  1. Sure
  2. FYI - I'm one of the 35 Beta testers and as of now I don't have it yet. There is a Beta testers blog that once there is substantive info on I'll post links here. Waiting Is.
  3. Mark's "Review" of the 800's was Spowdalicious and filled with Spowdisims. If I remember correctly Mark L thought the 800's sucked, that is until his cable magically turned the proverbial Pigs ear into a silk purse. I'm hoping that there'll be a set of his 7000's at the meet so that I can compare my re-cabled 7000's (with J$) to them.
  4. To my knowledge no Betas have shipped yet. The last that I heard was that there are 35 Beta testers and that our Bridges are scheduled to ship on July 27th. There is a Beta testers blog (I think it can be reached via PS Audio's forum) where most of us have posted bio's. Even with a quick beta test I can't imagine final units shipping before September. My feeling is that the Bridge from a hardware standpoint is pretty much finalized, it's the software and instructions that we'll be testing. If not hardware changes would take months, but firmware can be changed in a matter of hours. Once the Beta blog becomes substantive I'll be sure to post a link on Head-Case
  5. Those FUCKERS!!!!! At least fifteen years ago I came up with the idea of opening a restaurant where the specialty would be serving the richest most decadent food known to man. Big Steaks, Rich deserts, Huge triple burgers, heavy sauces, you name it it would have served it. Proudly listing the Calories and Fat content of each item on the menu. My logic was let the other places cater to the healthy meal, my place is where you would go for the true special occasion when one meal that tastes great and happens to be bad for you is part of the appeal. My name for it was: Shear Heart Attack! I was living in Denver at the time, but I was frequently traveling to Phoenix on business, like I said, Those Fuckers!!!!
  6. I'll be there, hopefully the SPOW Mark L. will not be. Self Promoting Opportunistic Weasel SPOW is what I hope to be my contribution to the English language.
  7. Snob. Me too.
  8. Why do I suspect that S.G.'s review on CNET is just slightly hyperbolic. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm not getting the measure of my HE-5LE headphones with any of my amplifiers and S.G.'s review of the Asgard has me reaching for the CC hoping that the Asgard might be a magic match for a very low price. As Heinlein used to say TANSTAAFL, now $249 isn't free but it's certainly dirt cheap by high End standards. Is 15 days enough time? and I hate returning anything. I'm going to wait. It's summer and I use my Headphones even less during the Summer so I think I'll let the dust settle a little before I bite on the Asgard hook; besides I've been selected as a Beta tester for the new PS Audio Network Bridge so that should keep me busy for a while.
  9. Kinky...
  10. I did not. I purchased the entire series on 12 disc's for under $20. The transfer seems OK, not the highest quality, but for $20 better than I expected. The disc's are not even labeled, so I am labeling them as I watch them. (They do seem to be in order)
  11. Have you seen the size of my pockets?

  13. I purchased a pirated copy of the Complete series Lexx. Sometimes great, sometimes not so great, but always strange and interesting. The most original Science Fiction series ever.
  14. Breaking Bad - Over the last couple of week we watched the first two seasons of Breaking Bad. It's an amazingly good series. IMO in the top 5 television dramas of all time. I didn't catch season 3 on AMC (that ended in early Feb) so I was pleased to discover that AMC is going to start replaying season 3 late this month. It's also been picked up for a 4th season, which unfortunately won't air until July of 2011
  15. Well the stock factory supplied AMD CPU cooler has hasted two weeks before the thing has started making a racket. It's a piece of crap anyway, so rather than going through the hassle of RMAing it just to have it fail in another month or two I decided to get something better. I just ordered a CoolIt ECO A.L.C. I just hope that the stock piece of crap holds out for another week.
  16. But what if they are an Elder Statesman? Depends might be an option. As far as Schiit goes; It looks like nice domestically produced budget gear. The principals know how to design audio equipment. If I were in the market for a budget amp I'd consider them, but i don't use the budget amps that I have. I certainly don't think Schiit walks on water, it might float, but not walk on. The Head-Fi Fan-boys love to think that they have found the Magic Bullet, the one company that builds the highest Performance for Dollar product available. In their eyes they have achieved the Audio equivalent of the old joke: When driving down the highway at 80 MPH a driver can be heard cursing anyone going slower than they are as being morons, anyone going faster than they are is cursed as an Ass Hole. Head-Fi Fan-Boys love to think that they've found the one product that is better than just about everything and you'd have to be a moron to spend the 5x, 10x, 20x more that you would need to even possibly better it. Products that attract Fan-boyisim. Benchmark DAC1 (i purchased one buying into the hype. The Hyper-etched sound was to my ear unlistenable. I sold it) Audio-gd anything (I own a Phoenix and as a Headphone amp I think it's only OK. As a Preamp it's much better) Nuforce uDAC and HDP (I own a uDAC, and it's an OK $99 small portable USB powered solution, hardly the end all be all) Schiit Buffalo sabre 32 dac Oppo BDP-83 (I own the 83SE and at best it was OK - I sent it to Exemplar Audio for modification. It's back and breaking-in) So I obviously get swept up in the early enthusiasm for some products, but few would count me among the Fan-Boys. I find it's the over the top hyper enthusiastic hyperbole that gets obnoxious.

    Suggestions for me

Vicky, Some of my favorite unknown albums: Willie & Lobo "Between the Waters" CD Universe has samples at Willie & Lobo Between The Waters CD Tin Hat Trio "Rodeo Eroded" Tougher to find to buy new but you can sample the music here Amazon.com: The Rodeo Eroded: Tin Hat Trio: MP3 Downloads If you like "Rodeo Eroded" I probably have a spare disc floating arround (Original not burned) Both albums offer exceptional sonics. The Rodeo Eroded is my go to disc for determining if a system has got Naturalness of tone. (Once you hear it on a good system you'll know what I mean.) I'm generally not a fan of metal, most is recorded poorly and IMO musically uninspired. Some people classify them as metal, but I prefer Progressive metal, and if you haven't heard Tool's Undertow you haven't heard the best of the genre. As far as Classical and Jazz goes I'd ask what you like, and how far afield you want to go?
  18. 2nd the B&H recommendation.
  19. Out of stock, with no projected delivery date. In my experience when an item is listed this way they try to get a copy, then after a couple of months an email is received Canceling the order. So I looked for a used copy, and all of the ads listing a reasonable price ended up being "Not available". Ads where it's available want ridiculous $ (over $140), hence my trying to borrow a copy.
  20. While looking for something to read I happened upon a review of Mike Resnick's book Birthright: The Book of Man (1982). I don't know how this slipped under my radar. I suppose I was either under the water (On a Submarine), or in a drunken haze. In either case I'm searching for a copy to borrow. So does anyone have this book? And I suppose more importantly, is anyone willing to lend it to me? Purtty Please.

    Deals

Of course the Emotiva deal doesn't include the UMC-1, which is what I've been teetering on the edge about ordering for several months. Maybe I'll order a 5 channel amp that I'll need when the UMC-1 starts shipping.
  22. it's a pity that I need another amp like I need a hole in the head..... Must relieve the pressure. I also like their attitude, and the prices seem more than fair. Must resist.
  23. first it's PAID for, and I'll replace them as they fail, one at a time until they're gone.
  24. Besides it's to late now. It's built and payed for. Fingers Crossed.
  25. That I had not heard, I hope that your saying that hasn't jinxed me.
