  1. Hahahahahahah Clearly I should seek professional help! But I do <3 Ms. Blunt.
  2. Emily Blunt FTW.
  3. Night of Stone: Death and Memory in Twentieth-Century Russia Needless to say, not an uplifting read. But staggering in scope and scale.
  4. Swap out a Denon DA-500 for the DAC-AH and you've got my old office rig. It was great. Probably a more technically capable rig than what I have at home, and an amazing vaue. This idea is what I did a year or so ago. I'm into my current rig for less than $500 but only because the amp and wireless music streamer were gifts. HF-1 + zebrawood cups = $230 Denon DA-500 = $100 Denon DCD-815 = $40 Millett Hybrid w/ STEPS & diamond buffers = $0 SMC ez-Stream = $0 Outlaw Audio RCAs, Coax & Optical cables < $100
  5. For me it's probably Rasputina. I know some people here can appreciate them, but most of my friends look at my like I'm crazy when I tell them I like something that can be described as "Neo-Victorian Chamber Rock". But I heart the cello, and I heart Melora and her wacky musical and lyrical sensibilities, so it's as good as it gets for me.
  6. The Beatles. Just. Can't. Listen. And don't we have a music forum?
  7. Happy birthday, Haj!
  8. To me, the 1st season of the US Office is difficult to watch, too. It seemed like they were trying to take that uncomfortable feeling that kept popping up in the UK version and push it further. Starting in the 2nd season, I think they found their own voice, and things hit their stride. The biggest difference is that I felt that David Brent was an ass, but maintained a balance that kept him believable. The only charachter that ever felt a little over the top was Gareth, but Mackenzie Crook did such a good job that he managed to stay just on the right side of the line. In the US version I think Michael is more of a caricature, as are Dwight and Andy. Don't get me wrong, I still adore the US version, but the thing I find lacking, especially when compared the UK version, is it doesn't have that sense of realism.
  9. Maybe if you go back and read your initial post you'll understand why... Two of the three options have fairly negative connotations. And you come in without much of a history with this group and post a question like that... Or to make things more clear, I'll ask a similar question in a similar way... Why would you come on to a board and post a question like that? Is it that you're an asshole? Is it that you're so self-involved that you can't understand why someone might not like the tone of your post? Or some other reason?
  10. Maybe because seeing President Palmer every commercial break for Allstate means there's no more love left to give
  11. I was thinking about doing a little UK Office marathon this weekend to ease the pain a bit. Maybe I'll do a US instead... I haven't worked out the details yet
  12. I had a chance to check the levels for my listening when Nate was still running his Wheatfield / K340 combo with his SPL meter. I have some damage to my left ear from a combination of riding around in Jeeps and working front-of-stage security while (stupidly) not using hearing protection. So it was nice to see that I still have good enough hearing that I'm able to play it somewhat safe in the low to mid 70 dB range. And that was on par with the levels I usually have my Millett / HF-1 rig at, though for long periods like when working at home I try to keep it lower, and will occasionally nudget it higher when something like Opeth's "Demon of the Fall" comes on!
  13. This is why I do it, too. I'm too lazy to click people's profiles to check their gear and assume many are the same way. Besides, there's hardly anything to brag about in my rig. It's mid-fi at best, so giving a frame of reference is really the only reason for me.
  14. I'l be good here, especially given your new powers, and refrain from naming said roller coasters...
  15. New rug for my dining room...
  16. I want to preface this post by saying the following is pure speculation, as I have yet to hear a pair of MS-Pros... After hearing the difference in my HF-1 after removing the button when rescreening them, it wouldn't surprise me if that was the major difference. Grados seem very sensitive to reflected sound, and there's a definite difference in the treble when the buttons have been removed. Perhaps the new buttonless RS-1 sounds closer to the MS-Pro. Maybe not, but it wouldn't surprise me if the button going away and the new lettering are the only changes. And slightly unrelated, the new look RS-1 has definitely grown on me...
  17. Wow! I just can't believe he didn't post it here... I wonder why
  18. Congrats! Name? Miss Kitty Fantastico, perhaps?
  19. Everything I've read has led me to believe that the writers have gotten the short end of the stick with respect to residuals. The business models for the studios have changed, and syndication isn't where they're making their money any more. And the writers aren't getting a fair share of DVD releases, streaming and downloads, and whatever digital format comes out in the future. The fact is the contracts are from a time when the digital distribution couldn't even be imagined. Having said that, I think as a consumer it sucks donkey balls. There are a number of shows I really like that are new or on the fence, and the shows essentially going on extended hiatus could kill any momentum they have. If screwed up scheduling has shown anything, it's that shows can lose fans quickly when they go off the air for too long. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed that they'll get things worked out so we're not in re-run/reality show hell until next fall and start watching all those DVD sets in my collection
  20. I have to admit, I only got it to take pictures of it stalking Zoe... My favorite is the poster version of the one above as the rebuttal to the famous picture.
  21. Thanks everyone... It was a long weekend wrapping up loose ends for the appraisal, but I'm sure it's going to be worth it. Mulitple cats... Zoe, the black and white one, was given to me by a friend after my previous cat died. She was the runt of a litter and had been abandoned by her mother. I got her when she was 2 weeks old and was around 14 oz. She's 5 years old and is a royal pain with serious attitude issues Koshka, the almost all black one, is the one I got a little over a gear go. She's 8 years old was taken from her home by the SPCA... She had been hit by a car and was never brought to the vets, so she lost one eye and a few teeth. She was also pregnant at the time, and had fleas, mites and worms. She's the most affectionate cat I've ever seen, and follows me around like a little dog. The only problem with her is she's part siamese, and very vocal with damaged vocal chords from the accident, so it sounds like someone's strangling a small child when she meows.
  22. I see... I was clicking the individual boxes which didn't have the desired result. But I see that by clicking the boxes shown by hYdrociTy, I can reclaim my viewing space. Thankee-Sai!
  23. Is there any way we can keep the Search, User , Permission and Article boxes to the right with the Recent, Stats and Shoutbox? On my laptop, and especially on my smartphone, having the actual topics narrowed so much by having features on both sides has made browsing more difficult. It's much easier, for me at least, if the forum topics and actual threads stay left-justified so I don't have to scroll over for everything. Thoughts? Anyone else having an issue with the new layout?
  24. P2 Rachel Nichols getting chased around an underground parking garage by a psycho attandant. Not sure I'd say it was good, but it was very entertaining
  25. I don't know... Pretty close...
