's a pseudonym, and Sam [sic] and Roy go way back. Sam made Roy a bunch of money with his unrealistically positive reviews of Creek integrated amplifiers. I own the Music Hall 25.2 Dac. The tube is only used for the Single Ended RCA outputs. My original intention was to also buy a Cambridge Audio DacMagic and compare them, but I lost interest. The 25.2 handily beats my EAD DSP-7000 DAC. It is the primary source for my bedroom system, being fed USB from my bedroom PC and TOS from a Logic Tech Duet. The 25.2 is good enough that it

Symposium Acoustics Symposium Acoustics: Primarily Vibration Control I have a bunch of Symposium equipment in my system. An Isis rack, Roller Blocks, and Ultra Platforms. The stuff works really well.

And these were absolutely amazing at this years CES - Perfect 8 "The Force" a cool $300,000 If I had the money these would be on my list.

FYI - My phoenix has now been on for 95 hours, and excluding a small puff of acrid smoke there's been no heat related issues. Kidding about the smoke.

I heard a rumor that he was not physically up to the upcoming tour (He was emaciated) and his practice sessions for the tour were really sucking. If he did the tour it was going to be really Bad (No Pun) and they would lose millions, and since the tour was insured for something like $50,000,000 the tour promoters had him killed.

If all you need is a basic computer its tough to beat the prices offered by a place like Magic Micro. Their barebones systems have many configurations (motherboards, Processors, Drives, Video Cards and the like) and if you take the time it takes to DIY into account I think they are a good option. If on the otherhand you have a lot of special needs then DIY makes sense.

Wow! Growing up with the the Jackson 5 and then watching as his star grew and his sanity shrank. I'm not a fan, but I do have a couple of LP's, Off The Wall and Thriller were Classics. He ended up being a nut case and social pariah, but he's been part of the fabric of my life, and tonight I feel a little unwound.

I'm sorry, I haven't been around here much in the last couple of years, but how in the F do you get banned here? Come up to NJ next month. I'll be bringing mine there. It should be a good meet.

Then he borrowed a Phonitor and it was the best amp evahh. The problem is that this amp does seem really good, at least as a preamp it does. Very listenable.

I hate to quote myself but, I told you. Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio - View Single Post - Audio-gd Phoenix balanced headphone amp. Curse you Monkey! I'm too slow again
-
I hoped that it somehow removed annoying Head-Fiers, but alas it's not so. Since there is no freaking manual I am hazy on it's use. It allows programing of the Volume style, one setting is 70 steps the other is 99, these two setting may have different ramps. The debug switch also allows the Volume memory to be turned on and off. So basically it's used for programing. Too freaking slow, as usual.

Nate, I've recently shopped for either the DIY route or a Barebones system route, and I found this company. Magic MICRO Computers. PC, Barebones, Computer Systems, Parts Online looking at their Barebones systems I found it would be diffiecult to DIY one cheaper. I'm in a rush this AM so I didn't read the entire thread, sorry. Ethan

Be sure that you hang on to the railing.

I am getting the Phoenix and I'll post my thoughts on it. I'm also going to try it as a preamp. It's not a FOTM over there yet, but the writting is on the wall. Safe bet that the Audio-gd fans will LOVE it. Hey, Singlepower is finally out, so somebody's going to replace it as far as walking on water goes. Why not Audio-gd? At least I won't find wire tied wall warts inside when I pop the lid.

Anyone know the output voltage of 840c?
Yikes replied to Salt Peanuts's topic in Home Source Components
Hey Haj, The standard traditionally has been 1 v p-p (Single ended), but most companies ignore that figure now. Having a higher output voltage will make it play louder given the same preamp settings. This gives the player with a higher output an advantage in direct comparisons, since usually the louder system is thought to be better during comparisons. Higher is not necessarily better. Sometimes the preamp input can be overloaded. Or at the very least because of the higher input the preamps volume control may be in it lowest operating area which is often the least linear area of operation. The only time I look for high output from a source is when a passive (Volume controll) control unit is used (I hate the term passive preamp, by definition a preamp is not passive) -
Speakers & power amp recommendations for $1600-$2K?
Yikes replied to Salt Peanuts's topic in Speakers
Haj, Good deals on Dali could likely be had. Spearit Sound is dropping the line. -
Ha! If you are in the industry you can slowly obtain such a collection by calling and asking for samples. Kevin: (To hot blond) Howd you lik to cum inside and see my collection of connectors??? Hot Blond: (Batting her eyes) Connectors?? really that's what you're using. It use to be etchings.' Kevin: No really, ... Connectors.

New gig?? It's going OK. There's just so much crap incorporating and all, it's really a pain in the ass. The great part is that my company has a demo room. This means that new audio toys are a company expense. So I have a new cartridge on the way (Dynavector 17D3) and the Projector. The screen?? Most people go way too large. My screen is a 92" 16/9 screen designed for fixed pixel displays. Manual pull down. I'll take pictures soon. Ethan
